Firstly a big thanks to the “selection committee” for my participation in this event 😂🌱🌿 and to the guys at RQS Spain for the amazing package I received 👍😍
So my setup this time round is the same, 2x2x5 by spider-farmer with the intelligent fan to go with it, I know 6 inch is overkill but I do plan on upgrading my tent and light in the future, the light I’m running is the XS1500 from Viparspectra, it’s a perfect light for my tent. I have a 6” oscillation fan from ram.
Soil is a Biobizz light mix/perlite/vermiculite mix at a ratio of 70/15/15 and I will be adding the easy boost supplied by RQS to this mix when I prepare the soil in a few days time, I am already using the 1 15L fabric pot supplied by RQS for the Fat Banana grow so I will be using a standard 12L fabric pot as is the closest size I have to hand.
I shall be using all other RQS grow accessories supplied for this grow 🤞👍🌱🌿
5th April: started 24hr seed soak
6th April: Used an Easy Start chamber that was also supplied by RQS, after mixing the pre supplied bacto pack in 1L of water and pre soaking the pot I popped in my seed and put it in a germination chamber and have left it now in the dark until I start to hopefully see life so 🤞
7th April: Noticed the seed had broke surface, 2 days and I’ll plant into final pot 😊
9th April: Stem is around 5cm with husk still attached, I have mixed in with around 20L of Biobizz light mix soil the 100g of Boost supplied for this grow by RQS and 5L of Vermiculite/Perlite mix (this is a mix for 2 pots) and filled the 12.5L fabric pot 3/4 of the way to the top with this mix and then topped the rest of the pot of with the Biobizz light mix (yes I’m high and going into extreme detail for some reason). I then transplanted the Purplematic seedling into this pot which I had sprayed a few times around the planting area with distilled water, the root of which was fantastic, I did bury about 2cm of the stem into the dirt but I’m not bothered about that. I coved the seedling with a plastic bottle bottom and and then watered 250ml of distilled water that was at a ph of 6.50 and 6.64 (2 electric sticks for a better average) around the bottle and then stuck my Viparspectra Xs1500 lights on to around 40% at 26 inches and will now wait until the cotyledons have fully emerged and the 1st set of leaves are visible and I can call time on a successful germination 😊👍🌱
11th April: fully germinated
Will now move onto veg cycle
Day 10 I started to use the easy plus supplied by RQS, have noticed in the past few days that my intelligent fan doesn’t seem to be turning off in auto on the settings I have pre-installed, I did do a full tent move about on day 11 so I maybe could of done something then? hope this doesn’t turn into a long term issue, however fat banana is starting to grow nicely 🌱👍
I have a 2x2x5 spider farmer tent with 1 passive inlet vent that is always a 1/4 open
My spider farmer intelligent fan is set at 80f and rh @ 60 for veg, I have a 6” fan that was set to go off every 30 minutes for 30 minutes on the hour during daylight hours and once for 30 mins every 90 mins during dark hours, that has changed slowly during the week to a point where yesterday I turned on constant during daylight hours and still at 30 mins every 2 hrs during the night and I am still using the personal mist humidifier that keeps the rh at a nice level anyway during this stage…
My Viparspectra xs1500 was set at 22” at the beginning of the week at 60% this has changed throughout the week and is now set at 19” and around 87%
My feeding pattern has been
feed/water/dry day…repeat at 250ml
Lights on 8am
Lights off 2am
Water/feed time 8:30am/9:30am
She’s short so don’t know if I’ve stunted her, she’s been on the same watering schedule as the fat banana…I have only given ph’d water, from 29th due to an over abundance of nutrients. I did take a couple of huge fan leaves off that I considered “light blocking” on day 18 and she seems to have recovered well. Other than that it has been a good week
I know she’s a small plant anyways by stature according to the RQS website so maybe I was fretting when I thought she was stunted because she has just flourished this week, strong wide growth, went into flower boost this week too, did some light defoliation through the week just to spread the light, haven’t messed with her am not going to lst
She’s getting tall, flower sites are spaced apart. Purple hue colours are starting to appear on the flower buds so can’t wait for this to start taking colour. There’s no deficiencies that I can see and she’s a heathy looking plant.
Playing catch-up here because my phone has been in the repair shop…3 weeks behind updating, I have photos documenting my week but other than some defoliation for light penetration and watering every 2 days…..I can’t really tell much!
Again playing catch-up on 3 weeks whilst my phone has been in the repair shop, so this week I remember I had to take the intake fan out the small tent, the other plant got too big, I upped the water to 2L, again fed every 2 days using the RQS products supplied.
