OK here we go.. so I've been growing close to 4 years now, I've always used synthetic nutrients. I tried peat, I tried coco and lately I've been growing in my home made rdwc system. Now that it's outdoor season I feel like it's time to adventure outside of my comfort zone and try my hand at an all organic grow. I'd like to say I planned this out, I'd like to say I came in well equipped for said adventure but I'm honest or was a last minute decision followed by a full amazon shopping cart full of gaia green products. That being said I was a little late to get my seeds dropped, even later to start cooking my soil. Don't pay attention to the nutrients listed above, I'll share my recipe next week open for criticism of course... i am a organoob afyerall. Infact, my living soil still has a good 2 weeks of cooking left. Despite a nice layer of fungal feathering the top I've got some uninvited friends. Fungus gnats seem to be enjoying my living soil, I'll be making a mosquito bit tea to get rid of the little savages before it becomes a problem but more on that next week. So in the meantime I've got these little sprouts in some promix organic herb and veg. Well this week it looks like they're starting to get hungry, the advertised "don't feed for 3 months" on the bag of promix was greatly exaggerated. That's fine.. I'm excited to try my first batch of aerated compost tea. I've attached the recipe I used (tweaked somewhat) in the pictures for your viewing pleasure. Please join me on this slightly uncomfortable journey into the unfamiliar world of organics, I'd love to hear your feedback! Happy growing

So I forgot to add Dolomite lime toy 3 gallon pots last week, let the ph get.out of whack and stunted the gals. Top dressed added in the Dolomite lime and they're growing strong again. Might have overdone it on the top dress, the Bubbas gift is giving me burned tips but I'm not too worried about it. Picked up the mosquito dunks and let them sit in a bucket with aeration for 24hrs. Watered into my super soil and voila, no more fungus gnats. First minor LST session in, let them sit for 5 days, only RO water with a tbsp of black strap molasses. Today I got them into their blue bins, the Blueberry slipped out of my hands during transplant so she's looking a little droopy but overall we're in good shape for next week. Happy growing

The ladies are thriving in the organic super soil. Just watering in RO at 2g a week and they do the rest. I thought hydroponics was pretty lazy gardening but this is next level I love it. First pistils are popping, fan leaves are massive and a lovely shade of green. Smell is already coming through, just beautiful. Got a good LST this morning, swatted a few aphids off but nothing to worry about, if they get worse I'll hit them with some DE. happy growing

Everything has been going perfect. I water in 2-3 gallons every Sunday of RO water, I'm not even checking ph anymore. The LST is paying off these ladies will be bushes by next week. Should be transitioning into early flower after that. Soon smooth

Growing strong, we can see they all flowered at different time from white widow that's in mid week 3 of flower to Bubba gift that's just started week 2. Still just adding RO water, did one compost tea last week that seemed to supercharge the bud growth. Cleaned up the base of the plant this morning. Girls are drinking heavy, po ably 1.5 gallons a day which has made lugging buckets from the basement my daily workout. Full steam ahead and on to next week

Things are in full swing now. Different stages of life still, the bubbas gift is lagging behind a couple weeks or so it looks. Going to be applying my 3rd and final tea to the mix tomorrow and then water to the finish line. Added a teaspoon of Dolomite lime to help the ph throughout the rest of the grow so we should be sailing to harvest. Happy growing

With the season coming to a close things are just finishing things up. We will likely pluck the white widow, black sugar and Blueberry next weekend (candian thanksgiving) the wife will be real happy about that. The Bubba however looks like she needs a bit more time. See ya next week with some harvest pics

Congrats on trying outdoor organic growing. This is my fourth year growing too and we likely both started after legalization. One thing you might also try next year is adding Humalite (Black Earth Products, only mined in Alberta) which is nearly coal but about 65% humic acid. Like Leonardite if you’ve heard of that one as a HA source but formed in a freshwater geologic setting. Seemed to help, as does malted barley as a top dressing as flowering starts.
