No update last week sorry got busy. In week 10 of veg they were cruising along and got bushy as can be from the heavy Defoliation. I wanted to give them a chance to really recover unlike usual before doing any more cutting or defoliating. Now we are in week 1 of veg and the single GMO Zkittlez needed nutrients so I gave it 21 ml/g of the A and B, 9 ml/g of Voodoo and Bud Candy and 10 ml/g of Cal-mag plus since I know it's a heavy feeder from growing GMO sherbet in the past. The rest will be getting the listed nutrient mix this week on their next watering. I defoliated them heavy this week again to allow any branches to stretch to the net that want too. I also took off any branches that were dying from being severely shaded, that just would be in the way later on, or were not worth keeping. I added in some green lacewings (eggs as we speak) to keep any pests at bay and prevent any future issues as part of my new organic IPM regimen. Everything looks amazing and I can't wait to see the end result!!
All the plants except 2 (same pheno) recovered well from the last defoliation. The only two that didn't were the GDP #4, but I noticed they were super dry a day or two after defoliation and I had watered on the day I defoliated. I gave them a full nutrient feeding as listed for last week because they were super yellow up top and it helped a lot. Though they are a little behind the rest I expect them to recover fully given some time. All I'm doing this week is trying to manage the stretch a little if I can and fill in the trellis net.
Everything looks great minus the stunted Pheno. I'm not sure since I'm growing that pheno for the first time if the caps are supposed to look smaller compared to the other two phenos or if it's the issue we've talked about before. Still battling the thrips. I've put the DE on the top soil of all mothers and vegging plants and got 5k green lacewing eggs instead of 1k and hung them in each area as needed. I will continue the lacewings every cycle from now on as well as the DE to hopefully take care of the issue soon. Only given them water since the last time we talked and the next watering will be nutrient time to prepare for the stacking phase of growth. Until next time folks, be safe and happy holiday weekend! (Pics are from yesterday meant to upload this sooner)
Didn't get a pic from last week, but I'll do a second update at the end of this week to make up for it. I spent a few hours each day of last week and today defoliating and heavily debranching these beasts post-stretch. The GDP and GMO Zkittles were easy as they had average spacing for their size, but the Blackberry Breath had closer node spacing and what seemed like twice the branching making it quite the workload. It was much needed as all the branches in the middle were heavily shaded and would have either died and caused rot or mold issues later or performed poorly due to where they were located. I will note this for next time. Gave them nutrients June 1st. As of today I have 2 more to do then I'm finished doing anything to them just watering and feeding as needed until the end.
Everything is going pretty well. I let them dry out a day or two too much and some of the leaves dried out a little, but not too bad. I have been sick the last few weeks off and on and sometimes just procrastinate due to prioritizing rest over the grow, but I made it a point to check a couple days ago when I remembered it was time for watering. The 3 phenos of GDP all look different. #2 is a seemingly all green pheno on the buds/crowns probably leaning more towards the JH lineage. #3 has a couple purple tipped calyxes so I'm excited to see if it stays or was just a trick of the eyes during flower (lol). #4 has a blueish-green tint to the buds. #1, which is not flowering yet, and #4 both had clones with purple on the underside of the leaves when they got a little deficient after rooting, so I am expecting some color from the #4. The next nutrient feed will probably be sometime next week as their next feed is water only then nutes. All in all the next few weeks are just watering and feeding as needed. Auto pilot from here on out😎.
Meant to update this yesterday so this will be an update for the end of week 6 (day 42). Pheno 3 of GDP is showing quite a bit of color as are the Blackberry Breath as they start to fade. Everything is going well just hoping they bulk up and start forming colas as much as I hope they all will. Frost is pretty decent throughout with BBB being extremely frost for still having 3 weeks left. Not much to report other then that. I will do a week 7 update in a few days. Maybe more towards the end of the week from now on since harvest time is coming soon.
Still on cruise control. Had 1 plant crisp up early from the late watering a couple weeks back. I think cutting the cal-mag out at week 3 may have hurt the BBB and GMO Zkittles some as they yellowed out earlier then I would have liked. Either that or they got hungrier and I didn't correct it, but I will watch it more closely the next time I run it. First set of pics are the beginning of week 7 and the last set are from end of week 8 as marked. I will post an end of week 9 update before harvest and week 10 will be bud shots either after drying then week 11 will be off the branch shots or I may wait and combine both into week 10.
Chopped the BBB down at day 60. It's has a very strong blackberry/pine/freshness that lingers on your fingers for a while after touching it. Tried a sample from a plant chopped around day 56 and the high is very strong and not recommended for new growers. I've been smoking for 15+ years and recently brought my tolerance down a lot and it was almost too much for me after just a few hits of a blunt. Would be more enjoyable in a flower vape or a bowl taking a hit every 30 mins as needed. Great medicine!
This strain grew slow in veg and remained pretty short and compact, but bushes out. It handled the nutrients and training well and I would definitely grow it again.
This is a strain I plan to keep around for a long time. They happy with the nutes given to them all through veg and flower and didn't give me many problems. Small to medium size plants that all had some amount of purple on the buds.
This plant was a dream to grow. It was tall, grew vigorously, and handled the nutes the best of all 3 strains no issues. Bulks up late into flower so be prepared to let it go the full 10-11 weeks and top early and often.
