Germinated 4 critical mass auto flowers using the water method. All four seeds sprouted within 24 hours but left them in until the tails were about 1 1/2". I always have tremendous success using this method. BTW this is my first tent grow. I have had grown outside but last summer and the heat waves destroyed over half my crop. :(
Germination went well and placed them into solo cups. I went with a 20 hr light schedule prior to them breaking through the soil. Tried something different and grabbed four slurpee lids for domes to keep the RH up. Normally the RH is low in the area. One still has the seed pod around her. Hopefully she breaks out. The raging kush 2.0 led has legit ability to control intensity, red/blue spectrum and built my own recipe for the little lady's. Using ILGM nutes seedling starter @ 25% strength.
Well week 2 is going well and seeing some decent growth. Just added their first nutes. I'm sticking with FF grow big as that is what I use outdoor and know it well. One of the girls I call the runt had the shell of the seed stuck. Ironically, the cotyledon leaves were removed but as you see she is growing. That is a first! My biggest challenge is maintaining temp. Even with A/C temps can reach 90. I've been challenged but find just opening the front of the tent helps. Average temp is 81F. BTW, This weekend I'll be moving them into 5 gal fabric pots. My soil of choice will be FFOF. Hope this helps
Week 3 and they are growing big quickly! Runt is hanging in there and starting to develop more leaves. Transplanted them last Saturday into 5-gallon fabric pots. They seem small compared to my usual 20-gallon pots for outside grow's. I used 100% FFOF. Again, this is the same soil I use for outdoor and didn't want to re-learn a soil. We are expecting cooler temps this weekend but being inside should not be an issue. I'm impressed by auto-flowers, and they seem to adapt well to changes. I'm also learning as much as I can about Scynce Raging Kush 2.0 light. They are way into the spectrum of light and photosynthesis. The app is amazing but wish the light had a built in wifi without having to buy a third-party device. Same goes for the exhaust fan. Overall, things are looking good.
The past week they really took off on growth. Had to increase water from .33 gal to .5 gal due to very low humidity. Speaking of which, I ordered an AC Infinity humidifier. She be shipped after 10/31. I do like that it has a probe so it will automatically turn off. I did find a caterpillar on one plant but I'm guessing it came from the drying flowers from my outdoor grow. I use the same room for drying. It caused some leaf damage but not too bad. After this week I'm switching to the flowering light schedule that will have more red and less blue. This will begin on week 5. I'll also start to add bloom nutes at 25%. Any thoughts on this?
Another good week! The two plants in the back are looking thin. I'm not sure but still look healthy. Runt is really beginning to fill out nicely. I switched my lighting on the raging kush to flowering and keeping the 20 hour schedule. According to their recipe this adds my red's and less blue's. I also began adding FF Tiger and Big bloom to their diet. Another add on was humidifier from AC Infinity. My daily RH was getting into the 20's. Goal is around 45% RH into flowering for a couple of weeks. Outdoor grows I never had to deal with this as mother nature was in command. We will see...
sorry for the late update. The 2 plants in the rear looking thinner yet healthy. I noticed the soil seems dry more often than not. Trying not to over water. Since my lights are on 20 hrs a day I'm thinking of watering more often. I did add the screen for the scrog. Runt is late in her flowering but bushy as can be. Reduced the FF nutes as I saw the tips burn a bit.
As for watering day time temps with all fans on can get up to 86 to 88 degrees. Humidity no more than 50%. Thoughts???
Week 7 turned out not so good. The White fly has been busy. This is my fault as I used last summers fabric pots and most likely came from them. This is why the two plant are thin. I have been spraying them with NEEM's oil every day two days. Plus did some light pruning of infested eggs. Another option I started was to lower the humidity down to 25. Overall they are doing ok but with another 3/4 weeks to go we will see.
If anyone has some tips please share. As a outdoor grower primarily I rarely treat this issue as the plants are very large and numerous.
Well the Neems helped but concerned about taste once they are done. They are starting to thicken up and think the worst is behind. To avoid this I'll toss the bags after harvest, give a solid cleaning of the tent and wipe everything down. Last week I pulled a ton of lower leaves that were infest with eggs. Now I am only finding a few leaves with minimal eggs and a lot less flies. good lesson learned. I did up their water from 1/2 gal to 3/4 as I lower the RH to combat the flies. For info my domestic water is hard 7.8 to 8.0 ph so during nutes it balances but regular watering requires acid and usually balance with 1.1 ml to achieve a ph of 6.5.
Still battling the whit fly but nothing is dead. Will be a small harvest but colas are riping and getting thicker. This will be the last week of nutes and begin the flush. I'm looking at one maybe 2 more weeks. Some trichomes are turning amber on top.
This week was light pruning, flushing of the nutes and killing white flies. None of the plants died but can't help to wonder if this is why they are short. maybe because they are auto flowers? Anyways, trichomes have yet to turn amber so harvest is not there yet.
Overall, indoor grows are great for simple consumption unless you get big tents. I did not to keep the carbon filter until the end. I did go through a period of white flies and treated with Neems oil, dish soap and water. This slowed them down but did not eradicate them totally. I believe the overall amount would have been more if they were not present. Again this was my fault for bringing an outdoor plant into the tent. The SCROG really was not needed as they never got bigger than 3 feet. Auto flower is great for tents but for outdoor not so... My next will be a photo plant and tweaking the light. Thinking a easy one like blue dream or Skywalker O.G.
