Hi all! Starting my new diary with Royal AK Auto from Royal Queen Seeds.
Day 1: The seed germinated on 4th day under 23 C and 90% RH. I put the peat cube into the soil right before the cotyledons came out. Snapped the end of the root (5 mm) while transplanting :(. One hour later cotyledons came out and opened. The shell was left in the soil completely. The stem is very strong. I like this seedling very much. Seems no damage was caused by broken root.
Used 12L airpot, 10L soil-perlite mix, 2.5L of water with pH 6.3, 120 ppm.
The soil is very soft and retains water very well. I had almost zero runoff after 2.5L watering.
Performed Calcium test of the spring water I’m using. It’s 50 ppm. Good to know!
Day 2: 130 PPFD, 9.4 DLI. She’s already asking for some light.
Day 3: 200 PPFD, 14.4 DLI. She was pointing to the lamp like the light intensity wasn't enough for her. Increased light a bit. Progressing slowly, probably some damage was done while transplanting. At least she's alive :)
Day 4: 200 PPFD, 14.4 DLI. She’s quite slow, although the first pair of leaves looks nice and clean. Stem is long, will cover few cm with soil.
Day 5: 200 PPFD, 14.4 DLI. Added soil to hide the long stem.
Day 6: 200 PPFD, 14.4 DLI. Today I watered the seedling till runoff to check the soil. I was shocked when saw 2200 ppm in runoff. Flushed with pH corrected water and FlashClean 2ml/l to wash out excessive nutrients. After 11,5 L of solution ppm was 370, although pH of runoff was about 7. What a stupid mistake to buy the soil without label. Hope she will be fine.
@bobo66, good results! I don’t think there’s a huge difference between the most popular stocks, as genetics and technology is pretty similar. Proper selection from scratch would take decades. They produce at least few strains every year. That means they are keeping the wave of strong genomes by constant crossing the most good-looking phenos. All base strains were developed long time ago. Anyways, RQS is one of my favourites.
