Hey all!
I go through phases every few months of getting a new hobby and this time round me and my brother were joking about growing some girls. Did some research and thought why not give it a go! Currently growing Fast buds - Tangie O' Matic as it came as a highly recommended strain in terms of finished quality and grow difficulty. we got 3 seeds after reading its around a 2/3 germination rate and was assuming we would have 2, and then little Suzie popped too! they were planted straight into their big pots as I had read Autos can be a little fussy if they're moved.
Did glass of water and left for 24 hours to soak then moved to a damp paper towel till they cracked and grew tap root to around an inch and then moved into their 5 gallon fabric pots
Isabelle had a slight incident where I had read that breeze is good for them....I failed to read the part where TOO MUCH will ruin their leaves, so she got a little bit twisted and wind burnt (All part of the learning) I guess. Suzie and Chloe were starting to gain leaves by the day and really started getting some nice shaping
This week I tried a LITTLE bit of LST on Suzie and Isabelle, however with it being my first grow, Isabelle didnt seem to respond well to this at all and folded all her leaves down. With her already being wind burnt I decided to keep Suzie in for a few days however she then started folding down too so I freed her! starting to get more leaves at this point and it was nice to see the day by day bulk up!
With the new growth happening day by day there was a faint herby mint smell that could be smelt when the tent was opened when I was checking on them. And the first 7 point fan leaf appeared which was almost picture perfect to what I had imagined haha! It was also this point I had noticed early in the week that the light was too high I should have dropped it to 16 inches away when they started growing HOWEVER they didnt reach so there wasnt too much height growth just some bushing up for these 2 weeks however this was fixed and now they seem to be growing well!
This week they have started BULKING. They were a little droopy and I watered them a little extra and over night they perked right up so I have upped their water and nutes a little per day. And I can visibly see everyday the growth. Their bud sites have started to peek to the top of the canopy so if my assumptions are correct I believe next update we will be in full flower mode :) Theyre growing around 1-2 inches a day currently in height and bulking up in bushiness! A lot of Isabelle's leaves seem to be coming with 9 fingers with the occasional 11 and I even have a weird 12 where there is 2 random fingers growing from the stem of the leaf. Their smell has DEFINATLY kicked in a little, if my room door is open without the filter on you can start to smell it as you come up the stairs! when checking them over im left with a citrusy herb smell which is lovely! Until next time!
Flowering is officially here! Growing around an inch per day and their site are popping up daily! I trimmed off a lot of the lower leaves to give the canopy a boost. Turned on my extractor fan to drop the humidity to avoid any bud rot where possible. This has meant theyre THIRSTY and have gone up to 1L of water a day. They dont overly smell unless theyre touched. In which case a citrussy smell lingers in the air and on anything that touches it! (Its a delightful smell) I added a tower fan to help the lower part of the tent get some air flow as I saw the humidity round the base creeping up. Even with the extractor. Looking forward to how they plump up this week! Isabelle appears to have a bud growing from one of her leaves which after the extra fingers mutation this is awesome to see!
All 3 have carried on shooting up, while Isabelle has slowed down and is only growing around an inch a day her main stem buds are coming along nicely, while Suzie is somewhere in the middle of growing more mid sized sites and Chloe seems to still be putting all of her energy into growing in height and growing more budsites rather than working on the ones she has, A LITTLE bit of sugar starting to build up on Isabelle's' leaves, but will be nice to see how they all change and develop over the coming few weeks!
A singular leaf that is below the main canopy on Chloe has lost some of its colour and has got odd brown spots on. I cut it off as I assumed it was from lack of light, however some quick research has shown that it could be a lack of Manganese, would this appear over the whole plant? or will it start in just singular leaves?
Few leaves starting to fade on Chloe, not sure if this is just her using some of her nutrients, however ill be dropping off the Gro and Calmag this week and focusing solely on Bloom and Micro to start fattening up their buds as they all seem to have stopped in height growth (LUCKILY) Chloe without any LST has shot up to around 7 inches above Isabelle, if I move the light any higher then I risk harming Isabelle's yield,
With being in work so much my maintenance has been so little so just watering them, but gave them some love today and did some trimming and removing of new buds which seem to have all popped up over night with me upping their bloom mixture,
It's been an interesting experiment with me wanting to learn the basics and more about them, I gave them a few varied times of LST when they were smaller and its been VERY interesting too see how even a small amount of LST can affect their height and how they grow.
Isabelle seems to be maturing a little faster than the other two which is concerning a LITTLE only because she seems to be about a week ahead and already starting to see a few Amber Trichomes so will have too see how she gets on. with her being so shorts and Chloe being so tall I had to give her a boost as Chloe had basically grown into the light so she has a little booster seat. Judging by similar grows on here I'm gonna guess they have around 2-3 weeks left of flower at most. I'm actually gonna really be sad to see them go. it's been an awesome experience watching them grow from seeds into full plants, as I stated at the start this is the first time I have ever grown anything from a seed. Can't wait for them to be finishing up and reap the rewards!
Had some MAJOR issues this week, fell a little compliant on my taps PH being fine and ended up back firing HARD. when suddenly my water dropped to around 5.2 PH. which ate 90% of my fan leaves leaving them brown and decaying. Buds seemed to be fine. on top of this I hadn't readjusted my light with the extra growth which Im not sure if that hurt them but I topped it back up to 15 inches away.
Few more leaves died this week after cutting off most of the dead ones, fixed the PH and went back to the nutes I was doing before the mess up. Did another big trim at the end of this week, looking at how the buds are all growing, sadly while I thought Isabelle was going to be the biggest yield Chloe and Suzie have EXPLODED this week, Frost really kicking in now and the smell grows by the day.
This week I haven't noticed a huge difference. Maybe some densening of the buds, with me seeing them everyday at this point its getting hard to see anything change drastically. Chloe is drinking around 2 Litres of water a day and Suzie and Isabelle are on around 1-1.5L. The humidity is staying around 35% which im not sure with it being so low its hindering however it does fluctuate back up when they've been watered. Keeping an eye on Trichomes and seeing a LOT of clear still, with it being a heavy leaning Sativa strain I've read itll be a little slower but keeping an eye on it and making sure theyre fed and watered is my only plan atm :) A few friends have suggested it'll be another 2-3 weeks till chop. But im not expecting huge growth in that time
With the over nutrienting last week. It pretty much mutilated all my big fan leaves so chopped them back leaving smaller leaves and sugar leaves. In hindsight I shouldn't have panicked. While I think the remaining leaves can hold up the level of energy needed. Maturing seems to be very slow. Clouding of Trichomes is starting and buds have DEFINITELY swelled and densend up alot the past week! Should be ready to chop next week! Just hoping I didnt massivly hurt my yield choping big leaves. But. Learning experience either way!
Ended up with 7oz Dry and trimmed and 3oz of shake and trim after the dry, THINK it dried a little to quick, as I harvested it the temp shot up so keeping it cool and the humidity at 60% was impossible even with humidifier. HOWEVER very smokeable right after dry, had it in grove bags for 3 weeks now and has defiantly changed in the flavour to show those citrusy after tastes! wonderful head high one that you could go ahead with your day and have a lovely time!
