Introduction - Week 16 Summary -
Ensign's log, stardate 100619.51,
Another easy week of growing! Aside for basic maintenance and new soil moisture sensors, not much else was done.
Early this week, I gave the humidifier a good cleaning.
Did a slight defoliation during the mid-week feeding. Also am increasing the watering dosage.
Towards the end of the week, received and installed some Ecowitt soil meters! These will help me to fine tune my future waterings by constantly logging and tracking the moisture levels within the surrounding soil (I put 2 sensors in each EarthBox).
Wow the tall twin is just raging! She already has a decent sized cola starting to develop! May do a bit of low-stress training next week.
Also checked trichomes and as expected, there were still clear heads with most being cloudy. No ambering quite yet. Still have a bit to go, but getting hyped none the less!
Everyone overall looks and smells incredible!
Steady as she grows Ensign! ๐

- [09:35]: Good morning ladies!
--- Bud growth is looking great!
--- Plan to check trichomes either this week or next!
- [21:24]: Evening checkup!
--- Growth still looking good!
--- Slapped with terpenes as soon I opened the tent!
--- Incredible how a carbon filter can scrub out the aroma because these ladies smell dank!
--- Hmm.
--- Well was planning on refilling the humidifier, but the tank is getting a bit dirty, so decided to give the whole unit a good cleaning tomorrow.
--- Until then, going to let the current tank drain a bit more before cleaning (either in the morning or afternoon).
Day 02 - Tuesday - 01/03/23 - Total Days: 111 [066] [062]
-----------------------------------
Daily Averages

- [09:00]: Morning girls!
--- Wow growth looks and smells great!
--- The tallest twin is really starting to take off! She is starting to bush out!
- [09:03]: Okay time to clean the humidifier.
--- Took the entire unit out of the tent and rinsed the base with hot tap water and poured in some CLR to soak for a bit.
--- Did the same with the tank.
--- Shook the tank and rinsed clean with hot tap water.
--- Then drained the base unit and rinsed with more hot tap water.
--- Gave the tent's floor a quick wiping for debris.
--- Then towel dried the outside of the base before placing it back into the tent.
--- Lastly,
--- Filled the tank with distilled water and Hydrogen Peroxide (~20mL) before placing it back on.
--- Done!
- [16:38]: My BuildASoil package arrived!
--- Sweet!
--- All four Ecowitt soil sensors plus the WiFi hub arrived in perfect condition (also thanks for the sticker)!
--- Plan to set these up tonight after watering!
- [16:21]: Good evening ladies!
--- Wow despite all the setbacks, growth looks phenomenal!
--- The tallest twin is just dominating the EarthBox she's in. She is just bushing out!
--- The tent is really loud now too! Definitely louder than it's ever been inside the tent since I've started growing!
--- Hyped!
--- Even though I am going to be install the new soil moisture meters, until I am more familiar with the new sensors, also going to continue to use the basic soil probe meter.
- [16:41]: Checked the soil moisture for both EarthBoxes.
--- The soil for the new EarthBox was getting drier (with a reading of 2.8 out of 10).
--- The soil on the other side had slightly more moisture (with a reading of a 3 out of 10).
--- The top soil on both sides still looked nice and hydrated.
--- The soil for the original EarthBox was pretty dry (with a reading of a 2.5 out of 10).
--- The top soil was also looking moist but drier than the new EarthBox.
--- Time to bottom water!
--- Going with the same dosage as last week (3 cups in each reservoir).
- [17:03]: Filled a pitcher with 6 cups of distilled water.
--- Added 1/32tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract
--- Added 3/32tsp (or 1/16 + 1/32) of Bio-Phos
--- Added 1/2tsp of Horticultural Coconut
--- Added 1.75mL of Bio-Catalyst Enzyme Elixer
--- Added 6mL of Yah-Whey
--- Mixed the solution and poured 3 cups into each EarthBox's fill tube.
--- Done!
--- Waiting for the batteries to charge for the soil sensor (should have charged them earlier).
- [18:25]: Connected the Ecowitt WiFi gateway hub.
--- The Ecowitt App (WSView Plus) is not as fancy as AC Infinity, but managed to get it connected to my network and working.
--- Not sure how to access graphs and charts yet, but this may be available once the moisture sensors are connected.
- [20:33]: Ah-ha! In order to view any of the sensor data in chart form, the devices need to be registered and synced with the Ecowitt servers.
--- Once this was complete, I gained access both graphs and data charts!
--- Apparently the gateway hub will automatically sync new sensors in range (up to 8 units).
--- To ensure I don't mix everything up, plan to sync them one at a time.
--- Great!
--- Stoked to start the logging process!
--- Unfortunately,
--- Still waiting on the AA batteries to charge (damnit Ensign)..
--- [*smokes a bowl]
Day 03 - Wednesday - 01/04/23 - Total Days: 112 [067] [063]

- Humidity: 56.6%
- VPD: 1.41 kPa
-----------------------------------
- [09:08]: Morning my girls!
--- Growing along nicely!
--- Growth looks and smells incredible!
--- Also on some of the sugar leaves, a bit or purple is starting to occur. Very cool!
- [09:13]: Okay time to (finally) install the new soil moisture meters!
--- For each unit, I placed a freshly charged AA battery and covered the top with the provided moisture protection cap. Then checked the app to make sure it was synced accordingly.
--- Did this one at a time.
- [09:16]: Once every soil sensor was online and synced with the hub, I placed two units in each EarthBox (a few inches away from each plant).
--- To help with installation, I rotated the EarthBoxes around a few times.
--- Using a pair of scissors, I cut a tiny slit into the mulch cover before inserting the sensor (straight down).
--- To make top waterings easier, I made sure to keep the sensor placement towards the middle of the mulch cover.
--- Wow buds are just coated in trichomes!
--- Also gave a few stem rubs and wow the terps are loud!
--- The tallest twin is just raging now with growth! Incredible!
Day 04 - Thursday - 01/05/23 - Total Days: 113 [068] [064]

--- The soil for the new EarthBox was getting dry (with a reading of 3.1 out of 10).
--- Checked the other side which was even drier (with a reading of 2 out of 10).
--- The top soil was still looking pretty hydrated on both sides.
--- The soil for the original EarthBox was dry on both sides (with a reading of a 2 out of 10).
--- As usual, the top soil was looking drier than the other EarthBox.
- [16:33]: Checked the current Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data:
--- 26% - [CH01 EB1 Original Grow]
--- 19% - [CH02 EB1 Second Plant]
--- 26% - [CH03 EB2 Short Twin]
--- 24% - [CH04 EB2 Tall Twin]
--- All around moisture levels seem low but even.
--- Going to top water 4 cups for both EarthBoxes.
- [16:46]: Took PPFD readings.
--- PPFD readings for the main grow was at 665 ฮผmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 43.09 mol/m2/d
--- PPFD readings for the young plant was at 641 ฮผmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 41.54 mol/m2/d
--- PPFD readings for the short twin was at 439 ฮผmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 28.45 mol/m2/d
--- PPFD readings for the tall twin was at 528 ฮผmol/m2/s which gives a DLI of 34.21 mol/m2/d
--- With a DLI goal of 45 mol/m2/d (which is a PPFD goal of 694 ฮผmol/m2/s) for the taller plants, not going to adjust the PPFD.
- [17:08]: Took height readings.
--- The original grow was around 17.25" tall.
--- The second plant in the original EarthBox was still about 15" tall.
--- The twin early bloomer was 8.75" tall.
--- The twin late bloomer was 15.5" tall!
--- The distance between the canopy of the original grow and light was around 18"
--- The distance between the young plant and the light was around 21"
--- The distance between the twin early bloomer and the light was around 27.5"
--- The distance between the twin late bloomer and the light was around 19.5"
- [17:34]: Rotated the EarthBox configuration 90 degrees counter clockwise.
--- Time to start the feeding!
- [17:57]: Filled a pitcher with 8 cups of distilled water.
--- Added 1/16tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract
--- Added 1/8tsp of:
----- BuildABloom
----- Bio-Phos
----- Big 6 Micronutrients [+ Humic Acid]
--- Added 1/2tsp of:
----- Pure Protein Dry [Organic Fish Aminos]
--- Added 1tsp of:
----- Horticultural Coconut
--- Added 2.5mL of Bio-Catalyst Enzyme Elixer
--- Added 6mL of Yah-Whey
--- Mixed the solution and poured half straight into a spray bottle (4cups).
--- Set the remaining solution along with the bottle aside for later.
- [18:27]: Did a slight defoliation of damaged leaves.
--- Tucked the trimmings under the center of the mulch cover.
- [18:40]: Misted the top soil of the original EarthBox with the entire bottle of solution (4 cups).
--- Tried to mist both sides evenly.
--- Also sprayed under the mulch cover by lifting it up with one hand while misting with the other.
- [19:00]: Rotated the EarthBoxes back to the default configuration.
--- Then poured the solution saved from earlier into the spray bottle and misted the top soil of the new EarthBox.
--- Also refilled the humidifier with distilled water and Hydrogen Peroxide (~20mL).
--- Screw it! Most likely still too early, but gonna check trichomes!
- [19:26]: Using a pair of trimmers, I clipped off small bud samples!
--- Only sampled the plants in the original EarthBox.
--- I clipped off two buds from each plant. The first near the bottom of the plant and second near the top.
--- Time to bust out the USB microscope and start checking the trichomes!
--- Trichomes naturally progress through three stages of development (clear, cloudy, amber).
--- Going for a 10-15% amber to cloudy ratio before the big harvest!
- [19:40]: Checked each bud for trichomes!
--- Wow the trichomes look beautiful! Always a trippy sight to behold!
--- Trichome heads are mostly cloudy with clear heads towards the bottom. No signs of amber heads quite yet.
--- This is as expected. I'll probably check trichomes in 2-3 weeks.
--- Getting stoked for harvest!
- [20:06]: Checked the current Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data:
--- 26% - [CH01 EB1 Original Grow]
--- 19% - [CH02 EB1 Second Plant]
--- 27% - [CH03 EB2 Short Twin]
--- 24% - [CH04 EB2 Tall Twin]
--- Moisture levels seem about the same.
--- Stoked to finally be able to quantify and log soil moisture levels!
--- Plan to add soil moisture percentage levels for future the daily logs.
--- Over time, this should help me to fine tune each watering.

[END OF WEEK 16]
@gottagrowsometime,
Thanks! Yea, these seeds were a bit pale, but the germinated seed has already sprouted from the soil and I looks healthy. Hoping for the best!
@Dirty_Hippy,
Siiick!! Now I'm no expert but feel free to follow along growmie! I try to post weekly! I'm still learning how to grow in it, but have so far enjoyed using the EarthBox. I recommend checking out the BuildASoil YT channel if you really want great free info on organic growing in the EarthBox.
