I sow the seeds directly into the substrate, but create a pocket of soil around the seed to reduce the chances of shock, and to supply a little extra nutes at the earliest stage

Both seeds germinated, so pretty happy with that and they should finish about the same time. The first seemed to be bolting upwards so I moved the light closer to it and it's looking better now. The second plant was a helmet head and I left it a couple of days to see if it would push the seed off itself but no luck. So I removed the seed yesterday (day before picture taken) and it seems to have uncurled and be on track now! Still no nutes ofc, just water - and only spraying the surface around it. Excited every day to have a look and see what's happenin' hehe

Things looking good! Babies got their first feed with nutes and LST begun. I think I'm going to stick with this training method and not top them, but it depends on how they go in the next week (if they seem strong I'll top them!) Had a couple of very hot days (above 30c) but they seem ok.

I topped the stronger of the two plants, inched the light closer, and will get reflective surfaces around them in the next week, maybe add another little light. They're looking a little dark to me and the veins a little white, so their second watering was plain water and I'll give them nutes again next time!

A lot can happen in a week eh. Built these friends a little foil shelter, best I can do for now haha! I accidentally broke a stem when bending it, taped it for a day, and it seems to be recovering. But you can see on one of the photos that there is one fan leaf dying that hasn't recovered. These plants amaze me though! I've also got some blurple light on the way, to give it a boost in flower 😌

They make me prouder every day haha! The canopy on #1 is spreading nicely and even #2 is picking up if I look at the daily photos... They are not quite on the same feeding schedule as #2 has been slower getting to flower and isn't as thirsty. I think they'll both turn out pretty nicely though! I've intentionally left #2 mostly alone but for some LST in the form of bending and leaf tucking only. Until today! I defoliated her a bit as she was way too bushy and a tuck wasn't doing the job any more ha. The smell from #1 is really exciting, a little sweet and earthy, kind of GSC vibes but a little fruitier. Excited to see what comes of that 😎 loving this first grow

My plant has been looking thirsty but I know it isn't a water problem. Had another look today and saw some roots were poking through the substrate as I suppose every time I water I'm displacing it! I added some more Coco today, but was wondering if it could be anything else?

Hi there They definitely look like she need watering, using coco your going to need to water more frequently then soil, in the picture it looks quite dry, Regarding a few small roots been exposed I can’t see that being the issue that happens to most people as long as it’s not a crazy amount .. Give her a good water/feed until it’s dripping out the bottom of the pot then feel the weight of the pot .. Also as their autos try not to defoliate too much unless it’s really needed/covering buds etc you don’t want to slow them down as they’re short life cycle. Best of luck 🌱

Lots to say this week! #1 had some roots exposed on the top soil, so we added some extra coco and it bounced right back. It was nice to see some of the roots in a way because now I can be sure they are reaching to the edges of the pot, and look suuuuper healthy! Very white, very fluffy, far-reaching 😎 let's hope that's the last I see of them until harvest though haha. I had some concerns after that a few pistils were showing browns, and thought it could be related. No new brown hairs coming out though, and what was there was minimal... Feeding wise, both plants taking a lot more water now. Have been on a FWF schedule to avoid burns and build-up in the coco. Some of my diary entries do not have the right info re: pot size and watering etc, which has led to some question answer-ers being confused and giving bad advice lol. For the most part though, great advice and I am thankful for your input 😌🙏 #1 had a breakage due to my clumsiness a few weeks ago, and you can see from the photos this week how well cannabis repairs itself!! It was 90% broken off entirely and it looks like it was just a scratch from how it's recovered. Truly amazing 💪 Otherwise I am doing daily leaf-tucking and bending, and have defoliated both plants a little (more so on #2 because of how bushy it is- I don't want any humidity problems as it goes into flower). The genetics of these two autos is veeery different, but they both come from MSNL's auto mix. Based on the terps on #1 I'd say it's GSC, smells just like it and is growing as it too :) which I am VERY happy about. Not sure about #2 yet! But I imagine some dense buds based on how it is growing... Any comments and tips encouraged! Thanks for supporting my first grow :))) I'm pretty sure I will be investing in loads more equipment for my next grow haha. Would love a tent and better ventilation system... I wonder how the smell is going to be from the closet in a few weeks, because already it is sifting nicely through the house 😂

Hurricane Fiona came and I have no power haha!! Not sure how it will effect these autos, but you'll surely see in this diary in the weeks to come. Maybe some time in the dark did them some good, idk :P Added a second light panel almost doubling the light for flowering. That is, when I have power back...

Can't see any issues arising from having had no lights for a couple of days after hurricane Fiona... There are maybe two bud sites with some orange-brown pistils (which I think are early to the show) and are probably to do with either light burn by the walls or wind burn tbh. Both things now adjusted... One plant (#2) is looking hungryish, with lime-ish leaves at the beginning of the week. Had been fed the same as #1 except one time having had plain water instead of feed, but their responses have been super different. #1 if anything has early signs of burn (very tip of leaves brown/lighter). #2 hungry. Have adjusted their feeds based on individual needs. In other news, getting closer to ID'ing #2. All calyxes on the plant are blue-purple, which is super exciting. We're looking at an indica Dom purple variety, could be blue dream or purple lemonade or even hulkberry... May even be GDP! All of these are available from MSNL. I'm sure her characteristics will continue to show themselves and we can ID together. If any one has any ideas, send them my way! In case the diary alters my info again- 5g pots Distance from light 14inches (around 12 for the very tallest bud) Plants are about the same in height, 14 inches. Watering as needed, approx 1.5L daily. I have a lil dehumidifier running all the time, RH is between 55-65, and now a little less that i am leaving open the closet every day for a bit. No reading on pH which I know is risky for Coco, but I am a risk taker :P tap water here is around 6.8. Thank you for supporting and checking my grow out! Comments welcome 🙏

So happy to see that mystery purple starting to produce trichs. It's been a lot slower than #1... I swapped their places in the closet so the purp can be directly under the viparspectra for a few days. I have finally ordered a ph meter hehe, as I think any problems I'm seeing are def pH related at this point. It's also hard to say whether the colouration on #1 is genetic or not. Some of the fan leaves on #1 are discolouring, but it is both yellowing and purpling... I know this can be indicative of a few things, so I have been trying to filter out what could be the issues with small changes - such as changing feed, moving the light away (because two panels in this tiny closet might actually be too much?) I probably won't know for sure until my pH meter comes, and I've seen these babies at the end of bloom. I am still dealing with gnats but have some sticky traps setup that are helping out. I wonder if the leaf damage is related to these suckers, literally sucking the goodness out of the leaves - I see them doing it! In terms of IDing these plants, I'm now thinking the GSC-like plant (the big one, the star of this diary) is not GSC but definitely has some of that in her. Could be Gelato or Cherry Pie... Thinking #2 is either Purple Lemonade or Hulkberry now based on her progression compared to other diaries I've seen, her calyx colours and how the purple is showing right away rather than at the end of flower. Either way, really enjoying this grow and the differences between these plants. Both are colourful but one is clearly more sativa leaning than the other. Will be a great pair of smokes I hope! Already thinking about my next grow-- one large photo or two more autos? I have some THC bomb seeds (fem), and a few more mystery autos. Thanks for checking out my diary!

Removed a few small buds from around, am drying those to use as shake/tobacco basically haha... Hoping it will make a difference for the buds still on the plants! Mosquito dunks seem to have quelled the gnat population! Yey! A product I recommend as it's safe to use even late in flowering :) I'm seeing a burst of bud growth on the purp friend, I think she's increasingly happy with the current setup and schedule. #1 was definitely slowed by the pH fluctuations and all the other little mistakes I've made along the way... Already excited for the next grow so I can put what I've learnt to practice and just get better and better! There's not another hobby quite like this one eh! Seeing some N toxicity on both ladies, so gonna flush them both today and then follow with a light feed. I got some worm castings so might top dress towards the end of flush. Can't hurt! Got a pH meter that was broken (electrode smashed on delivery) so that was annoying. Now using these pH strips haha which are very hard to read but at least better than nothing. Next grow will probably try soil and organic amendments as the pH situation is considerably more forgiving... Would love to know how some people get sponsored! I am short on so much beneficial equipment, got the time and passion to learn, but not the resources!

What a week, growmies... I found "eyes" on my #1 plant, which I knew meant big stress! It either means empty seed pouches, or pistil-less calyxes. Bad news either way, eh. On further inspection I found rot in one bud. I removed it and separated the plants, cleaned the closet a little to limit the risk to the other(s). Seemed to be ok, until I found a second spot of botrytis in another cola and made the decision to harvest early all the big buds. I noticed when chopping that the botrytis was chilling in a few of the stems of the yet unaffected buds. I put drops of rubbing alcohol directly into those stems while they were hanging to dry to kill off the remaining bud rot, or try to, for the dry. The remainder of the plant is under lack lustre lighting on my dining room table haha, hoping I can properly finish these little ones! The purp had a lot of defoliation after the news broke. Hoping this will help keep this one healthy, although it's def suffering from some N toxicity. It has been flushed twice and now we wait for it to pick up... Thanks for checking out my grow. Good luck out there!

Plant #1, the cookie descendent, or what is left of it has seen no change this week. I think she is in shock after harvesting so many of the main buds at once... No sign of BR though, so I think we've nipped that in the bud as it were 😂 The main buds dried already (7 days, could be better) and were put in a sealed container to cure with a 62% pack. Not a lot of smell coming from them yet but imagine that will improve even though they were harvested probably only just at the beginning of the window. I'll report back. At least it smells much better than whatevers going on with #2... The purp (#2) smells almost musty... There's no fruitiness or familiar dank smells coming from this one. I guess it smells a lil fizzy? But not in any way I'd find appetising, especially not from bud. But we've been watering with plain pH-adjusted water to see if that helps bring out her terp profile, and that's been for more than a week now. No change thus far. And she's still quite dark green! I think that is partly genetic... Glad to have the grow out of my closet and into a well made tent! Thanks for checking in, good luck folx

I think I'm going crazy but they almost look clearer to me (the trichome stalks especially) than they did a few days ago. Is it depreciating, or is this what happens before they amber up?

Stalks aren’t really gonna get cloudy or amber like the heads do. The heads of the trich certainly should not reverse in color or maturation either. Some areas of the plant appear more mature than others Also, make sure you are looking at the actual bracts/calyxes of the flower, not sugar leaves when assessing ripeness and harvest time.

Purple lemonade is so very close to harvest. Senescence sets in more and more each day, pistils are about 90% coloured throughout the entire plant. Trichs still looking mostly milky, don't see any amber myself but that may be because it's a purp! Ideally I'd like to harvest tomorrow, but we'll see what happens overnight! As for the original pheno of this diary, there has been so little change since I harvested the top half (after a bud rot problem, which has not shown itself at all since then- phew). It was also dealing with a lot of gnats, so I decided to keep it separate from the other plants and out of the tent. It gets daylight and then some shitty supplemental LEDs.. I guess this plant is going to become edibles haha, if the rest of it ever finishes. I was also not really able to ID it, both because of mistakes I made effecting the colour, and because there are so many darn cookie descendents these days! I am very confident in the ID of the purp though - purple lemonade 💪 it doesn't have a strong smell at all, but if you continue rubbing it with your fingers, the smell does grow. I think this one will really show itself in the cure. As for the stuff harvested early from #1, it has been curing and the smell is improving every day. Bag appeal isn't really there because it was cut early, but it does offer a decent smoke all considered with a slightly energetic high.

Bonus material- my cannabutter pics. No smoke report for a while but I can give you an edibles report in a few hours 😂 Plant #1 suffered gravely and thus was harvested early, dried, and turned into beaaautiful butter/edibles hehe. The rest of it is box drying and I'll be doing the same with that. The top of the plant (first harvest of sorts, after bud rot discovered) was 49g dry, not inc ofc what was binned. I'll let you know the dry weight of the rest but no point giving you a smoke report. She was cut early and suffered a looooot The purple lemonade began as the underdog and quickly took over as my #1 babe. It was far more resilient to environmental conditions and changes- and let's not forget that they went through a hurricane with me and power out for a few days! I don't find her strong on the nose at all despite how big some of her buds are, and how frosty. Very piney, and that dominates everything else. Very excited to see what terps come out more in the cure though- I hear great things about this strain. She was cut today and is hanging in a dark closet with small fan, RH 65% and temp 22c. I did not take a wet weight, but she's heavy. Super looking forward to smoking this one, after a few more weeks of TLC... Sigh. Always we try to wait haha. I will report back when I have more for you all. Thanks to everyone that answered my questions and supported me through my first grow. I've definitely got the bug now and there'll be no stopping me haha Will be back with smoke report and dry weights laterrr 🇨🇦 --- Nov 12 - Plant dried for 6 days. It is a lot airier than I thought it was going to be, so most of it ended up as shake for edibles or something. I ended up with 38g of big bud, 33 of smaller, and over 40g of larf and shake. Even the big buds are airy though, not dense at all. A little disappointing for sure, but I made a lot of mistakes so it isn't a surprise. It is now in jars with humidity packs and I'll report back in a couple of weeks or so with a smoke report :)
