Thank you SSSC for allowing me to participate in this contest! I'm very excited, it's my first contest!
06/28 - Placed into paper towels with water and splash of Liquid Seaweed.
06/30 - Taproots emerged and placed into peat pellet rapid rooters to establish.
07/02 - Both plants have broken surface.
07/05 - Moved to 5 gallon pots. From here the ladies will be left to establish and given PH'd water for 1-2 weeks with some very light nutes like liquid seaweed.
I have 5 gallon pots being conditioned right now for them as well with perennial white dutch clover.
Some infos about this strain courtesy of SSSC's webpage:
- Pineapple Poison is a cross between a female Pineapple (Old-school Skunk selection) and a reverted Durban Poison male from Dutch Passion.
- Pineapple Poison is a Sativa dominant variety with a fast-flowering time of about 8 weeks on average. Some phenotypes might be even faster, these can be done in just 7 weeks.
- Pineapple Poison has a very special aroma. It’s kind of exotic and new, but old-school at the same time. Her mostly fruity, tropical notes are accompanied by the classic aniseed aroma of the Durban Poison.
Currently the they are doing well, short and not stretching which is good. I will be spraying them with FOOP mist once weekly. Next few weeks will be to establish and I will begin mainlining once they have around 5-6 nodes. Very excited to see how these come out, they are starting off with some excellent vigorous growth.
They will start receiving week 1 veg nutrients this weekend, up until then had all been about establishing a healthy foundation to work from.
Slight nute burns and then come cal/mag def showing but otherwise they are healthy. Moved them from the 2x4 under the BP2500 to the 4x4 with my new SE7000 light! Tallest PP was under the center of the BP2500 and has some light burning but things are good now. I should've ran the light around 300-400 ppfd but I mistakenly started ahead of myself at 600 for veg. It's fine though cause all the affected leaves will be cut off this week when they are mainlined.
Have had minor fungus gnat issues but not too bad, some neem oil spray is helping keep control.
Girls have been mainlined and are starting their training. They're showing signs of light burn and nutrient burn. I know the salt content is too high in the soil because droplets are forming on the leaves overnight and leaving salt spots. Soil is testing a little high on the pH (around 7) so I'm watering with a lower ph regimen and far less nutes to see if I can get the girls back on track. Luckily these are issues that can be fixed well before flower and shouldn't affect the final product too much. I'll probably let them veg for an extra week before throwing them in flower due to the mainline and burn stress.
Tbh I think the strain is just sensitive to nutes and light while it's young. My strawberry cough plant in the same tent with the same conditions and nutrients looks gorgeous, so I think the soil mix isn't great for this strain and my nutes were probably a week early.
Good week, plants are responding well to the mainline topping. Not sure how many rounds of topping I'll do but since she has an 8 week flower period I still have almost 2 months to veg before I NEED to flip.
Girls are recovering well from the early nute and light issues too. Beautifully shaped manifolds so far using garden wire.
CO2 Meter measuring 1000 PPM in the tent, can't wait to see how hard I can run these girls when flipping to flower with this new SE7000.
Clovers are getting a bit tall but it's okay for now. Tbh the thick cover of clovers has made pretty hard for gnat flies to take up residence and they've stopped appearing.
Girls received another round of topping this week. I can say girls now because they've both shown sex. They're at 8 tops, and I'll likely top 1 more time for 16 mains before flipping to flower. I have about a month left to veg so I'll probably flip to flower after veg week 8 so a safety net. So far I'm very happy with the manifolds on both plants.
Clovers are getting a little out of hand but they're flowering now which means they won't get much taller. Once more flower (peak nitrogen fixation in the roots) I will cut them down and use them as mulching.
I'm noticing some small white dots on the tops of the leaves that looks almost exactly like spider mite eggs, however there are no mites to be seen yet. I am keeping a very close eye on it.
Running the SE7000 around 75-80% power up until now.
This grow certainly doesn't look as healthy as my last grow and I think it has to do with soil composition. I used compost for the first time ever and did a 50/50 mix of Promix HP and compost + a few tablespoons of mycorrhizae. Next time I will be sticking to straight Promix HP most likely, especially since the compost I got has popped multiple mushrooms and I'm sure the probably was some insect eggs in there too. Lessons learned, I suppose!
Plants are doing well enough but they certainly are having some problems affecting their growth rate and size. I'm pretty sure I know the underlying causes though.
This grow is the first time I'm using RO Water, my 750W light, and I'm using a new soil mix that I just kinda threw together. I think the combination of the soil and water is raising my soil pH quite a bit more than I'm used to with previous grow. I also have not been watering enough I think. I went ahead and bought a 4 gallon compression sprayer to help with update of water without having to do multiple nutrient mixes.
I'm hoping to deal with some of the soil problems this week, I'll probably flush them. Light might be a bit too strong too.
Will probably flip to after week 8 of veg, should give me just enough time to flower. Clovers have all been chopped and used as mulching. The roots should release their bacteria into the soil now which should aid in the microbiology of the soil. Also bought a worm tower today to start my own composting.
Great week, as you can see the plants look much healthier. Raising how much water I was giving them has helped tremendously. Not only do they look healthier, they are growing very fast now due to the changes I made. After this next week, I'm going to flip to flower. Both plants have 16 tops. I'll let them stretch a few more days then lollipop them a few days before flower to give them time to recover before the real stretch begins. I will have to scrog soon, but I have LST clips on the plants currently to aid in widening them out.
I also raised the light a few inches. First time using a light this powerful so trying to dial it in has been a learning experience.
Much of the clover has regrown after a full cutting, it shows how resilient it is. I'm okay with it though as it really makes it difficult for pests to get to the soil.
I'm very happy with the resilience of this strain and it's ability to bounce back from poor conditions. They were rather unhappy for a few weeks which really stunted the growth, but I've done a lot of cutting on them so it's really been a cycle of stress and recovery up until now. I expect the rest of the grow to continue the successful course its on!!
Trimmed the girls up to their newest nodes and gave them 2 days to recover. Snapped a branch on PP1 unfortunately but I got it put back fast enough that it was perking back up to the light 24 hours later so we're a-ok!
These girls are really starting to stretch and I'm excited to see the preflower stretch. I flipped them into flower today. As you can tell they look much healthier than they previously did. Increasing the amount of watering helped a lot as well as taking it slow and trying to correct issues before it got too far. The manifolds are looking beautiful and I'm very excited to take official pictures once they're flowered. Clovers have recovered and will be cut back down later today to let the girls breath a bit as they start to flower.
Post is a day or two late but I've been busy, apologies!! This pics are from Monday though at the 7-day mark on Week 1 of flower.
The girls are looking beautiful, much healthier. Stretching out quite a bit and pre-flowering. All have shown sex and are female, no herms. Very happy about this strains ability to bounce back and also handle getting topped every few days like a champ. I'm super excited to see how they flower!
I have Scrog netted them today which you can't see in the pics but so far the canopy is looking great.,
Good week, I forgot to water once and they got a bit droopy but everything is good. Updating 2 weeks in a row at once right now cause I didn't have time in the week to do it before.
They are really starting to fill out now and bud nicely. I'm very excited to see how these flowers come out. They are doing well and are healthy. Some senescence but that is to be expected once we start getting into flower. They've been scrogged to help spread out the tops in a good distribution for light.
So far so good. They are yellowing a bit more than I would like but I'm feeding nutes on schedule so hopefully it'll be okay. PP1 so far is having much more early trichrome production than PP2 which is interesting.
Plants are going well. They were yellowing a bit more than I would like since this was still Week 5, so I boosted the Nitrogen in their feed this weed using Micro & Gro by General Hydroponics.
Unfortunately, PP1 has started throwing bananas out quite a bit. She's very frosty compared to her sister, but there will be a number of seeds in the bud. I've picked off as many bananas as I could get to, so it hopefully won't be too bad. I should have noticed earlier because some of the pistils were browning quite early which is typically a sign of fertilization.
Yellowing has been stopped for the most part with the addition of extra Nitrogen to keep the plants from senescing too far before harvest.
Very excited to smoke it after all is said and done, these plants are slated to come on vacation with me to the mountains in 2 weeks so my and my friends can all get high while on vacation.
Good week. More bananas off PP1 but I'm picking them off as I see them. PP1 is ready to harvest soon, PP2 may need an additional week as it does look a bit behind, but we'll see.
Finishing up soon. Going into week 8 of flower now, PP1 will be ready at end of week, nice and ripe. PP2 may need an additional week but I'll see how she fills out this week. Trichs are nice and cloudy, not much amber yet.
Uploading this quite late unfortunately, a bunch of life stuff has happened and I haven't had the time to update. Both got cute down at the same time, although they maybe could've used a few more days
Very nice plant to grow, great structure and stretchy. Responded very well to mainlining and didn't run into any issues. Overall easy trim with not too much larf
