1. These seeds went through the same ordeal as my Royal Creamatic seeds. Customs confiscated the seeds, but Seedsman came to rescue. They sent me out new seeds in an ultra stealth coaster. Thanks again Seedsman.
2. I chose this strain because it had Maui Haze lineage.
3. I am going to continue with Oregon's Finest/Nectar of the Gods line. It worked really well on my last grow, so I'm going to use up the rest of my supply. I'm not sure if it has a shelf life, but I don't need 3 different brands of grow nutrients open, and lying around.
4. Finally, this is going to be a hands off grow. I will defoliate when necessary, but I am not going to top the plant, or use any LST.
1. She was transplanted into a 3g smart pot 3 days ago then moved into the grow tent.
2. On her first watering I used EZ Tea Veg. It's supposed to help with root development, among other things.
3. I plan on watering about 2l every 3-4 days. My feeding schedule will be: EZ Tea...Filtered Water...Nutes...Filtered Water.
4. I will continue to use Nectar of the Gods for this grow. I was happy with its performance on my last grow.
5. Once she has recovered from transplanting, I will start nutrient regimen. Veg will be approximately 5 weks total.
1. There has been vigorous growth since I transplanted Gooey last week. She is currently developing her 4th node. I'll flip her in a few weeks. I'd like to give the secondary branches time to develop first.
2.. Currently she is taking water nutrients every 3-4 days. I expect that to increase as she matures. I am using the following schedule: Watering #1. 2l Filtered Water+ 1 tsp. EZ Tea.
Watering #2. 2l Filtered Water+ 1/2 strength Early Veg Feeding Schedule Nutrients+1/4 Tspn. Bloom Khaos as Foliar Feed. Watering #3. 2l Filtered Water.
1. Great growth this week! She is growing at a rate of about 1 set of leaves per day.
2. Secondary growth is really strong. Not only is there a lot of foliage, but the branches are developing nicely.
3. I've been defoliating the lowest fan leaves every few days. The width of the fan leaves really shade the developing secondary branches.
4. I have not included any data on ppm, or pH because I won't feed until this weekend. I will update at that time. I don't think I will find anything out of the ordinary.
This will be the third plant I've used these nutrients on, so there has been a great deal of measurements.
Also, she looks very green and healthy.
5. I have gone back to my prior watering schedule of every 2 days. She is getting pretty thirsty.
6. I will be using the Late Vegetative Schedule for the next 2 weeks prior to flipping.
1. I did a major defoliation this week. You can see the before and after pictures. She took a few days to recover, but the growth has been phenomenal!😁
2. This would be a good strain to top and spread out into a SCROG net. I think she will already produce some good bud sites even though I've not done any training or topping.
3. Watering/Feeding schedule remains the same. I water every 2nd day. Watering 1=2l Filtered Water + .25 Tspn EZ Tea Veg. Watering 2=2l Filtered Water = Late Veg Schedule Nutes + Foliar Feeding of Khaos Bloom. Watering 3=2l Filtered Water.
4. I should flip her to flowering mode next week. It will depend on the secondary growth.
1. This will be the last week of veg for AFGooey. She is showing beautiful secondary branching. I like how this structure is going to work for flowering.
2. I've been removing the giant fan leaves as soon as the next set has developed. That is about every other day. If I don't those fat leaves shade everything!😎 I've also been trying to clear out the under canopy to prepare her for flowering.
3. There are quite a few viable bud sites. I might have to trim the growing tops off of some the lower portions of the branches. But since I've defoliated, I think I can get away with leaving them for now.
1. Gooey was flipped to flowering on Saturday night. She was watered on Thursday . Lights out from Saturday night to Monday Morning (30hrs.). She will be on a 12/12 light schedule until harvest.
2. There has been no outward appearance of preflowering. However, the budsites that are emerging are now a brighter green than normal.
3. Watering/Feeding schedule has not changed. I have now moved on to NOTG Early Flowering Schedule. I notice while taking measurements that my pH was really high. At first I thought it was just the added calcium and bone meal used in this feeding schedule. I decided to check the pH using distilled water and found out my meter was way off! I re calibrated my gizmo, then remeasured when I fed my other plant. The new pH was an acceptable 6.78.
4. I will continue to use Bloom Khaos as a foliar feed until true buds start to form. Then I will switch to adding it to my other nutrients and root feed.
1. Not a lot to update this week. Gooey is making her transition. She has gone through a bit of a stretch, but not too bad so far.
2. I stopped using EZ Tea as it was a veg nutrient. I probably could've used it for a few more weeks, but I've decided to go in a different direction for flowering.
3. I have a new watering/feeding schedule. I will still be watering every 3rd day with 1l of filtered water, but instead of EZ Tea, I will be feeding NOTG a second time. D1-Filtered Water +Early Flowering Nutrients, D4-Filtered Water, D8-Filtered Water+Early Flowering Nutrients. I will monitor Gooey's health and appearance for any signs of nutrient burn. I just feel that these nutrients are pretty gentle, and I should be able to push Gooey a little harder.
4. I will continue to foliar feed Bloom Khaos until the first real buds appear. Then I will use it when I normally feed and water as a soil additive. I will switch to NOTG Mid-Flowering Schedule when flowers start to develop. I'm thinking sometime next week.
1. Flowers emerged about 5 days ago. It took almost 2 weeks for Gooey to make the transition. Stretch has been fairly normal.
2. I am continuing my new watering/feeding schedule. I water every 3rd day. I alternate filtered water with the Mid Flowering Nutes Schedule.
3. I have switched Bloom Khaos to a root feed. I add it to my filtered water when I add my other nutes.
4. There has been an increase in some of the nutrients now that i am on Mid Flowering. Basically I'm adding more Calcium and Bone Meal.
1. She has continued to stretch. She grew 4 inches over the last week. She should be about done though. I've had to put my other plant on a box to keep the canopy even!
2. I'm very happy with the development of the secondary bud sites. Secondary branching during veg stage really helped. She is a bit leggy, but that is mostly due to defoliation throughout the grow. The strain description puts inter-nodal space at 5cm, and Gooey is easily within that range.
3. The new feeding/watering schedule seems to be working out nicely. I water every 3rd day, and I alternate between .5 gln (2000ml) filtered water and .5 gln (2000ml) filtered water + Mid Flowering Nutes Schedule.
1. Gooey is still stretching! She grew 3 inches this last week! Her development is behind her companion in the grow tent. Strain info said roughly 8 weeks for flowering, so I'm right in the middle.
2. I switched nutrients to Late Flowering Schedule. Basically, I'm reducing the amount of Nitrogen I'm feeding Gooey. That is understandable considering the current flower development.
3. Curiously, the leaves are growing in long and thin as opposed to zeppelin-fat. That must be the Sativa in the strain. That would explain the considerable stretch during flowering.
1. Gooey still won't quit growing! She grew about an inch over the week. I'm going to say it was mostly bud!!!😉 Gooey is definitely showing her Sativa side. Apparently there is some Haze in this strain's lineage.
2. Buds are forming nicely, but slowly. Giant pistils stick out from all of the flowers. Trichomes are just starting to form. I should see a lot more in the next few weeks.
3. I am continuing with my watering/feeding schedule. Currently it is water/feed every 3rd day, using a feed-water-feed schedule. I am using the Late Flowering Schedule from NOTG.
4. Instead of using molasses during late flowering and flushing, I am going to use a NOTG's product. I will be adding Aphrodite's Extraction to my feedings.
5. Additionally, I will be adding Herculaean Harvest and Aphrodite's Extraction to my filtered water feeding. These two nutrients will also be my flushing nutrients.
1. Gooey has finally started to kick it into high gear. I've seen a lot of bud development in the past week. She is still weeks away from harvest, but at least she has picked up the pace.
2. I'm still feeding according to the Late Flowering Schedule. I've added Aphrodite's Extraction as well to aid in bud development and nourish the microbials in the soil.
3. I've also added a lighter feeding to water days. Instead of plain filtered water, I'm feeding with Bloom Khaos, Herculean Harvest and Aphrodite's Extraction. They aren't huge feedings, but my goal is to increase bud development, and profile.
1. Buds are stacking and filling out nicely. I still see several more weeks, so I'm very excited. She took a long time to get started, but every week I'm liking her progress.
2. I'm still using the Sample Kit Late Flowering Schedule from NFTG. I've added Aphrodite's to aide in nutrient uptake and bud formation. I'm also adding Hades Down to adjust my pH. I'm hovering around 7 and this nutrient line likes the pH around 6.4ish.
3. Since this plant produced a lot of secondary branching, I have multiple budstalks that rival the main cola in size.
4. I'm a little worried about the long, thin stalks. They are quite strong though. Hopefully I will have to support the budstalks by the end of this grow!😉
1. There are a few amber trichomes on the uppermost buds. Gooey will probably go down soon.
2. She is drinking a lot less water. I normally water every 3rd day, but she is barely taking in enough water every 4th day. Part of this is also due to lower nighttime temps we've been having. Growing in the desert climate is tricky. During the day it can get into the 50-60s, but at night it will drop into the teens.
3. I've switched over to NFTG flushing nutes schedule. Basically its Herculean Harvest and Aphrodite's Extraction. I will probably do a fresh water flush early next week then harvest late next week.
1. Gooey is cruising right along. Buds are fattening up, and they are covering up the main stalk. It looks nice.
2. Trichomes are looking mostly milky, but I still see some clear ones on all of the major buds. I still think she has a few more weeks.
3. Strain info has her finished after 60 days, which is next week. We shall see. The lower overall temperatures are slowing things down.
2. I'm still using the Late Flowering Schedule for NFTG. I've added Aphrodite's to the mix as a sweetener, and to help use of any excess nutrients.
3. Nighttime temps are getting lower. She is taking in less water. That's another sign that she is getting closer to harvest I guess. However, it means that instead of watering every 3rd day, I'm now watering every 4-5th day.
Luckily, my humidity is a bit lower, so I don't have to worry about any problems.😰
1. Gooey is getting close. I gave once last watering with flushing nutrients on Monday.
2. I will water her with filtered water only on on Saturday, then probably flush some time next week.
3. She only requires water every 4-5 days. I'm playing it by ear at this point.
4. Buds are filling out nicely. I've had to support some of the stalks because they are top heavy.
5. Trichomes are maturing as well. She is starting to get really frosty. That's a newer development. She did not show dense trichomes coverage early in flower.
Easy, easy plant to grow. She had strong secondary branching, recovered quickly from defoliating, and ate as much as I could feed her. The next time I grow this strain, I will definitely top and encourage the secondary nodes to the top of the canopy. She could've easily taken a more aggressive feeding schedule. There was considerable stretch when she was flipped, and flowering took a long time, similar to a Sativa.
My harvest technique started with a final flush. I allowed the plant to dry out for several days then I put her in my drying box for 3 days. The average temp in the drying box was 64-69 degrees. The humidity was a much wider range; 34-51. Once she was cut down, I wet trimmed then hung her by the stalks to dry for 7 days.
Smoke is really nice and heady so far. I took some popcorn nuggets and dried them last week. The aroma and taste is pretty pungent. It has a bit of a pine sol, diesel-like flavor. It's a bit different than the aromas I'm used to when harvesting. This strain was perfect to pair with some dark chocolate coconut cookies. Binge watching Netflix is bad though. This herb makes you want to get up and do stuff. Sitting in front of the TV seems like a waste.
This grow was a bit of an experiment. I wanted to allow the plant to grow naturally without any topping or training. Overall, I was very successful, but i think my yield could've been a lot better.
if I had at least topped and trained the canopy just a little bit, I would've definitely increased my yield.
@Bluesbreeder, I will account for the other variables during this grow to make sure that my issue is with the lights. However, this is a hobby for me, and we should always buy the best toys for our hobbies.
@Quexos,it looks like it's my company but it is not i have nothing to gain by recommending these lights . but i really am amazed by the results i'm getting and ok maybe i'm doing something good and the budswelling helps but i really think my lights are the keyfactor to the great harvests i'm having lately.
@Tonino, I really am! I've been very patient waiting for these trichomes to change mature.
Should I feel guilty that I'm already planning my next grow?
@Twisted_Forest, The problem as newer growers is we have all sorts of nutrient choices, but it takes a few grows to learn the nutrient lines. I've invested a few plants on this line of nutes. Now its a choice. Buy the nutes that are running out and keep using the line, or start the learning curve all over again with another line.
@Quexos, nice! They are really strong. I will go take a look at your bubba. I have the same problem, since I am kind of a newgrower, I don’t want to give them too much nutriment. I think it’s hard to give the perfect amount of nutriment, every plant take it differently.
@bobo420, Thanks! I'm really impressed with the genetics of both strains I'm growing so far. They are growing like crazy for only 3 weeks old. If the secondary growth picks up enough, I might flip to flower a week early. I was thinking 6 weeks for veg.
Can appreciate the hope for a higher yield dude but any time you pull 1+ oz. it’s still a smoke and a success👍. Enjoy it dude and looking forward to the next one😎😉👊
@TheBudWhisperer, Yeah, the smoke is great! After trimming and jarring my harvest yesterday, I twisted up a phatty and enjoyed the fruits of my labors.
My new journals are up and running. I transplant and feed them for the first time tomorrow. They are already starting their 2nd full node!
@Tonino, She has to be done stretching. The slight increase in height is mostly flower formation. I have another foot or so I can raise the lights, so I'm not that worried. I didn't expect this plant to show so much Sativa genetics.
Thanks for following along!
@Tonino, Thanks. I really like how she has shaped up over the last few weeks. There are about 21 viable budsites right now. I'm looking forward to flowering.
@Tonino, Thank you, thank you! I'm harvesting my other plant today. I'll have a harvest report later this week I guess. This girl still has a few more weeks.
@Tonino, I view her more as lightly frosted at this point. I do like the directions the bud formation is going though. I was a little worried for awhile. I think she spent a lot of early energy stretching.
Thanks for stopping by every week and checking out my grow!😁
@Tonino, I can't believe that she is still stretching. I looked up some of the genetics to this strain and there is a lot of sativa. Perhaps that's the reason. But, yeah, I really like how she is budding out.
@Tonino, Thanks again for your kind words. She has 2 branches that are almost as tall as the main cola. I can't even count the number of viable bud sites! (well I could...) I really think she is going to be a very nice yielder.
I'm really glad I have 2 more seeds.
@TreeTent310, Thanks! Wait until you see this week's journal entry. I posted last Thursday, then did a major defoliation on Friday. You should see her now!
@Tonino, Thanks. I took her out of the grow tent this week. I'm having trouble with focus on my camera due to the lights. Luckily they are small plants.
