The helmet-head plant is still plodding on. I got one of those 100x Phone camera microscopes, though its still pretty random getting it to focus on stuff. I gave it a feed this week just to see what it does. I will follow with just water from now on.

Thoughts on my yellowing leaves? I'm currently thinking the compost I bought my be too nutrient rich, check the 9th week in my Afghan Pearl CBD. I obviously need to learn from any mistakes I inadvertently make.

This problem goes hand-in-hand with your issue of fungus gnats... but if I hadn't seen that question/issue, I would have missed it! Yellowing leaves mid-way up the plant is indicative of overwatering... which will also cause fungus gnats to take up residence.... so one solution (water only when soil is very dry) will take care of both your issues (fungus gnats and yellowing leaves).... Good luck!

When the time comes to harvest, is it OK to take the top of the plant off to dry first and leave the lower buds to develop more? Thanks

If you have 1 plant. And she's your only lady. Then why not. Just lower the diet, you don't wanna flush now, but you do want to visit lower the substrates overall ppm (the food left in the substrate) you can just let her eat tat for a few days and then take most of the top and all the sites on the top of the node that is done. Cause say if you leave a big as done bud at the end of a node it stops drawing up enough food as the plant feeds from the top so when the top stops drawing up food you'll find that any big plant will struggle to finish all at once. I did it, harvest every bit of larf. 3 part harvest. Have a look. Now all the Larfy/ white hairy girl turned from 90% white to 100% Amber it just shows once ripening is done its done. So you won't get too much fattening. So what I would suggest, if lower parts of trichomes are still cloudy, you want to remove all done bud on them nodes that you want to mature the lower growth you need to trick that part back into feeding as the top buds on the nodes are done and telling your plant to stop feeding. Now I just lollipop the shit outta my grows, anyone looking on for the 1st time would probably be looking on in horror but really removing lil bits of larfy growth in pre flower or before it uses up energy that could of been used to make nicer quality bud on top. It's all about energy management. Feel free to DM me I've some experience restarting and stopping the feed process. Good luck.

The leaves turned like this after a feed and a Mosquito Bits treatment, guessing I over-egged it with the nutes? Plants getting close to me cropping them, might leave them to dry out from their last water then chop.

You're SO close to harvest, I wouldn't worry about the nute problem at all... I think you've got the perfect plan - let her dry out, water then chop! Good luck - and good smokes!

@eurorack, hey man, I have been making a few different blend, I have a small machine that uses IPA 99.9 as a solvent, takes all the good suff out the distills it down to a concentrate. I have found that if i DONT decarb it, I get the best effect for pain and stress relief. You dont get the THC high, but you still get a little buzz.

@eurorack, First time! Exciting :) Holy smokes, that's a potent 1:1 strain you're growing! I gotta pick up some seeds. I just harvested my first 1:1 grow and am looking forward to trying it in a couple of weeks.

@love_2_grow, Thanks. First time grower, already taking CBD drops for nerve pain and figured I'd have a go at growing to add a bit for some added THC.

looking good! Actually if you have a look at one of my first grows, with the purple buds, Plants look a little the same, and I think this was due to enviromental stress, I was trying to grow in a in a old fridge, in the middle of winter - so the 600watt HPS was to hot in a small space, and the incoming cold air was really dry...

@shiptony,Sounds like fun haha. I think my next step will be an extractor and filter, my grow area currently smells alright but if anything decides to get bigger it could stink the house out. I bought a Moisture/pH probe the other day, I'm proving to myself that my first Yellowy plant is retaining too much water.

I have found whenever I am facing some kind of nutrient issue, I try my best to leave those ugly leaves on. Because the plant is breaking the leaf down to compensate for the nutrient issue. I’ve noticed if I remove the ugly leaf during a potassium deficiency, for example, then the next fan leaf down the line becomes subject to potassium extraction from the plant. So in my attempt to minimize ugly leaves, I leave them on there until I’m confident I have resolved the issue. Then I can track it as well that way. Hope that helps, as always don’t hesitate if you need to remove something. Do what ya gotta do. Happy Growing!! 💪🌳

@shiptony, Yeah, the change from pre-flowers to slight bigger bud sites. I did some reading up too which half explained it, so really this has been flowering for a while. I also notice some tiny bits of frost on the leaves near the flowers.
