Introduction - Week 13 Summary -
Ensign's log, stardate 101560.7,
A somewhat simple week of growing.
Throughout this week, been fine tuning and dialing in the VPD by adjusting the environmental controls.
Mid week, fed the worm bin. It's been a while so gave them a good feeding. The next feeding will probably be a fresh bin transplant.
Also defoliated the second plant in the original EarthBox a bit.
The rest of the week was basic checkups and humidifier refilling.
Not much else. Overall an easy grow week!

-----------------------------------
- [09:55]: Morning checkup!
--- Growth is looking good!
--- Fuel and gas terpene profiles are getting me stoked!
--- Unlike the last grow, each plant smells identical in odor and the tent is getting louder with fuel!
--- Feeding tonight!
--- Okay, it's been a while.
- [12:31]: Decided to check the worm bin!
--- It's been whooping 36 days since the last feeding and checkup
--- Wow it's really been a while!
--- Opened the bin and was surprised to see a bit of brown paper still on the surface. Also a few worms were crawling along the sides too!
--- Gave the bin a quick mix and was glad to find a bunch more!
--- The substrate felt more like mud but had a bit of fluff to it. The moisture was also a bit on the high side.
--- Gonna give the wormies a feast!
- [12:39]: Feeding a bit of spinach, along with pieces of broccoli, carrots, and frozen bananas.
--- As usual, going to also inoculate with some Kashi Blend.
--- After a good mixing, I made a hole in the center of the substrate.
--- Then layered some spinach.
--- Added bits of broccoli and carrots.
--- Then carefully sliced and layered the frozen banana.
--- Covered the whole thing with more spinach.
--- Also going to give a bit of Clackamas Coot's Gnarly Barley. Heard that worms like it, so going to give it a go! Received it as whole sprouted seeds. Milled a solo cup in a blender for a bit and placed the powder in a paper bag for later.
--- Sprinkled 1tbsp of milled Gnarly Barley
--- Then placed the mango seed on top (yep, it's still there).
--- Layered the rest of the spinach on top.
--- Since the substrate was a bit on the muddy side, decided to top the bin off with a bit of dry soil.
--- Added a solo cup of BAS Oly Mountain soil.
--- Spread the soil out evenly.
--- Sprinkled 1tbsp of milled Gnarly Barley
--- Sprinkled 1tbsp of Kashi Blend
--- Layered on some brown paper scraps and topped the whole thing with a fresh brown piece of paper.
--- Did not add any water.
- [13:12]: Sealed the bin with a freshly cleaned lid.
--- Done!
--- Eat on my wormies!
--- Okay!
--- Based on the current substrate's texture, the next feeding will most likely be a full bin transplant and harvest. By then, all plants should be growing, so will probably transplant a few worms into both EarthBoxes too.
- [16:03]: Evening checkup!
--- Ladies are looking nice and growing along nicely!
--- Buds are really starting to stack!
- [16:08]: Checked the soil moisture for both EarthBoxes.
--- The soil for the new EarthBox was pretty moist (with a reading of 7 out of 10).
--- Checked the other side which was bone dry (with a reading of 1.5 out of 10).
--- The top soil was still looking pretty hydrated on both sides.
--- The soil for the original EarthBox was actually pretty dry but looking good (with a reading of a 3 out of 10).
--- The top soil was looking pretty dry.
--- Going to feed and take readings similar to last week.
--- Okay!
- [17:49]: Took PPFD readings.
--- PPFD readings for the main grow was at 656 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 42.51 mol/m2/d
--- PPFD readings for the young plant was at 794 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 51.45 mol/m2/d
--- PPFD readings for the twin early bloomer was at 431 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 27.93 mol/m2/d
--- PPFD readings for the twin late bloomer was at 429 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 27.80 mol/m2/d
--- Since I doubt the smaller plants will yield anything significant, going to switch my DLI targets to the larger plants.
--- With a DLI goal of 40 mol/m2/d for the taller plants, going to lower the PPFD levels by raising the light.
- [17:55]: Adjusted a garden yo-yo.
--- Basically tightened the yo-yo that was bending the second plant in the EarthBox.
--- This was to lower the top to just below the height of the original grow.
- [18:54]: Raised the light up a bit.
--- Also adjusted the fan a bit too. Angled it upwards towards the light. This should help to cool the light down.
--- New readings were taken.
--- PPFD readings for the main grow was at 614 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 39.79 mol/m2/d
--- PPFD readings for the young plant was at 589 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 38.17 mol/m2/d
--- PPFD readings for the twin early bloomer was at 396 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 25.66 mol/m2/d
--- PPFD readings for the twin late bloomer was at 381 μmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 24.69 mol/m2/d
--- With a DLI goal of 40 mol/m2/d for the taller plants, levels look pretty good!
- [20:01]: Took height readings.
--- The original grow was around 17" tall.
--- The second plant in the original EarthBox was about 15.5" tall!
--- The twin early bloomer was 8" tall!
--- The twin late bloomer was 10" tall!
--- The distance between the canopy of the original grow and light was around 20"
--- The distance between the young plant and the light was around 20.5"
--- The distance between the twin early bloomer and the light was around 29.25"
--- The distance between the twin late bloomer and the light was around 28"
--- Rotated the EarthBox configuration 90 degrees counter clockwise.
--- Time to start the feeding!
--- First the foliar spray!
--- This will probably be one of the last foliar feedings.
- [20:32]: Filled a pitcher with 4 cups of distilled water.
--- Added 1/32tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract
--- Added 1/16tsp of:
----- BuildABloom
----- Bio-Phos
----- Big 6 Micronutrients [+ Humic Acid]
--- Added 1/4tsp of:
----- Pure Protein Dry [Organic Fish Aminos]
--- Added 1/2tsp of:
----- Horticultural Coconut
--- Added 3mL of Yah-Whey
--- Mixed the solution and poured it straight into a spray bottle.
- [21:02]: Defoliated the yellowing and necrotic leaves.
--- Tucked the trimmings under the center of the mulch cover.
- [21:47]: Misted the top growth of all plants.
--- Sprayed heavily making sure to spray under the leaves.
--- [30 minutes later]
--- Misted the top growth again.
--- Okay for another top feeding!
- [22:39]: Added 1mL of Bio-Catalyst Enzyme Elixer (increased the dosage by quite a bit from last week)
--- Mixed the remaining solution and poured half (~340mL - 1.35cups) into a measuring cup for later.
--- Misted the other half onto the top soil of the original EarthBox.
- [23:00]: Rotated the EarthBoxes back to the default configuration.
--- Then poured the solution saved from earlier into the spray bottle and misted the top soil of the new EarthBox (just the left and right sides).
--- Also refilled the humidifier with distilled water and Hydrogen Peroxide (~20mL).
Day 05 - Friday - 12/16/22 - Total Days: 093 [048] [044]
-----------------------------------
Daily Averages

[END OF WEEK 13]
@gottagrowsometime,
Thanks! Yea, these seeds were a bit pale, but the germinated seed has already sprouted from the soil and I looks healthy. Hoping for the best!
@Dirty_Hippy,
Siiick!! Now I'm no expert but feel free to follow along growmie! I try to post weekly! I'm still learning how to grow in it, but have so far enjoyed using the EarthBox. I recommend checking out the BuildASoil YT channel if you really want great free info on organic growing in the EarthBox.
