Will be using a 15 gallon fabric pot with around 12 gallons of pre used home made living soil using BioBizz All-Mix as a base. Top-dressed (plus mixed into used soil) using 3kg of Plagron Mega-Worm worm castings, 3kg of month-old organic rabbit manure, 0.5kg of cow manure pellets and more fresh Bio-Bizz All-Mix filling up the fabric pot nicely. Inoculated living soil with mycorrhizae and 0.5ml of Bio-Bizz BioGrow and 0.5ml of BioBizz Fish-Mix 5 days before seed went in.
My plan is to let this girl veg out for as long as my two current autoflower plants take to finish. I would like to mainline this girl and use a SCROG net after I take out the autoflowers to hopefully fill out as much of the tent as possible then switch her to flower.
Placed seed in cup of water for 36 hours, seed split and little tap root came out.
Day 1 - Put seed directly in 15 gallon pot. Light schedule set to 18-6 due to being in the same tent as my two other auto-flowering ladies. Sprayed top with bottled water to keep humidity up around the seed.
Day 3 - Seedling popped through the soil! Let the long journey begin. Sprayed top again to keep humidity up and soak the seed shell to help it shed easier.
Day 5 - Seedling de-shelled completely and opened its cotyledons. Misted her again today to keep humidity up.
Day 8 - Misting daily to keep humidity up. Watered today using around 100ml bottled water to wet around the tap root. Lowered light slowly to get her closer to the light since she is currently at the back of the grow tent. She seems to be growing normally. Will let her grow out for a couple of weeks in peace and then we will start training and heavy lifting. Want to fill out most of the tent until I harvest the two autoflowers growing with her.
Day 11 - Lady Magdala growing like the queen I hope she will be. Second set of true leaves developing. Growth looks very compact. Awaiting explosive vegetative growth phase soon. Still misting nearly everyday to keep humidity up.
Day 13 - She seems to have entered vegetative stage as now growth has taken a faster pace. The start of side branches can already be seen popping out from between the small leaves and main stem. Constructed a mock-up of the frame I plan to use to SCROG this lady in the future. Still have to put it in the tent. More of that next week. Watered her with about 100ml of bottled water.
Day 14 - Today is the day that we start training. Topped her after the second node. Watered with 2 litres of bottled water to start moistening those 15 gallons of soil.
Day 15 - Lady Magdala has recovered from the topping. Now she has 4 main growing points. Perfect to start my mainlining project with her. Pretty excited!!!
Day 18 - She recovered from her first topping. Now she has 4 main shoots for me to work with. I have about 2 feet until she reaches her planned SCROG net height so she is going to be a big one for sure! Planning to "mainline" without it being too horizontal. So topping and removing any growth underneath to keep only mains but not use as much LST as a traditional mainline. I plan to do this until she reaches her SCROG screen and then switch to flower. By then the 2 autos growing with her will be done.
Day 21 - Second round of topping done today. Topped 4 main growth points, turning them into 8. Growth seems slightly deformed, I mean only the leaves are not as uniform as one might expect. Hopefully she corrects herself. Watered with 2 litres of water and gave first dose of nutrients to this lady.
Fungus gnat problem seems to be correcting itself since I removed a lot of plant mass and installed the yellow sticky pads. Other than that, everything seems dandy... 😃
Day 25 - She is growing like a beast! Watered her yesterday with 2 litres of water with the nutrients listed above. Trained 2 "main growth" tips (first topping) down to let lower 2 side branches to reach up to them. From then onwards it should keep a canopy itself by still topping at each node and some LST when really needed.
Day 28 - Performed another round of topping, thus creating 16 main growth tips. Removed all big fan leaves and left only top-most growth. Super-cropped the 2 top main branches coming out of main stem to help first 2 side branches to catch up in height as using only LST was definitely not working! She is showing a lot of vigour, I am very happy. Watered her again with 2 litres of only water with no nutrients to give her a short break.
Day 36 - Another round of topping for this lady, giving her 32 main growth tips. Performed some more LST on her to even the canopy out and open her up a bit from the base for better air flow through her.
Day 45 - Gave her 2 litres of water with nutrients listed above. Performed mayor LST and some HST over the past week to try and keep an even canopy. She lost her symmetry. Some branches grew way faster than other ones so I had to bend some down to at least keep a canopy. Decided to give her a break from topping for now to let her grow out before topping again for the last time. Planning for 64 main tops as I will have a 64 square SCROG net to fill out.
Day 50 - This lady completely lost her symmetry. I kind of neglected her lately. Don't get me wrong, she is well taken care of BUT I slacked a lot when it comes to LST for canopy maintenance.
Planning to let her bush out with no topping for a bit and then stick her under a screen when both autoflowers growing in the same tent are harvested (One in one week, the other in about 4-5 weeks by the looks of it). I will have to work with the situation I'm in! 🤣🤣🤣
Watering her tomorrow with the usual 2 litres of water with the nutrients listed above.
Day 52 - Topped her again! I promised myself I would not, but I could not keep myself! 😂
Now she has 64 main growth tips with another 64 side shoots which I do not know if I'm keeping or not. They are staying on for now. She is growing like a beast.
Day 62 - She is slowly becoming the bush I imagined her to be. Did some more LST to open up the canopy and make it as even as possible. Topped where I could not bend.
She will soon get the tent for herself when I chop down the Purple Punch Auto growing next to her in about 3 weeks. Then she will go under a SCROG net and switched to flower.
Day 66 - Stripped down a lot of leaves as the canopy was becoming too dense for my likings. Bent down what branches I could in the space that I currently have and topped any branches that were growing straight up with nowhere to bend down. She is a very vigorous plant. Expecting her to fill out again in a week.
Fed her yesterday with 4 litres of water using the nutrients listed above.
D87 - Canopy still filling up. Planning to make the switch in a couple of weeks. She is already showing signs of pre-flower. Confirmed female plant. She is begging for me to switch her light schedule, but I want more cover! We will find a compromise! 🤣
Currently drinking 4-5 litres of water every 3-4 days. Water intake increased with temperature increase due to local summer temperatures.
Day 89 - Second net with smaller squares installed. When this net is mostly filled I will switch to flowering. Some tops are already popping above the new net.
Gave her a top dressing of just worm castings and watered with 4 litres of water only. Will have to do some daily canopy maintenance these coming days till net fills out and all lower growth removed.
Day 92 - Flipped her to 12-12, I couldn't wait any longer! 😂 Watered with 4 litres of plain water.
Day 93 - Everything seems to be going according to plan. Slight upward growth (do not think she started stretching yet) and maybe a slight increase in pre-flowering showing (white pistils) but definitely not due to the switch. Will start dosing her with flower nutes from next watering.
Day 99 - Cleaned all of the underside below the second net. Watered with 4 litres of water with nutrients listed above.
Day 104 - Watered with 6 litres of water with nutrients listed above.
Day 105 - All flower sites are shooting out lots of Pistils, plant still shows signs of stretch and I think she still has a bit more to go before she settles into her finishing height.
D113 - Watered her with 6 litres of water with nutrients listed above.
D115 - Watered her with 6 litres of water with nutrients listed above. Buds started stacking. Stretch phase seems to have stopped.
Day 120 - Gave her an Aloe Vera juice soil drench for the first time to try things out. Read it does miracles for soil health. Buds still pushing white pistils. Still no smell. Very pleased at how the plant looks.
Day 127 - Buds still swelling up and quite dense already. Still mostly white Pistils with some orange ones here and there. No noticeable odour yet, trichomes still very small. Would say close to a month left on this lady.
Day 135 - Buds still swelling. Some leaves turning yellow slowly. Not sure if some deficiency or plant starting to fade. In my opinion it's still early for her to start fading as most Pistils are still white and calyxes have not swollen yet.
Finally I noticed some smell when I touched a bud. Smells mostly of citrus, both sweet and sour. Other than that everything else is plain sailing. Watering every 2 days with 6 litres of water, twice with nutrients listed above and the third time with plain water.
Day 140 - Buds still swelling and got slightly sticky. Smell disappeared again. Found a couple of seeds in 2 buds, she must have hermied at some point without me realising. Will still let her go full term then assess the damages after harvest. Hopefully it's not very bad.
Plant started fading, flushing started yesterday with 6 litres of plain water. Most Pistils turned orange, plant reaching its final days.
Started her life pretty normal. Vigorous growth and took training like a champ. Started flowering after about 2 months in veg while light schedule was still 18-6. Not just a couple of pre-flowers, she STARTED flowering with stretching and the whole nine yards. Flipped her to 12-12 after about 3 weeks of "flower".
She hermied at some point and I found a couple of seeds in 2 buds. Hopefully the damage is not as bad as I am imagining. I would say that I am not happy with the outcome of this grow. Could be due to unreliable genetics or to a number of other factors coming from my side like excessive heat and other stress factors. She has no smell whatsoever, smells like freshly cut lawn. Trichomes present but not sticky to the touch. Currently hanging to dry.
Well you win some and you lose some. We learn as we go through experience. Hopefully the end product is not as bad as I'm imagining it's going to be! 😂
Moving forward to next grow season after she's jarred up and tent thoroughly cleaned.
