I’ve been training them horizontally and they’ve been growing super bushy with dozens of tops. I’ve cleaned them up properly now and will let them grow normally from here as they start to flower.

Should I keep defoliating as the plants grow? They're getting extremely bushy and I don't want that to be a problem with airflow and the like.

Hi @JemFinnaughty! With bushy plants, defoliation is highly advised, especially when flowering has begun, because bud-sites need the maximum light to properly develop and transform into fatty-sticky-smelly buds. However, remember that after 2-3 weeks of blooming, your plant won't produce new leaves anymore, so you should avoid to 'over-do' and just tuck the main fan leaves that are creating shades onto lower bud-sites. Hope this will help, keep us up-to-date and happy growing 👊

@BeefWellingtons, thanks! These ladies are coming along really nicely! I think I might even get close to 100g off of them, and if I had more space for them to spread they'd be MASSIVE!! I'm busy working on getting enough space for two uninhibited grows next year, that'll be good fun.

Getting fat, how are the tricomes looking?
JemGreen
JemGreencommented6 years ago
@BeefWellingtons, they're mostly cloudy, so I actually harvested 1/3 earlier (without a proper flush) and will be harvesting the rest in a few days once the amber trichomes start developing - to compare the difference.

@JemGreen how is that light sideways? Is it the housing or something holding it that way? I have 2 lights like those but they are on cords so they just hang down, trying to figure out how to put them sideways like that.
