I'm using 2 300 watt LED's. I know others that use 1k LED's and pay around $100 for the lights. Does anyone have knowledge about LED power and bud size / yield? I think I'm under powered. Considering 2 of these: King Plus by KingLED Link: http://a.co/d/aDKAnY2

Hi @TaDaaDa! Well, if you want a combination, good spectrum+power+coverage, you should look for "QuantumBoards", these panels rely on Samsung mid power LED (lm561c or even better lm301b) which are the new big thing in the growing industry. These are probably the most effective grow lights onto the market nowadays. Growers with good coverage usually get more than 1g/w. The drivers are dimmable, so you can control your light power (and your electricity bill). They're usually dimmed at 25% during veg stage and 75% during flowering stage, depending on the driver's power capacity and the size of the board(s). If you cannot afford the official QuantumBoard from HLG, you can try to go DIY, many companies are selling the same boards they use at HLG. Hope this will help, keep us up-to-date and happy growing 👊

Harvest or wait longer? See microscope images on week 12 and bud pics. 10% amber under the microscope. To me, just looking at the bud with my naked eye, I'd say wait a little longer as all the hairs have not all curled in yet. Also, please comment in the comment section too.

Hey hey ! all clear trykes means she's ready to come down whenever (for me but i like all up highs, clear and creative you know!). Give a couple more flushes but keep checking those trykes they can turn over night - when you start seeing the first ambers it's time for three days of dark, then the chop ! good luck crossing the finish line ! 🚀

I'm totally high right now, but what if I accidentally came up with some crazy growing technique where after accidentally starving the plant right at flower then after it struggles I give it food. This results in a bud that is more desperate to be pollinated and somehow creates a unique product or high quality product. Anyway, we will find out because that is what has happened. Most times accidents create the big discoveries. Can't get mistakes / accidents though if you aren't even playing the game and that is the only way to learn in life.

Hey guys I just wanted to put in a quick comment at week 8 flowering an Auto. This method is way easy. It's actually blowing my mind how easy it is. I took extra effort to top, FIM and defoliate, but one wouldn't have had to do that. I'm not using a PH meter. I'm not measuring PPM's. I'm not trying to figure out how much liquid nutrients to add and what kinds to add at what moments. I'm not stressing over filtered water. Now, the results have yet to be experienced and I think it is probably safe to say I'll have a low yield on the topped plant and average on the FIM'ed one, but damn. This is super super easy. I'm also using 2 300 watt LEDs. These are not very powerful AND not very expensive AND not hot. They also use about $12 a month of electricity. I know everyone here is using liquid nutrients, but I'm telling you, this is crazy easy and could be done with zero effort.

Fishing sinkers for training, such a good idea
TaDaaDa
TaDaaDa
@babbabluespear, Thanks! That was an original idea. :-) Works really well. Buy the 2 oz and the 2.5 oz and then use the tomato training wire. You can double up on the branch if it's super strong and then just adjust and move outward as it grows out of the training. If the weight is more than enough to train and bends too much, lengthen the wire and rest the weight in the soil. Adjust the length and bend to the exact training bend you need!

@Danweedman, thanks. Looks like both plants roots have now reached the super soil at the bottom of the coco loco pot. Plant 1 is really doing well and showing no signs of any issues. Plant 2 is good too, but not as fast of a grower and not as fragrant as of now.

@Mrs_Larimar, I think it's quite clear that plant 2 ran out of nutrients from the Super Soil and it affected it's bud size. It was not the light. One pot I put almost double the Super Soil in the bottom and it is the one doing much better. I raised the lights back up to 18 inches as it was burning when I went down to 10 / 12 inches. I watched it close and as soon as I saw the burn I moved it back so not much damage was done. Everyone says 1 lbs super soil per gallon of pot but mine takes about double that. Plant 2 was 5 lbs and clearly it was not enough. Hopefully plant 2 will finish strong using Canna Coco.

Hello @TaDaaDa ! I would definitely wait maybe 7-10 days. I don't really see many amber trichomes. Have you already flushed it ? If not then you need to start flushing. Happy growing ! 👊

@TaDaaDa, Hi, i would harvest the "red one" these Plant looks very ready to me. with the other one you can wait a few more times
TaDaaDa
TaDaaDa
@mad_scientist, OK point taken. This go around I want a baseline that is the least amount of effort. So this time I won't be running extra water through the plant. In either case, I still only water with tap only the entire process. So the difference would be to over saturate and create a ton of run off for a "full flush". Next time I will try that but I want to see what quality I can produce with the least effort this time. Thanks for the info on this especially related to Organic growing!

@TaDaaDa,@TaDaaDa, super soil doesn't need flush is so so wrong. Again one huge misconception from people who don't understand the science of organic growing. Super soil doesn't need flush only if its made properly. Let me explain. When you make a super soil you mix your basic soil with organic amendments. These amendments at their majority (except all guano's and blood meal) are not available to the plants until the microbes in the soil decompose them. A proper recipe of super soil in order to not need a flush must be able to give only the amount of nutrients a plant will need for its entire life and not more. So if a plant starts to showing deficiencies ( especially nitrogen ) near the end of its life then you know the recipe is good. If it doesn't then you know that you put too many amendments or you had a bad ratio of regular soil and super soil. At the second case inside the soil there are nutrients at mineral form ( decomposed from the microbes and available to the plant ) and amendments that have not decomposed yet ( not available for the plant ). So what you have to do is to flush in order to get rid of that mineral nutrients so the plant will use its own. After the flush microbes will continue to decompose any amendment that have left in the soil but at lower but at lower rates since most of them have already decomposed. Off course flushing with molasses is again a huge misconception since these carbohydrates give a huge direct energy to the microbes that will start to decompose again at very high rates. What i am trying to say is super soil or not if you over do it you will have buds full of nitrates that make the smoke harsh and destroying the beautiful taste that organic growing can give.

in my experience you always want to start your autoflower in the same container its going to live its entire life cycle in. they do not do well being translated. they shoot one really long tap root all the way to the bottom of the container and once it hits the bottom it knows to start growing. when you move them around it messes with their root confusing them. im sure she will do alright for you. give it a try next time to compare :)

@TaDaaDa, i have topped a auto. She did alright. Check our my mainline dark devil diary. Shes the one i mainlined. I topped her at the third node maybe even the second. I wouldn't do it again thou. Ive noticed humidity doesnt play much of a factor for me. The roots are very important thou.

I use 2 300w LED fixtures myself and don't have any issues in my 2'x4' tent. You could try upping the wattage more light should produce larger yields, but it may also burn your plants. By the way, I checked your link and am amazed how cheap LED fixtures are getting. At $120 for 1000w its probably worth trying. Let us know what you decide. And good luck! 👍

@DudeGrowsWeed, I don't think I want to deal with the heat but go for it and let us know! I'll probably experiment on the next grow with two 1k or 1.2k LEDs. At the same time I'm very curious to see how my pruning / defoliation works with my 300 watt LEDs. In the past my buds never got so much direct lighting and never got this much breeze.

@TaDaaDa, I'm planning on setting up another tent this fall and will be purchasing some new lights. I'm doing a lot of research into LEC's and COB LED's now. Not sure which way I will go yet. But I have a buddy growing monster plants under 2 315w LEC's now. He is scrogging, but has only 2 plants completely filling up his 4'x8' tent and yields over a pound per plant.
TaDaaDa
TaDaaDa
@DudeGrowsWeed, I know someone who yielded 334 grams from one plant NOT Scrogged. The other plant yielded 188. If you look on here it is really hard to find anyone with those LED results. He used 2 off brand 1k LEDs. He grew in Coco. I'm going to up my lights next grow for sure. I still think based on my experience and especially confirmed here on this site that the low watt <= 300 watt LED's just won't grow monster crops. Monster meaning 334 grams on one plant NOT Scrogged. Insane and it was a first time grow.

Sorry forgot to mention earlier TaDaa that your dairy this last week shows PH 7.5. That could also be a problem. If your growing in soil try to get it in the 6.3-6.5 range. Your plants look fine in my opinion. Nice and healthy and flowering good. I’m not too familiar with that strain but if it is Sativa Dominant it still has 3-4 weeks left maybe. That would allow it lots of time to swell up for you. I think your lights are okay but if you did want to purchase more I would recommend Neil’s Perfect Sun line of lights. Any model from Dwarf star to Goliath depending on your grow space size. Or the newer COB diy lights that use the HLG drivers. Check out HLG or ChilledLED. These are the lights that have everyone’s attention lately. Best of luck with your growing bro 👊

@TaDaaDa, our most welcome. And experimenting is great, that is how we learn and grow. The plants do not look harmed at all so what you are doing is working quite well. 18 inches sounds a lot safer 😊. My house I just use AC to control the entire house. Being in the basement sure helps the temps highs. Maybe you could invest in a small AC unit for the room your growing in? Where I am I could find a unit for $75-100. Will check back on your grow soon. Nice chatting and best of luck with the girls 👍👊

@JusGrowIt88, I agree that 7.5 is not ideal. I am trying an experiment this time around to see what I can grow with the least amount of effort. No nutes (homemade composted and amended soil), no PPM, no hydro, no PH of water and finally using tap water (hence the 7.5). Plant 1 is starting to put on weight and plant 2 will come around I think, but it's growing completely different. Only variables are that it is under a different 300w LED and it sprouted 3 days after plant one. It seems like it is 2 to 3 weeks behind plant 1 even though it's only a few days. Plant 1 went to flower very fast. When I moved the lights super close I watched it closely everyday and when I saw burn I moved it back. I didn't know until then how close I could get. I think I'm solid now at 18 inches. As far as temps, I can't really get lower temps as the area does not have AC but is in a cool/er area. Thank you for the good ideas and suggestions on lights!
