I aim to grow four plants so started four seeds. I used my normal method of 2 paper towels inside a tupperware box. This gets places on top of my tivo box for warmth. These seeds seem really slow to hatch. After about three days I only had two hatched so put another seed in. Next day when I checked I had two more hatched. After about a week I finally had 4 sprouted seeds in the ground. I decided I'd try going straight into the final pot rather than my usual method of repotting after a couple weeks.

I think I mainly just used water this week. I've not bothered to PH my water recently as I don't think it makes that much difference. Oscillating fan was turned on this week to make sure we are getting strong stems and nice airflow. This caused one of the ones closest to the fan to develop a lean/bend but two nights zip tied to a lollypop stick straightened that right out. They are starting to look like lovely young ladies

We've made it to week 3! This is the point when I feel they actually need looking at most days rather than just occasionally. Started mixing in some more nutrients at slightly lower than recommend. Still not bothering with EC/PH. I'm also quite lax with my measuring. I mix up about 20L at a time and my nutrients are probably accurate to maybe 10% of what they are supposed to be. I do sometimes throw a bit more water in the tank though without adding nuts so the strength will drop a little as the tank empties. I turned the Phlizon PL-2000 up a little bit. It's now on about 30% power. I've no science for this change. I just gradually increase the percentage until we hit the full 100%. Fun fact: this is in reused coco. You might notice in the picture there is an little plant growing in the pot at the back. I think this was a lettuce that had found its way into this coco. It has been removed.

Doing well. Good growth. Topped all but one this week. They all seem to have recovered from this without a second though. Didn't even seem to stunt growth for a day or two. But wait! Aren't these autos? Good spot dear reader. I'm firmly in the camp that you should top autos. When I've done side-by-side tests topped plants have always out produced regular. It's basically free weed for a tiny cut.

Topped the slow plant this week. That's all of them done now. They are starting to bush out a lot. Light was turned up to full power this week, partly because the temp has dropped a lot this week so the extra heat is welcome. I've also put my fans onto a timer to save a little money on electricity costs. Extractor fan will turn off for roughly 5 hours of the "night", the oscillating fan is on a similar schedule. Almost at the stage when they need daily watering. I've been enjoying only checking on them every other day at most. Eagle eyed viewers might have noticed a 5th plant in the tent this week. I sometimes treat my house plants to a few days in the grow tent. Like a plant holiday when they are looking a bit weak.
