Started in shot glass with 6.0 150ppm achieved using superthrive and a drop of calmag.
Soaked 24hrs, then placed on damp paper towel in Tupperware on a heat pad.
Following morning, taproot had formed so transferred to rockwool. With same 6.0 solution.
Following morning, they had broken ground.
Update, they have developed their first true leaves and were starting to stretch under 7k, so I turned the lights up to 13k then 15k lux and they seem to be loving it.
The rdwc has been running for days and no leaks or malfunctions so far. Once I harvest my 4x8 I will be building a similar system in it, but with 2, 2 site totes with the intention of vegging in this 2x4 for 4-5 weeks then taking the entire lid with the plants and putting in the 4x8 tote for flower. Then immediately start 2 more in the veg tent. Keep 3 sets of 2 in 4-5 week rotation and potentially harvest every 1.5 months, depending on how long it takes em to finish of course.
Developing nicely, seeing growth every day. No taproot visible from net pot yet, but it's a big net pot so that's understandable. Top watering continues until roots reach water.
They are currently around 13-16k lux and seem to be loving it. If the leaf tips on one look a little burnt that may be from foliar feeding with the same liquid germinated with consisting of superthrive and calmag.
Update, things are going well, seeing plenty of root activity. Nice fishboning too. Excited to see how these turn out!
Everything's going well, no water leaks, roots are looking good, leaves are looking healthy, etc.
I'm glad things are working well because this is the prototype of a bigger rdwc system I'm going to set up in the 4x8 after I harvest the cherry gar see ya.
Unfortunately have rum into issues with brown slime. Will be treating the roots with a brewed great white tea. Otherwise I have introduced cannazyme to help deal with the dead root matter and slime.
Looking good this week. Fixed the root rot problem and roots are going crazy now. Unfortunately these are autos so they are destined to flower any day now, pistils are already showing so I imagine they are in the stretch right now.
Probably won't yield too much but this was an experiment to get my rdwc system dialed I'm anyways so I'm not upset.
Have been still fighting root rot. Have added air stones and pump, great white, cannazyme, and still having issues.
Better than it was though, and they are definitely growing so I guess we will see what happens!
Back to looking good and growing well, though since they were stunted I'm am finishing them in the 2x4 if space will allow. I have reached max height with my light, so if the bigger one gets any taller I'll have to move them to the 4x8.
I think the biggest problem I've had this run is using unfiltered tap water. It is my assessment that the chemicals in the tap are neutralizing my bennies and enzymes. There will most certainly be a ro filter in my future.
For now I have been bubbling my water for a few days before adding, and only topping up rather than doing a full change as to further dilute whatever chems may be present and hopefully prevent them from doing harm.
Well, things have definitely bounced back. I have already learned a lot about dwc through this grow.
I have come to realize my tap water is no good for bennies. Pumping air through the water for a few days works to get out the chlorine and most of the chloramene, but to lessen the possibility of killing my bacteria I have been only topping up rather than doing a full res change.
It may sound bad to never empty and clean the res, but actually the enzymes keep things decently clean. Twice now that I have done res changes I have gotten root rot after, though I was not aerating the water before hand at that point. Since I have started aerating and only topping up, the ecosystem has been thriving.
As you can see, I moved them into the 4x8 under the se7000. Once they bounce back from the rot they went straight into stretch and one of the branches was literally touching my sf2k with no space to move it up.
I moved everything over and installed the trellis net, at the time they were starting to droop from the stress of moving the system, so training them out was very easy. The branches were flexible and none broke.
Even though it's not the most dense canopy I've seen, it is pretty much filling a 4x4 space and has plenty of bud sites. Should be a decent harvest in about another month.
Things are looking good and smelling even better! Very surprised by how much of a comeback these autos have made. If this keeps up I will hopefully get close to a lb or more.
I'm glad things have turned around for these girls, and that my dwc seems to be dialed in.
Used up the rest of my overdrive on the last grow so trying out some tps signal as my bloom booster/terp enhancer. Never used their products before, but they have great reviews so I have high hopes. Will review properly after harvest.
Thanks for checking them out! Happy growing my friends!
Things are going great! Went on a 3 day vacation and came back with new growth and no problems.
Can't say for sure if it's the tps signal or just good genetics, but these things smell *amazing*... some serious sour and citrus/tropical fruit stank that even the carbon filter can't completely cover...
Needless to say, I'm very excited to see how much these girls swell up. They are already so frosty I was scared of white powdery mildew, but I've inspected and defoliated and there isn't and mildew to be found. Just sweet, juicy trichs.
I haven't really changed much this week other than adjusting the light and nute ratio. They have completely stopped stretching and are swelling now, so I have angled the light to be more even with the top of the canopy. Considering adding an sf2000 as a side light...
Thanks for checking me out, as always happy growing friends!
Pretty much running on autopilot. Just keeping the res topped up and in range until harvest.
May be able to tell from the pics, but I have some n tox going on, due to running a perpetual res. I am going to start changing the res every week now, I just didn't have a big enough container to gas off my tap before so I only did it 5 gal at a time.
They are swelling nicely and covered in trichromes. Smells killer, like fruity pebbles.
I added the sf2k as a side light, as the lower budsites aren't quite swelling like I want them to. I'd say just another 2 weeks or so and they will be done.
I have started acquiring the materials for my next rdwc run, and will be putting it together once I finalize the design. The next will be similar to this one, albeit 2 totes connected together for 4 total plant sites.
All is well! The plant on the right is fading nicely and seems to be ripening up nicely. The one on the left looks like it needs a little longer.
I have been watching the trichromes on the one on the right, and I'm seeing a bit of amber here and there but mostly white and clear. Still waiting it out. Going to chop when I see about 15% amber consistently.
The other I haven't checked the trichromes yet but will be this week. The bud formation and pistils seem to indicate that it is behind by a bit so probably another 2 weeks.
I will end up doing a staggered harvest to chop them each at their optimal times.
I am reducing temperatures a bit as well as light intensity to help preserve terps in these last weeks.
Man, this is some terpy bud! I'll have to update with exact weight but easily a pound or more. Now that they've been in the jar a few weeks, the tropical fruit smell has gotten a bit danker, kinda gas or diesel notes. A few tokes will get ya nice and stoney, but over do it and it'll put you to sleep.
Whole plants were hung upside down without defoliating, at 60f/60rh for approx 13 days, then trimmed and jarred. Burped once per day first week, then added boveda packs to each jar.
I was already smoking it firs week in the jar. Smelled great and smoked great too from the start. Amazing what a good controlled dry will do!
@Inganjawetrust, nice!
I got these as freebies when I ordered planet of the grapes fem. I may have to see if they have photos of this cultivar... the terps are amazing. Smells like tropical fruit from outside the grow room even with carbon filter.
