Terp_Djiny I have started the second round in terms of R&D from Grandma's Genetics. This time I'm checking how many are female. Depending on that, either the four autopots will be put into operation or they'll be watered by hand. Until I can figure that out, all of them will definitely stay.

Terp_Djiny Wednesday update. So far, everything is going well with the seedlings. Now to the essentials: I mixed the substrate last week. 70/30 Coco/Perlite with a bit of dynomyco mixed in for the little roots. 😉 So far, I've only given them pH-adjusted water with a splash of CalMag from BioBizz. However, I've only watered them twice so far. The first week is over. The little ones are growing and forming their first leaf pairs.

Terp_Djiny This week, the little ones got a bit of food in the form of fertilizer. The first real pair of leaves should be coming now. There's not much else to say. I think one more week in the small pots, then they'll go into the final 8L fabric pots.

Terp_Djiny This week I repotted the little ones. For the next few weeks, if not permanently, they will stay in the 8L fabric pots. The substrate is still 70/30 Coco/Perlite. When repotting, I added about 2 teaspoons of Dynomyco to all the seedlings to support root growth. So far, I've been watering every two days with 1.5L of water per pot. The EC value was at 1.4 and the pH value at 5.9. The rinseout was at EC 2.4 and pH 5.9, but that's due to the Dynomyco, as I've noticed in previous grows. The nutrient composition is described above. The starting water is rainwater mixed 50/50 with tap water.

Terp_Djiny Hey everyone, not much has happened this week. Just watching them grow and watering every two days. So far, the plants only differ in their internode spacing. That is, 3 have slightly larger spacing - a sign of Sativa - and 4 plants with shorter internodes - Indica. Let's see how they develop further. The watering hasn't changed so far, I think I'll raise the EC value a bit during the next watering. The light is set to about 70% power, there's already a bit of mass there.

Terp_Djiny By the end of the fifth week, the first ones are already showing their sex. So far, 2 out of 7 are female. The growth has noticeably picked up. The size of the fan leaves leaves me in awe. I’ve increased the nutrients a bit, and that has made an immediate difference. The plants are all a bit thirstier now. So, I’m watering every two days with 1.8 liters per pot. I also had to figure out the amount per pot to achieve a rinse out of about 10%. The values from the rinse out are acceptable. EC value at 1.0 and pH value at 5.9 stable. I’ve ruled out topping the plants. Tomorrow, I’ll use the scissors to cut out the lowest shoots and thin out the canopy a bit. After that, I’ll keep the lights on for another week at 18 hours before switching to the flowering phase. I hope that by then, all have shown their sex. As mentioned yesterday, there was a major cut today. Once the little ones recover from the shock tomorrow, I’ll tie the shoots down a bit so they don’t all crowd around the main stem and get more light.

Terp_Djiny So at the beginning of the week, I tied down the shoots of the individual plants a bit. They seem to have already recovered from the thinning. The growth continues. As you can see, of the seven, only 6 are left. 3 of them are definitely female. The other two are still taking their time with pre-flowering. And yes, one was a male, which I sorted out immediately. The rinseout is at pH 5.9 and EC 2.2. A bit elevated, which means for me, next watering will only be pH adjusted water. We want to wash the salts out of the soil; we don't want any nutrient lock. One plant has a one-sided shoot. I haven't had that before. At the end of the week, there will be new photos and a weekly wrap-up. The week is now over. I'm switching the light to 12/12 now. The three in the middle row aren't really showing their sex yet. That means I'll need to pay closer attention in the next few days. I've also turned the light to about 30% flowering now from the 100% growth.

Terp_Djiny The first week under 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness ends on Sunday. I unfortunately have to move the weekly report up, as I won't be around on Sunday. As you can see, there are only 5 plants left. One has clearly shown itself to be male, so I removed it immediately. For the remaining ones, I thinned them out a bit at the bottom. One of them hasn’t shown any signs of its sex yet. I guess I’ll have to wait a bit longer... the one in the back right definitely shouldn't stretch too much, or I'll have problems with the distance to the lamp and would have to "bend" it HST style. Otherwise, I’m very satisfied with the growth and leaf color so far. The rinseout is at EC 1.6 and pH 5.9.

Terp_Djiny Due to the height, I applied HST to one plant at the beginning of the week and "bent" the headbud at a certain height. It worked excellently. However, I secured the bent main shoot with a rope. When I looked into the tent this afternoon, the shoot was lying next to the pot and was cleanly separated. The rope was not under tension, just a support point for when the shoot stands back up. Well, it's gone now. Additionally, another plant is male. So there are 4 out of 7 that are definitely female. I'll post some new photos of the remaining ladies over the weekend. Until then, grow on.

Terp_Djiny The third week of flowering is almost over. I hope the stretch is done. Otherwise, I might actually have a height problem. Two plants have settled at about 85cm, one at around 96cm, and one at 70cm. The development of the flowers is quite different for all four. I cleaned and refilled the tank today since I'm going on vacation for a week. Fingers crossed that they're all doing well when I get back. 😀

Terp_Djiny After a week, a lot has happened. The stretch is now over for all four. The one in the back left has the least distance to the lamp but seems to be handling it quite well so far. No signs of burnt leaves yet. The nutrient solution I prepared before the vacation has been completely consumed, and the pots weren't fully dried out upon my arrival. The system is just top-notch and highly recommended. I only took a few photos today and added a new nutrient solution to the tank.

Terp_Djiny Today I took another look at the lower buds. I quickly cut them all out, as can be seen in the last picture. Some pollen sacs have formed, but they haven't opened up properly yet. I hope it was early enough. The autopot system seems to be really good for the plants. The roots are growing through the fabric pots and are then stopped by the root barrier. Otherwise, the purple tips are very nice to see. And the first hairs are turning brown. Next week, the nutrients will be increased again. After that, just plain water.

Terp_Djiny The week is done. No more pollen sacs seen. Throughout the week, the buds have gained mass. More and more hairs are turning brown, but new ones keep growing back. The little ones are pulling about 25 liters of water away through the Autopots this week. Today the tank is empty again. It will be cleaned and then filled only with pH-adjusted water. Before that, I'll also flush all the pots with about 4 liters of water. Then the rinseout EC will be measured and flushed again as needed. More on that in the next weekly report. Additionally, I took the scissors to cut off some large fan leaves today.

Terp_Djiny The first week without nutrients is over. I think this week is the last one. In other words, the harvest will take place within the next 7 days. The trichome heads are clearly visible in the last two pictures. They are nicely milky, some are still clear but also already amber-colored. In the next few days, we'll be checking more frequently to catch the best harvest time. The smell fills the whole house as soon as you open the tent, respect goes to the activated carbon filter. It does a great job. 😆

Terp_Djiny That was last week. The salts that have settled in the pots have all been flushed out. Since the beginning of the week, the rinseout EC has been at 0.3-0.4. This should mean the little ones are well flushed and ready for harvest. The trichome heads are milky cloudy, some still clear but also quite a few amber-colored ones. Slowly, the harvest time has come.

Terp_Djiny Overall, I really liked this grow. It's a shame that so many plants didn't make it. So far, I've only found a few seeds during the harvest but not a single open pollen sack. Hopefully, it stays at just those few sightings. It's possible that some of the initial pollen flew around the tent. That will be thoroughly cleaned after drying. Back to the strain, the growth phase was really nice to watch. Throughout their entire life cycle, the plants made a healthy impression on me and produced strong growth. The buds are very dense and covered in trichomes. If that doesn't turn into a flavor explosion! The smell is really sweet, with a hearty grassy note like you know it. Now it's time to let them dry and then into the jar they go.

Hey there friend. Would you be alright with me offering some pointers to help? Your looking great so far though!, Cannabis plants LOVE heat and humidity. It is the buds that hate it. In veg we want to take advantage of this fact to help our plants grow along much quicker and more vigorously. In veg we can look for temps of 79-84 MAX with lights on & no more than 9 degrees less with lights off. If we allow for too much temperature swing between lights on and lights off while the plant is still growing vertically up to day 20 of flower, We will cause the plant to stretch ALOT which we do not want. So in veg & early flower, Keeping our temperature gaps nice and close between lights on and off is key. Utilizing humidity in our rooms during veg will also help out a lot with more rapid growth but we must introduce it properly. In our rooms we have our temperature and humidity set-points, But when we combine those 2 it forms a third set-point which is the most important & that is called VPD, Vapor pressure deficit. I strongly recommend every new grower or old grower who has not learned it yet, To study and understand it & implement it into your room, Logging your numbers daily. https://cerescann.com/importance-of-measuring-vpd/ For soil, We generally want to go for a PH of 6.1. This website does a GREAT job of illustrating it with a nice graph & very good detailed explanation for soil. https://autoflowerseedshop.com/cannabis-ph-chart-guide/ As we briefly touched on before, During veg & early flower we want our temperature gap's nice and tight to avoid stretch. Why exactly our plants stretch in response to this is a genetic trigger being activated by the environmental stress essentially telling the plant the end of the season is closer than it really is. In veg & early flower the plant is still in its first stage of development which is to grow up wide and tall so when it produces seed, It can cast them out nicely. Remember, Whether we are growing our plants for seed or bud their genetic responses do not change as they do not know any different. Once the plant has finished that first stage of growth by weeks 4-6 of flower with most strains, It is by day 20 of flower. Autoflowers you have to watch for it, But once the plant has finished this goal its new mission is to focus 100% on producing nice big flower clusters & to get very sticky so it can attract pollen to it successfully. So once that vertical growth is finished, We actually now want to begin to expose our plants to larger temperature swings between lights on and lights off. This will help activate that genetic response and allow us to draw out the most potential from the strain utilizing the plants genetic triggers to environmental stresses at the right times. We can also take this a step further with doing light deprivation in the last 2 weeks using less light to simulate cloud cover. Very cold feed temps on the last flush is very good too. If you do not have them already, Get yourself a good PAR meter & thermal laser temp gun to monitor your plant top temperatures & optimize how much light your plants are getting. We are currently in the middle of producing a very comprehensive tutorial series for everybody to learn from & understand how to grow the highest level craft cannabis all on their own. Our first 2 installments are focusing on the basic fundamentals and we are using autoflowers for them before moving onto more advanced series with photoperiods.
