This little one has really started to bush out, now..! I was a little concerned at how tiny it was, so I'm glad it took a bit longer to flower. The issue with the leaves going into a "seagull" shape is back, which was said to be overwatering by the guys - but the soil is dry enough and a few of the older leaves (with the more lizard-like feel) have started to do it. If I push in the centre, then they twist upward, so I am wondering if this is the plant actually trying to twist the leaves up, but getting stuck and so it only appears down - in which case it would be simply a genetic issue, and nothing to do... Either way - the Dwarf is looking good, and I can see why it is called "Dwarf" now :D // The dwarf is now even shorter..! :D haha I've managed to get it another inch lower, and it is around 1/2 of the way along one side of the pot only... Very uncertain that the Dwarf will make it even to the next corner for the bend, but eh well :p Today was tying again for the LST, and tucking - I've stressed the stem so hard, I can hear it wanting to relax. Well, Dwarf..! The only way to relax is to grow more! I've uncovered a few buds that were caught growing out of place, and put them back in line. Looking good! The leaves might not be the most attractive, but they are certainly small enough (and the starter buds, they are tiny formations!) to be a potential bonsai candidate..! Shame it's an auto - I'll have to ask RQS about finding some stock that hasn't been flowering so well and needs switching :) These autos - I am starting to love them. It's just a case of put in the seed and that's it - although... tbh... I would like to defoliate and train a bit more than simply bonsai-bending them. This guy responds well to LST, and it very pliable. Bounces back within one light cycle. Not very thirsty, so I guess the roots are not so big as I expect - but with the growth spurt this week, hopefully it will start drinking up everything it can get! :D So - even though all the other Dwarfs died before they were born (pretty much) - I am glad this one came up and, tbh... I will do it again to make sure this isn't a fluke. So +1 for RQS Royal Dwarf - I will not be so harsh with the review as I have been in the past, now that there is the plant to actually look at and enjoy growing :D The TS-1000 is really helping it get budding, so that was a good move. The initial light burn has been resolved now that it's using it, and getting an even bathe :) // Today I have restrung the LST wires, and released the Dwarf from its bondage in a few places. With so many little buds and branches (every single one is going..!) I'm finding it difficult to locate the leader sometimes! I'm glad, now, that I finally managed to have a Royal Dwarf that lived past birth! It's actually a nice little plant, and you could easily fit this guy inside a computer case or something, with a small light - I think that 100 / 150w is more than adequete. You could probably get away with 30-50w, maybe, which would be fine inside a computer case with the fan running, powered off the block, there. It could be super-stealth in your office space, most def. He is a pocket rocket, for sure..! // Again with the LST tightening - it is now about 1/2 way along the side of the pot, having gone diagonal and been pulled back 180, same as the Widow. The Dwarf is even shorter again!!! :D Now less than half a pencil high! haha I think that, even though the leaves aren't the most attractive - and the bud formations are very tiny - that this is an excellent candidate for bonsai! Shame it's an autoflowering strain, so I'll have to talk to RQS about if they have any that have not been flowering without a switch - perhaps there's a similar strain..? There were a few flower clumps that were out of place, so they've been uncovered (found a few idk existed) and brought back into line. The spiral is going ok, but it definitely won't make it even a third of the way I had hoped :)

Grow Questions

Hi, Today I noticed a little drooping of the first leaves. Soil is moist so left it alone. This afternoon, the leaves are like seagull wings, and slightly raised around the edges. I'm not sure if this is the way Royal Dwarf are supposed to grow, but it looks like heat stroke.

Looks be over watering to me. Give them some space and keep temps stable between 22-26c, they should bounce back. Can add more perlite in your mix in the future to help avoid any other issues like this, or just use less water. It can be tricky to learn, I still mess it up sometimes. Good Luck!

Does this look like too much light to you..? Been under a crappy Castnoo 54LED pink light for 2 days while the weather has been bad, and the leaves are curling and I think I can see a yellow periphery there? Unsure. Only seen lampburn in pictures, never real life. Crinkly...

@homerjgangia, Thanks HomerJ - I hope they get moving. Hate to lower the success rate of RQS seeds...

Too much water! seedling need to search for water, so the root develops. Great root = great plant. Not on size only, general health. Wish you a great grow!

@Psilocubensis, Hey Psilo - I found something interesting today with this dude - You remember the leaves were going like a seagull before..? The 2nd set of leaves for this guy a week or so ago started to do the same thing, so I had a look and: It seems that if I pop the leaves with a little pressure, they can invert themselves and rather than doing the bird's wing - they will scoop upwards instead, as if they are taco'ing towards the light. This is kinda confusing, but I am thinking that - after seeing another journal where the plant was looking like a brussel's sprout, that it might be simply that it's some strange thing inherent to the breed..? It is only a few leaves that are doing it / have done it, and I would expect that all of the leaves would be showing signs of over/under-watering, no..? Perhaps it is something to do with humidity, as this guy feels a little dry to the touch on some leaves - I think that he needs higher temps, higher humidity and also less light that the others I have him with. Either way, this guy appears to be doing ok, and is really very tiny :p

@Psilocubensis,Seems as if you are right, Psilo..! Happy the Royal Dwarf has been showing signs off too much water already - this soil might not be so good. Tomorrow, if he is still alive, I will remove some and put in some gravel mix to help it drain a little faster.

@Psilocubensis, What do you think about seeds germinating in hydroponics..? I have today changed out the seeds from Royal Dwarf that did not germinate at all, for Northern Lights. I wonder if to germinate them out of the hydro and instead in something else before transferring them... but they are autos and I read to not mess with autos when they get going.

@Foxylove420, Those mushies are loving it in that potting mix for some reason. They shoot up within an hour or so and are gone by the next day.

@Kynareth, Thanks buddy! It's my first time in about 20 years, and I've never used auto's before. I've no idea why the Royal Dwarf seeds dislike the paper towel so much... These 2 are the only ones that have moved, being put into the Growit discs - but when they did, it was quick!

Happy growing mate Don't water to much, cannabis can handle dry environment for a bit but overwater is their enemy N°1 (put your finger in the soil and if it's dry you can water)
Teh_Saccade
Teh_Saccade
@GrowMyPips, You were right GrowMyPips - this potting soil is not draining so well! It absorbs the water so quick that it feels dry, unless I dig down under the fibre cup, which is where I found mud. I am going to repot him tomorrow. His roots are already 12cm long spreading out sideways! Fast little bugger..!
Teh_Saccade
Teh_Saccade
@GrowMyPips, Hey bud, it's tot the water that's the issue with these little guys - it's that they don't germinate. This one has had some strange things going on with it's leaves today. It looks like he's overheating but I can't think why...
