9/6 Biochar/EWC/Hydroton mixture created in 5-gal bucket. Bucket was put in the basement with a lid on top. 9/24 Mixed up the coco, perlite, and charged Biochar/EWC/Hydroton. Added Azomite, Glacial rock dust, DE, Oyster shell. Took 2 solo cups worth of that mix out for seed starting. Neem seed meal, Bat guano, Langbeinite, Gaia green premix added to the remainder after that. This will cook for 1-2 weeks. 10/1 Seeds put in water. 10/2 Soil put in 5 gal pots and solo cup emptied into formed hole in center for seed starting. Seeds added to the starter soil in the center, light set low to about 150 PAR. Humidity domes added. Soil was saturated, probably too wet. 10/5 First signs of seedlings, only just poking out. *10/6 Both have sprouted and look good. After reading Mephisto’s grow guide and seeing they mostly use 24/0 light schedule I made the change to 20/4 from 18/6, 2am-6am. Adjusted PAR to about 200. 10/7 Removed humidity domes, tweaked fan to get a little airflow on them. 10/9 The furnace is shitting the bed which means I must adjust for cold temps at night. Raised the light higher and turned the dimmer up higher to hopefully create more heat, new PAR setting of 225. Moved light to full 24 hours on to also create more heat, as well as pointing a fan at the top of the light to send warm air down to the seedlings.

10/13 Fixed the furnace today so I’m no longer concerned about nighttime temps getting too cold. They’ve been doing fine with 24 hours of light thus far, but I think regardless of what works and what doesn’t I’m opposed to running that light schedule. Going to switch to 22/2 for less of a shock and see how that goes. Readjusted light height to 18” at 240 Par (or 40% on the dimmer) 10/14 Both look happy. Good growth. I debated watering today but I think there’s still just enough water in there to justify waiting one more day. Changed light schedule back to 20/4 (2am – 6am) 10/15 Decided today is first watering. Ph pen didn’t seem right, so I did a 2-point calibration on it. Took .75 gal of distilled and added ¼ tsp of recharge, PH was 6.3. Split that evenly between both plants. Adjusted light to about 270 PAR 10/16 Both plants look really happy. Only issue so far is that L is noticeably behind R. Hopefully it catches up. Light adjusted to 290 PAR. 10/18 Good growth. Took a little under a gallon of distilled water and added 2ml of ArmorSi silica, a spoonful of molasses, and a crapload of PH down to get it to 6.6 and split that between both plants. Moved light up to 22” and adjusted to 300 PAR 10/20 Everything is perfect so far. Zero discoloration and great growth. Adjusted light up to 330 PAR.

10/23 Light adjusted to 375 PAR. Added ¼ tsp of recharge and about 1ml of ArmorSi silica to about .75 gallons of distilled water. Adjusted PH down to 6.5. Likely to start LST soon. 10/24 First sign of little white pistils on both. Started LST today, maybe waited a bit too long to start but at least it went well. 10/25 Adjusted light to 26” and a PAR setting of 415. Both have adjusted upright from yesterday’s LST, but I’ll leave them be for another day or 2 before I do more. 10/26 The past 2 days have been unusually warm out. Day time temps in my tent have been spiking up into the 80s, and now I may be seeing the first signs of heat stress. It was about time to turn up the oscillating fan speed anyway so I went and did that. Also gave each a ¼ gal of water, 6.3 PH, just to make sure the roots stay cool. 10/27 The temps outside are dropping finally and now the tent is back to where it should be. Some new growth has a twisted look however, and it occurs to me that my last bump up in PAR coincided with the 2 day heat wave. Likely had a combo of extra heat and extra light that added together for some stress. I bumped up the light height just a few clicks to bring the new PAR setting down a touch to 410 while they get back to health. Did more LST on R, but L is still a bit behind so I’ll wait before it’s next round. *Late night change* - Started to see new growth showing with yellow on the tips. I also discovered that when testing PAR intensity I can greatly manipulate the number depending on how much of my door is hanging near the plants (due to the reflective interior). Since I’m basing my light height and dimmer based off of PAR readings, I’m going to take measurements with the door half zipped up from now on. For example, earlier today I had the PAR setting at 410, but with the door half zipped I was in the mid 500s, FAR too high. I backed it down so it reads about 400 half zipped up, which astonishingly only reads about 315 PAR with the door wide open. This seems like it will be a major point of emphasis for myself going forward.

10/28 Did LST to L, R is still fine from yesterday. Double checked my PAR numbers after last nights revelation and sure enough this was part of my issue. Currently at canopy height I’m getting a reading around 425 PAR instead of 315 PAR with my old method. So for the past couple weeks I’ve been blasting them with ~100 more PAR than I intended. I suppose a few twisted and weird looking leaves is getting off easy though, doesn’t seem to be any significant damage done. 10/29 Mixed up 1 gallon of distilled water with ¼ tsp of Recharge, 1 Tbsp of molasses, and ½ tsp of Epsom salt and split it between both plants. All of that by itself PH’d at 6.5 which is a good one to remember. Did some LST work on both and ended up defoliating 1 fan leaf on R. It’s too soon in my mind to be defoliating but that one fan leaf was huge and blocking loads of light to good spots. It felt justified. Adjusted light to about 450 PAR with door half shut. 10/30 More LST work for both today. Also trimmed 1 fan leaf off L for the same reasons as R yesterday. Bumped light up to 500 PAR with door half closed. 10/31 Both pots were already starting to get light, and growth has definitely started to accelerate. Decided to mix up another gallon of distilled with ½ tsp of epsom salt and 1 Tbsp of molasses. Then I added 10 drops of ArmorSi just as an alternative to PH up, got it to 6.4, and split it between both. I’ve been running a 20/4 light schedule even though starting this run I intended an 18/6 schedule, and I decided to go back to 18/6. I also just discovered DLI and how that works, so without making any changes to the light other than schedule I am now at 32.4 DLI. 11/1 Bumped light up to 550 PAR or 35.6 DLI. More LST work.

11/3 Mixed up another gallon of distilled with ½ tsp Epsom salt, ¼ tsp recharge, and a spoonful of molasses. Added 4 drops of silica to get a PH of 6.4 and split that between both. Removed the first set of leaves way down at the bottom and a single large fan leaf from each. More LST work done to both. Light adjusted to 585 PAR / 38 DLI. 11/5 Both have kicked into high gear. Flower is well underway and there has been a lot of stretching the past few days. No changes to light height or intensity, but with the stretch the top of the canopy now measures around 620 PAR / 40 DLI. Also removed all LST wires since at this point I think both are formed as well as they can be and I’ll let them go from here. Went ahead and trimmed the bottom leaves on each to start the lollipop process. I for sure overdid it with the nutes when mixing up the coco to start, obvious signs of slight N toxicity. Because of that I have been holding off on a feeding, but now I think with all the growth it’s good to get some new nutes in there. I’m taking it a touch light though and top dressing in 2 Tbsp of Gaia Green all purpose and 2 Tbsp of Gaia Green power bloom to each. Finally, each got ¼ gallon of distilled with a spoonful of molasses and just enough silica to get to 6.4 PH. 11/6 It was a bit soon to remove LST wires as both had straightened out a bit. Went ahead and redid LST all around. Clipped a few leaves off each again that weren’t doing much at the bottom. It’s another hot day and temps inside the tent have hit low 80s. Everything still looks great though. 11/7 Everything looks good but pots are light again. Mixed up 1 gallon of distilled with a spoonful of molasses, ½ tsp Epsom salt, and about 10 drops of silica to get to 6.5 PH. Each got 1/2 gallon of that. Latest PAR reading at canopy height is 635 PAR / 41 DLI. 11/8 Trimmed a few leaves and larf sites from both. Latest PAR reading at canopy height is 650 PAR / 42 DLI. 11/9 Pots were getting light again and leaves were a little droopy. Mixed up 1 gallon of distilled with ½ tsp of recharge and got the PH to 6.6 using PH down. Readjusted light to about 675 PAR / 43.75 DLI. Starting to see signs of yellowing in a few lower leaves. I delayed my first feeding due to too much N in the starting mix but maybe I should have stuck to the plan. Either way Gaia Green was added 4 days ago so in a few days hopefully they get fresh nutes. Defoliated some lower leaves and bud sites. 11/10 Another leaf on L is just starting to turn yellow. I did go easy on the nutes when I added them 5 days ago, so I figured adding in some guano might be a quicker fix without risking burning anything. I top dressed in 1 Tbsp of seabird guano and ½ tsp of bat guano to each. Took a little over ¼ gallon of distilled water, added in a pinch of recharge and got the PH to 6.7. Split that between both just to kind of get the guano working.

11/11 Both look very happy, leaves perked right up. Pots are light, but I’ll give them a dry day and water tomorrow. Tried to redo some LST, but the top is crazy hard to bend now and I’m not gonna force it. Top of the canopy after the latest stretch now measures 720 PAR / 46.6 DLI. 11/12 Pots are very light but the leaves look super happy. I do think that I probably have been going a bit heavy on the water and will need to calm that down in the future. Regardless I did mix up 1 gallon with ½ tsp of Epsom salt and a spoonful of molasses. Silica was added just to bring PH up to 6.6 and each got ½ gallon. 11/14 I fired up the humidifier on the outside of the tent near a vent. It’s been getting colder outside which means the heat is running more, which means lower RH inside. I’m using the VPD chart to kind of figure out how much to run it. L is starting to bulk up, but R seems to be lagging a bit. R for sure has more bud sites getting light and is more spread out and wider though, so maybe that’s just a tradeoff. 11/15 Did a little more defoliating on both to get lower growth cleared out. An interesting note is that R sems to be very red/purple in all the leaf stems and into the veins. Unsure if this means anything or not. Removed LST wires from both. Mixed up a gallon of distilled with a little over ¼ tsp of recharge. ½ tsp Epsom salt, and a spoonful of molasses. PH came out to 6.6 without adding anything else. 11/16 The purple in R is starting to spread pretty good. On top of that I see some yellowing that might seem to point to Mg deficiency, but I think is more a sign of a pH issue with my soil. I have a cheap soil tester and it does seem like it’s pointing to somewhere in the high 5s. Best I think I can do is top dress in 1.5 Tbsp of dolomite lime to both, followed by a small watering just to get it started. Mixed up a quarter gallon of distilled with a pH of 7.5 and gave most to R since that is the problem plant. The takeaway here is to not skip the dolomite lime in the soil premix like I did this run. Dumb mistake.

11/18 Yellowing/purple color continues to get worse. Soil pH being too acidic is the only thing that I probably dropped the ball on so I’m going with that being the issue. Not much else to do though after adding in dolomite lime. Went ahead and mixed up a gallon of distilled, pH 7.1, and mixed in 1 Tbsp of MykosWP. I just got that in the mail today so figured why not give it a shot. 11/19 Starting to see some leaves with the same issue on L now. Regardless of what the culprit is I’m probably looking at an accelerated timeline here so I’m going to do what could be the final feeding. Top dressed in 1 Tbsp Gaia Green AP, 2 Tbsp Power Bloom, and 1 Tbsp seabird guano to each. Reapplied LST wires to L. Light adjusted to 750 PAR / 48.6 DLI 11/20 Mixed up a little under a gallon of distilled with ¾ tsp recharge and ½ tsp Epsom salt. PH was 7.3. Split that between the two. 11/22 Whatever it is that’s going on is just getting worse. Multiple leaves now are yellow/purple and are getting crispy. Environment has been dialed in so it’s not that. I was a little heavy on nitrogen early on but that passed, so I don’t think it’s nutrients. I absolutely did overwater a few times and did not add in dolomite lime to my premix, which points to either soil pH issues or root rot. Very upsetting.

11/25 Both were very wilted in the PM, looked thirsty. Added a half gallon of recharge distilled to each. Significant yellowing on L, looks like nutrient deficiency but at this point I think I have lockout of some kind. Many more crispy leaves on both. It’s also obvious that growth has stopped for at least a few days now. Not good at all. 11/26 Chop down day. This was unexpected but with me leaving for a whole week tomorrow and their current condition I figured it best to end it now and just start over when I get back. Interesting observations though, even though I just watered yesterday the soil was mostly dry except for the top and some spots along the sides. For sure switching to watering half up top and half bottom. There also seemed to be a white residue coating the coco. I can’t verify now but I think Epsom salt in with the waterings was a bad idea. I’ll also probably leave out molasses and instead transition to brewing teas.

This grow started great, and quickly devolved into nutrient lockout with no new growth happening. Chopped them down much too early once I decided it was best to start over. I didn't bother getting a scale out, but both plants together likely gave me a little over an ounce. Pretty horrible yield but that was obviously my fault. All that said though, this is still fantastic weed. Wonderful daytime smoke with just enough body buzz to feel really good, and it can bring on some giggles and smiles. Absolutely redoing this one.

Haha, I’m reading your light schedule and adjustments back and forth. Laughing because that sounds like me. Constantly adjusting my lights. Optimization is what I call it. Your girls look great. I’m growing this strain on my next run, probably within a couple weeks. Saw your note about the temp, they should be good to get pretty cold. Another of my concerns. Good luck with your grow. Take care

@@StinkyBudz, the light schedule changes was me trying everything I could to keep the temperature stable during the night. It did get down to the low 60s for those few nights but not any lower thankfully. Almost kept them at full 24 hours even after I fixed the furnace but that schedule just seems too unnatural. The PAR changes are by design though. I'll be slowly turning up the intensity every few days until I finally hit about 700-800 or so. Really trying to emphasize slow and steady.

@@StinkyBudz, I haven't topped and likely won't for these 2. The plan is to eventually LST, lollipop, and do general defoliation once the time is right.

@nerdz, Thanks for that. Yeah I wish I could have let them go longer but they weren't doing hot. The weed I did get though is pretty great, which was shocking. I'll do the harvest report soon now that it's been curing for a few weeks.
