Went 0 for 5 on my first attempt at germination using paper towel method and Pro Mix Veg & Herb Mix. Planted the next 5 directly in Pro Mix HP soil (as guy at seed bank recommended) and 3 sprouted.
Since they are Purple Kush plants, I named them Haze, Pills, and Nurple.
Haze was born first, 48 hours after planting. Pills and Nurple appeared a day or two later. Nurple sprouted upside down, the taproot popped up out of the soil while her head stayed buried. I gave her a few days but she wasn't correcting herself, so I gently dug her up and planted her upright, but now she is only growing 1 leaf!
They are stretching a bit too much. I have them under a 16 watt bulb that's probably not strong enough. Wondering if I should turn on my grow light instead.
Haze stretched so much she was close to toppling over... yikes! I used a twist tie thing placed in a little straw as a support. I lowered the grow light to 12 inches instead of the 24 recommended by manufacturer. After having a fan blowing directly on her for 2 straight days, her stem started becoming super thick and sturdy.
I'm enthralled watching them grow. Pills is doing great, no stretching. Nurple finally started growing a tiny little 2nd leaf, but she looks very deformed and stunted. At this rate, I probably wont keep her.
It's my first grow and all so I'm not an expert or anything, but it seems like Haze is an entirely different strain of weed than Pills. Haze's leaves are shaped differently, and Pills is much less stretchy even though they are exposed to the same light. Kinda fishy but whatever.
Nurple is gone. No growth, no nothing, so she's history. RIP Nurple. Not content with only 2 plants, I planted 3 more seeds of another strain, Gorilla Glue #4, an even harder hitter than the Purple Kush. All 3 sprouted beautifully.
Since they are female Gorillas, I've named them Koko, Momo, and Bobo.
Gave the other two their first feeding of the Advanced Nutrients PH Perfect mix this week and they are loving it, growing faster than ever.
Haze is only a few days older than Pills but she has really taken off, outgrowing her little sister. I topped her a few days ago and she immediately started drooping, I guess from the stress. Within 48 hours she perked right up and is pushing out 8 tops now! 8 fucking tops! I guess I fimmed instead of topped. I ain't complaining!
The tops on Haze are growing nicely, 8 in total. Haven't topped Pills yet.
Transplanted both into their final home at the beginning of the week. Went smooth, they showed no signs of stress whatsoever. Upped the nutes to 4 ml per litre and growth rate is taking off now.
The 3 little seedlings are growing perfectly.
Haze stretching a little bit more than I like after topping. Gonna set up the scrog this week. Might need to think about getting my second light in there sooner than planned.
