Tent A was flipped to flower last night. Lights go off in the day and on at night so today was it's first night on 12/12. We pulled all the plants out, then defoliated and lollipopped them, lowered the exhaust fan to allow the lights to raise higher after the stretch is over, then set up two layers of trellis net for the girls, put the plants back in, supercropped and weaved them in the net, then set the lights, fans, and dehumidifier accordingly. 5 Blue Hawaiian Sativa from joftheislands and 10 Mando from Solfire Garden. This is gonna be a forest for sure the tallest plants were 36 inches pre-flip😂(from the floor including the pot). After the trellis netting was installed and plants were set and weaved total height dropped to 30" from floor to plant top.
Day 8 of flower. The plants have started to stretch and have bounced back vigorously from the super cropping and weaving through the net. The Canopy is even except for 2 plants on the very left (2 Blue Hawaiian Sativa), but it may even out after the stretch is done. For now I'm happy with it. Also the cover crop we planted at flip has grown to about an inch tall and is looking great. My only gripes are 1)I wish they had been topped 1 or 2 more times so if we lollipopped them we wouldn't lose so much potential yield and 2)That the cover crop be much thicker for next time.
Note: The cover crop was an experiment and for our first time maybe less is more so we can manage it easier.
This week went good. They are on day 16 as of this post, pics were taken on day 15. They filled out the net about 85%, some plants branched out more then other or were topped more so that is one thing my partner could work on. Cover crop didn't do too well for him as he let the medium dry out a little too much these last few days, and the middle section has yellowed up a bit due to being a little more hungry then the outside (mainly in the Mando). We will see how they finish the stretch and then we get to stacking and packing weight!
Day 24. The middle center has continued to yellow due to (I think) a lack of or not enough cal-mag. The plants have stopped stretching and have filled the canopy pretty nice, but not optimally. It's pretty much cruise control from here as they stack and begin to form their buds.
Day 29 and the buds are starting to connect and stack really well. Mando is starting to show some purpling in the leaves. Smell is the tent is getting strong. You can put your nose close to a bud and smell it. I was watering the other day and noticed how good they smell just being near them and trying to reach the pots near the back of the tent got my nose next to a BHS bud. Smells kinda like blueberry banana oatmeal goodness.
Day 37 of flower. The Blue Hawaiian is really starting to bulk up and fill out the colas well. It's hard to believe I might take it 70 days when it's this filled out already, but it's Sativa dominant genetics are to blame. Still going smooth they are all bulking and stacking a lot every day now. Starting to see some color creeping in as well.
Day 44. Everything is bulking up very nice. Some of the yellow leaves have started to die and fall off, but we are only a couple weeks from chop anyways so it's not a big concern. At this point I am just happy they didn't do this any sooner and are still finishing nicely. BHS looks very well for this early in flower it's sometimes hard to believe it's Sativa Dom. Gonna be switching to Gaia Green nutes for future runs and go 100% Organic so we can spend less time chasing deficiencies and more time training and keeping the plants up to par.
Harvested at day 59. They had been noticeably stunted and a few more days wasn't going to make much of a difference. Most of them looked pretty decent all things considered and had a strong smell. The yield was the thing that suffered the most from the dry outs. I will be watching both tents from now on and plan to Never let this happen again! I will post a harvest update once they all dry and I trim a few buds of each.
