Hi everyone!
after my last soil session, i'm finally getting into hydroponics with automatic watering with coconut fibre and perlite!
I chose the GoGro system, with 15 litre pots; for a first time, I'm trying with automatics, not to be surprised by the eventual size of my new girls.
I'll put some pictures of the installation next week, when I'll have the girls out of the propagator. ✋
One of my N.L.'s is growing amazingly well, she seems to like it in the coconut!
A second one is out of the ground with a more classical timing; the third one on the other hand does not seem to want to participate in the party... 😒
At the end of the week, still nothing: not the slightest trace of hull on the surface nor of roots on the pellet. I have to come to terms with the fact that this will be a 2 plant session.
Each one will take full advantage of its own TS600 and more room; I hope they will give it back to me 👌
I'm preparing my autopots system slowly; they will join their final pot in a few days
ita missa est: the 3rd one never came out. Rest in peace. 👻
I hope to get a little more yield with my new setup:
soil -> coco/perlite
soil/manual -> hydroponics
Plagron Terra -> Sensi Coco pH perfect
11L pots -> 15L
LED 200w -> 280w
I'm not greedy: I would be satisfied with 50g/plant for this first run in hydroponics with an automatic strain.
We'll see, I'll keep my fingers crossed 👍
The GoGro system looks nice: easy to set up, no leaks in the little test I did, the tank and the valves of the pots seem to be well sealed, little chance to see parasites in my water!
By the way, so far this is the first advantage I find with coco: not a single fly in the soil during germination and beginning of growth, first time I don't have to worry about it!
My 2 plants are almost a week apart in their development, I continue to water manually for a week with power roots to ensure that the roots of the "youngest" stretch to the bottom of the pot.
I'm launching the GoGro system this week!
I prepared 10L, with demineralised water, to which I added 2ml A + 2ml B. I first watered manually one last time with 50cl per plant and 0.25ml of power roots.
Not the slightest leakage noted, first small victory. 😊
the valves distribute the water slowly, the coco soaks progressively; after a few hours, the substrate is wet but not soggy, a good sign.
considering the difference in development between my 2 plants, i topped one of them. i'll do it only once, i'll give up the mainlining with automatics.
this next week will be crucial: will the plants develop well, will they suffer from deficiencies or burnts?
we'll know soon!
interesting week with this first test of a self-watering system in coconut
first feeling: convinced 👍
a little stress at the beginning of the week : I made my mixture with 2ml A + 2ml B,
which was a bit too much for the smallest seedling, causing burns very quickly...
But fortunately, it recovered very well, and its development in 6 days is rather impressive.
The other one is growing wonderfully: in 6 days it has been topped, LST, defoliated,
and is so hardy that it will only take 2-3 days to look like a small lettuce again 😊
the 10 litres of solution were used up in 5 days. I put the same thing back in to see how long it will last this time.
The tank is 50 litres, so even in the middle of a stretch it will be enough for 2 weeks without worrying about watering.
long live coco, gogro, advanced nutrients, RQS, and of course GD!!! 👌
the week started with a novelty for me: the appearance of nematodes in my tanks...
strange little worms, which gather in the water and move in little spasms (see video 👆)
When I started growing, I bought a whole range of products against infestations, paranoid as I was (I'm sure others have experienced this 😅);
Among other things, I bought NeemAzal, neem oil in emulsion. So I took a chance.
I emptied my tanks, cleaned and dried the bottom, without much conviction as the worms must have been in the coco already.
I made a new soup with my fertilizer, adding 20ml of neem per 10 litres.
Well, I don't know if it was really the right product, but for the last 5 days there has been no trace of nematodes!
The water seems soapy, the grease film is more important than without the neem,
but if it takes the small sacrifice of a conscientious cleaning once a week, I'll gladly do it!
In any case, my plants are doing absolutely no worse :
the first one got its leaves back in 2 days, already forcing me to a small pruning 4 days later, now showing well several colas;
I also defoliated the 2nd one for the first time, which produced leaves already bigger than my hand in 2 weeks of life!
happy with this hydroponic experience so far 😊
after the "nematode week", here is a quiet week!
I noticed a small deficiency and switched from 2ml to 3ml of sensi bloom; the intense green returned in 3 days.
I also tried an addition often frowned upon by growers: bleach!
just 1ml for 10l in my tank: at the end of the week, not the slightest trace of worms or algae, and my plants are doing wonderfully!
to all the hydro afficionados, don't hesitate any longer, keeping a light hand!
absent for 2 weeks, i have raised my lamps 10cm, practiced a defoliation and a LST.
i hope the stretch will not be too explosive. but little chance to burn my plants with my LEDS anyway.
see you in 2 weeks! ✋
back from 2 weeks of holidays, a lot of apprehension in mind with the self watering without supervision...
and unfortunately, a bad surprise: the water supply to the valves had a blockage that I can't explain yet, and the girls were clearly out of water...
the 3 plants look like hardwoods in a spring drought, almost wilted, the leaves yellow at their feet. But these leaves did their job: the plants drew all they could from them, and kept themselves alive; one more week and it was over... fortunately I had postponed the defoliation for the return of the holidays!
I cleaned them and fed them a lot yesterday, and today I did some lollipopping; it's clear that I have to lower my harvest expectations, but they are safe and will go to term, no doubt about it
I will take good care of them this week, I hope to find nice bushy bushes at the end of this delay 👍
after a previous week of fearing the worst, this is the week of relief
the plants have recovered perfectly from the involuntary drought, gaining another 6cm, producing new leaves and swelling its buds
they are now only receiving Sensi Coco Bloom, and still a little bleach which is doing its job!
two seeds from the same lot, two different and interesting phenotypes!
in one week, while the plant on the right is stabilizing and slowly concentrating on its buds, the one on the left has exploded and taken more than 20cm in height, and almost as much in width:
contrary to the other one which produced 8 beautiful branches, this one continues to branch out and multiply its buds sites.... it likes its coco autopots! 😊
I had to raise her lamp twice in 6 days (I am glad I opted for two panels rather than one long one...),
I hope she will calm down quickly and fill her branches with big buds! 👌
I'm going to start adding some green sensation to the soup, that should help
these 2 seeds from the same pack are definitely different: the topped girl is massive, with multiple heads that are only starting to stop growing (i hope she will finally concentrate on her buds!), while the LST girl has a nice structure with 6 buds that are growing day by day.
one classic, the other with great potential... i love this session. 😊
miscalculation on my part at the beginning of the week: I doubled all the nutrients, confusing the volume of my cans... 😓
coco is not forgiving, the burns appeared the next day;
but fortunately, it is corrected just as quickly: I emptied the bowls and diluted the water in the tank, I performed a haircut on the two girls (one burned, the other a little wilted), and here they are in great shape at the end of the week. The resin appeared on the LST girl this week.
another thing: the bleach has already proved its worth; not a single worm in my water, no more smell of algae in the tank, despite a rather sporadic maintenance... 😏
On the left side, I didn't expect to get a plant of this size with an autoflo seed, known to be fast... Its branches are numerous and carry a hundred buds and twice as many leaves... My TS600 will have to work hard to make it all swell ! 😏
With all that it drinks and sweats per day, in my "little" tent, it's difficult to keep the humidity under 70% these days, too much at this stage ; mid week I did another drastic defoliation, removing all the lower leaves and any overlapping ones near the heads.
I feared a little asphyxiation, I added a small pump to my tank (9 bucks, 1-day delivery) but at the end of the week it recovered well, the pistils are getting longer and fewer leaves are appearing. I am now maintaining 60% humidity.
On the right side, things are going in a more "classical" way : at this stage, she stops producing leaves, and the buds swell day by day around 6 beautiful colas.
She will finish her run first. The goal for this first one in coco : more than 50 grams per plant ; she seems perfectly capable of it 👌
I'm keeping the nutrients program, the left one needs it ; I'll probably have to remove the right one from the GoGro system in 1-2 weeks for a manual flush of 7-10 days.
I'm reducing light per day now, from 5 to 7 hours night ; even though they are autos, this little bonus rest and lower temperature for 2h should be beneficial during the flowering period.
A good week: one has regained its health and is developing its buds, the other is well swollen and ready to harvest 👌
mid week, the sticky resin and the trichos of the LST girl seemed to say "prepare your shears..." 😏; I disconnected it from the GoGro system and rinsed it with 2 x 7,5L of clear water: in coconut it's very easy!
I defoliated it but more lightly than usual: I think it will need its leaves to last 7-10 days, the soil being almost inert now.
the topped girl has evolved well: since the extreme defoliation, when all her leaves were bending downwards,
she seems to be getting healthy again, her leaves are growing upwards and the buds are finally swelling.
The next 2 weeks will be interesting ✋
the girls celebrated their 3rd month this week ;
the one on the right has been drawing on her reserves for a big week, i only gave her water, and in small quantities.
defoliated her, removing all the fan leaves, i'm saving the sugar leaves for the wet trim in a few days.
nice buds, can't wait to weigh it !
the one on the left has definitely not had the same timing; it has stopped growing and now its buds are swelling day by day, but it should still have 2 or 3 weeks left before it is ready to be cut.
on the other hand, it should give me a better harvest than the other one.
crossing my fingers. 🙏
result for the first one: after 7 days of drying, a cleaning of the last leaves, and by removing the branches, I obtain 51g dry;
for a first session in cocot, I hoped 100g with my 2 plants; this one thus made its job. just barely. 😉
2 weeks to go before I know if the other one will do better 👌
It takes her a long time, but I think this girl will reward my patience...
the main colas are heavier than any of my previous sessions ; +1 for the coco
mid week, the trichos are almost all opaque, and I see the first brown trichos;
end of nutrients right now and flush in the next few days!
✋
17 weeks!
A long run for an auto, but this session has been exciting and instructive, and I hope productive!
I'm cutting tomorrow, followed by the wet trim;
I've been soaking it for a week, the buds have already settled a bit and the leaves are coming off easily.
next week, wet and dry results 👌
final results :
my 2nd plant gave me more than I expected; it's the first time I've exceeded 100g with a auto ! 👌
132g dry for this beautiful 90cm NL, which are added to the 51g of the first one, for a total of 183g under 2 TS600 (200w total) in 18 weeks; I am delighted with this session! 😊
Thanks to all of you for following my diary! 🙏
I invite you to follow one of my new runs, in particular my 2nd autopot test : https://growdiaries.com/diaries/155976-grow-journal-by-selkot
see you soon ! ✋
I started a northern lights plant Kinda its indica crystal extreme
or ice strain first plant I grown since around 2010, my countrys laws are shit but fuck them, does anyone have any tips or info on ice please it's from a friends great weed i wanted to grow myself and so far no pests grown amazingly but my friends grow was pollinated and the 1 female ice plant produced 2 seeds on whole plant so I got 1 and planted outta hope and curiosity now im left with ice incredible so far and showing for blue dream and sour diesel too somehow, I get 1 would pollinate the female to give me this blessing seed but any clue what this strain should or is called in this case lol no idea really, sorry for hijacking this clearly beautiful grow but as mine has northern lights in its lineage I think I can comment lol thanks all.
