I'm only going to start 2 seeds at the moment because that's all I have room for on my deck... I also want some experience with this strain before I get the other four seeds going! WHEEEEEEE! 06/25 - We're off to the races with these ladies! Both up quickly - 2 days! JUST uncovered them for these photos which is why they're yellow... now they are exposed to light, they'll green up quickly. Here's what they say about this strain: "Bruce Lemon Diesel is a potent and powerful autoflower strain. The high of this variety is both strong and long-lasting. The effect is a hybrid high with both mental as well as physical properties. The effect is powerful and euphoric, perfect for those with creative/artistic tendencies. The indica genetics ensure relaxing body effects which will be appreciated by medical users. A few vapes/smokes of these buds are a great way to dissolve stress and anxiety. The 50/50 blend of indica and sativa genetics delivers a seriously strong THC rich high. This high grows gradually in strength making this a real creeper. It’s definitely strong enough for the more experienced smokers that usually smoke a few joints per day. Not suitable for the lite toker!" https://supersativaseedclub.com/cannabis-seeds/auto-bruce-lemon-diesel.html#/33-seeds-3_autoflower_seeds

Taking a bit of a risk here giving them nutes this early in the game... but they seem to be tolerating them at half strength for the Grow Big and 1/4 strength for the Big Bloom. Won't give them nutes but once a week for a while. Strong little ladies so far! I'm fairly impressed! We'll see how they play out.....

#1 tolerated last week's nutes well but #2 decided to tell me she didn't like them very much... but that's ok, it's early days and I've just watered her this week... she'll get better and I have no worries. I backed off the nutes for #1 and all is well... I've also notched down the PH for both of them - I don't know why, just felt it was the right thing to do! LOL! They're happily spending their days in the sun and their nights under lights in the tent... No plans to change that routine until they're MUCH bigger.... Keeping a watchful eye out for insects and so far, so good on that score.

The ladies are looking really good and I'm really pleased with them! One is looking like she needs a bit more calcium so that will be added to HER feed this week, see if I can clear up that problem before it becomes a major issue for her. It's also time to start thinking about whether or not to do some LST - might do just a LITTLE this week... we'll see... I've also stopped bringing them into the tent every night (just because there have been a couple of nights I couldn't manage it) - going to try to be more "religious" about doing so as they seem to REALLY like it... 07/15 - Have decided to pull these two into the tent 24 hours/day for a couple of days at least. They're seeming a little weak outside and I think they'll fare better in the tent with constant temps, constant humidity, constant (but weak!) air flow.

These are by far the most delicate plants I've grown... quick to tell me they need water, wind seems to affect them MUCH more than my other grows ... all of which is fine with me, I just need to be AWARE they are more delicate than their grow-mates. Their growth has been really good this week - shooting up like rock stars (on delicate stems!)... These ladies are going to be my "high maintenance" ladies... but I'm not above giving them everything they demand! I'm hoping the ReCharge will strengthen their roots and that will in turn strengthen the rest of the plant... Going to be an interesting ride! 07/21 - They're now in pre-flower! YIPPEEEEEE!!!!!!

#1 has started her stretch in earnest and is looking good - in fact, they're BOTH looking really good. #2 is a bit bushier but that's probably because she really HASN'T started to stretch yet... I'm sure this week will see that change! These ladies continue to intrigue me and to be different from every other grow I've done. They're both outside 24/7 now with my other plants which are all hybrids. These two are extremely sensitive to the absence of light... the first time I noticed it I absolutely panicked... every single leaf on the plants was drooping and looking horribly HORRIBLY sad... I thought I was going to have to really do some "life-saving work" on them the next day... but when the sun came up, they perked back up and were strong all day long... only to droop massively again when the sun went down. Now, I kind of chuckle when I see them "getting ready for bedtime" ... Their stems and branches have really strengthened up - I had been worried about them being too spindly when they were young - but it was a worry I shouldn't have had. Both are pretty strong little ladies and I'm excited to know what ELSE they have to teach me. Sativas are definitely a different experience from hybrids... and I like broadening my horizons!

One lady is a real giant! 42" already with loads of airy space between the nodes and leaves - great air flow - and she's starting to stack up really nicely. The other is 7" shorter and has much larger leaves in more abundance... I've done a small amount of defoliation on her to increase air flow since the humidity outdoors is not going below about 60% and I don't want to encounter any issues. Another plant in my grow outside showed signs of thrips so ALL my plants have been treated for this (drenched 3 days in a row with Dr. Zymes Eliminator just at dusk)... so far, no signs of thrips or anything else has cropped up. I intend to do a weekly preventative spray of this as well as a weekly preventative spray of BT (on different days) as something started munching one leaf of these ladies about a week ago (BT took care of the problem and there's been no further damage). These ladies have proven my initial worry about their spindly appearance to be totally wrong - they're good and strong and GROWING LIKE WEEDS!!! LOL!

Tough week for my entire outdoor grow... exceedingly high humidity is the biggest concern and not much to do about it! I've got two fans going and even brought all plants inside to the a/c yesterday for the day as the humidity didn't get below 93%! I've had bud rot on one grow (but they're indica) and I don't want to see it rear its head on any of my OTHER plants. This strain has a better chance of avoiding bud rot as it's a sativa but I'm still not wanting to take many chances. #1 has my highest hopes as she's not as leafy as #2 so I did a little defoliation on #2 this week... other than that, the bug problem has been taken care of, I now just do preventative spraying of Dr. Zymes and BT once a week (on different days). I swear, this is my first and LAST outdoor grow! Next year, I'll take the summer off from growing!!

These two troopers survived the terrible heat streak we had here in fine fettle - and they're continuing to stretch and bulk up their buds. I'm really impressed with this strain so far - seems nothing, not bugs, not heat can keep them from doing their incredible thing... The aroma is starting to increase as well... definitely getting the citrusy lemon combined with the diesel... tart and strong together... it's going to be fascinating. Long time to go with these ladies but I'm happy just to let them go as long as they want or need. I think SSSC has a winner here!

I've rather ignored these ladies this week as a lot of other things were on my agenda - but they don't seem at all bothered by the lack of attention. In fact, they seem more than happy to just do their thing. We've had more hot days and fairly cool nights and nothing is fazing them - nothing! Their pistils are just starting to go brown but I don't foresee a rapid change here... they just keep bulking up and bulking up... whoever said that sativa buds were light and airy have never met these gals! They're out on my deck with 3 indicas and if I hadn't labeled the pots, I'd have a hard time figuring out which was which except for the smell! Kudos to the Super Sativa Seed Club!! Still a few weeks to go but I'm VERY pleased with their progress!

One lady is ready for her flush (and has started it), the other is still going strong and so I'm letting her run HER race... A small amount of bud rot has developed on the one I'm flushing so it's good she's ready... the lady I'm letting run has no sign of it thankfully but I'm keeping a SHARP eye out. It's been a difficult summer - and not getting much better... yesterday, it was 60F and 89% humidity - couldn't even pull the plants inside and turn the a/c on to dry things out! Oh well, Mother Nature and all of that... I'm still mightily impressed with this strain - the colas are huge and I'm loving the scent!

Week 10. Harvest

Happy Harvest Day!

This was a really wonderful strain to grow - all the buds were glorious, NO popcorn buds at all. Had it not been for the extraordinarily bad conditions (heat and intense humidity for a LONG time), this strain would have been top of my list for ease of growing, ease of trimming, ease of everything! I still have a few more seeds and will DEFINITELY grow this one again.

Attempted to harvest but nothing was to be gained at all - bud rot from nearby plants infected this lovely lady and made it so I could not grow this out to completion. This has proved to be a valuable learning experience for me! Once budrot sets in, there's really nothing you can do - even cutting it out and spraying the area with H202 doesn't much help as the spores literally go everywhere. As I trimmed what buds I THOUGHT would be salvageable, more often than not, I found the beginning of botrytis inside... so both plants were destroyed and put in trash bags. Next summer, I'm taking the season off and will concentrate on my raspberries, grapes, rhubarb, iris, daylilies, sweetpeas, peonies, catmint, bee balm, joe pye weed, blueberries, apple trees, hostas and all the other myriad plants I have on my 2 acres...

Looking good! I have a few girls growing outdoor 24/7 as well....they too, literally get ready to go to sleep for the night, they relax everything and then as soon as the sun rises..boom!...they're like "good morning!" My eldest is really bushy now but the beginning she was quite stretched, as are my youngsters, but sure enough they fatten up and grow good stocky stems. Are you in the temperate climate zone?
HigherTimes
HigherTimescommented3 years ago
@GrowingGrannie, well your right to be fair, the climates are all screwed up where we used to have 4 seasons which used to be quite predictable, now sometimes we can have 4 seasons in one day at some times of the year. I'm growing hybrids, mostly Indica, 20-30% sativa with ruderalis, suited slightly for cooler climate. Maine in theory is in a temperate zone yes.

GrowingGranniecommented3 years ago
@@HigherTimes, hey, thank you! Yeah, they really freaked me out when I first saw them do their nighttime droop.. Are you growing a sativa, too? I'll have to check out your diary! I don't know what a "temperate zone" is any more... I'm in the US, in Maine... we USED to be a fairly cold climate (in fact, I used to joke we had two seasons: winter and the 4th of July)... but things are heating up all over the place ...

@Cyrusdavirus, thank you so much! I've also learned that growing in POTS - unless they're HUGE - isn't a terribly good idea as the roots get too hot in a heat wave? Makes sense...

@GrowingGrannie, aww thank you! Actually I keep pruning the dead stuff off and this pouring rain has MAYBE flushed the medium? The bag is raised and drains fine. The plant looks like it's holding on. Only time will tell. I've been spending time with her though. I have a lot of work to do after this rain. Take care and if you don't mind stay in touch!

@masterofsmeagol, hey there fellow Mainiac! Yeah - they're autos... and I THINK they might be ready for harvest in about 3 weeks but we'll see... they're sativas so they might go even longer... all is now depending on the stupid weather! Good luck to you as well! Did you figure out what happened to your two plants? Your question just made me cry!!

@JamesBarre, the humidity has helped SOME of my plants and really hurt others... I now know which strains I would grow outdoors and which I will ONLY grow indoors in a tent! This one has been really happy outdoors. Encore, merci beaucoup!
