So these seeds have sort of been off from the pop. Kind of knarly and slight tan tint to all Runtz when they cracked then cat induced stress. Stunted about a week, I think. Still very optimistic. This stuff recovers well if no damage is done to tap root or stem.
The cat 🐈 stepped on the remote and overheated these Runtz as well as the correctly named Burnt orange 🍊 🍪 cookies in the hydro.
One plant developed a celery stalk. Heat? Probable.
End of 3 weeks
What a difference a week makes. These girls have been vigorous and appear to be getting everything they need.
If anyone happens to look at this, Thanks to all for the help with my question. In the end I think I confused everyone. Thats why I need to become a dope smoking hermit. And Grannie... you can rest easy knowing that I didn't mean that I go by sight with the Nute measurements, I meant that I tend to go by how the plant looks and try to give her what she wants. I use the ratios recommended by company just in diluted amounts, especially in the early stages.
PPFD around 650
Just a light defoliation.
Watered every 3 or 4 days with light mixture of nutrients. I plan on switching to Lotus Nutrients for these 2 or possibly just 1 as experiment.
Don't know if I should top "fast" seeds.
Runtz (fast) in soil. These girls are preforming very well in Veg. Now we will check flower out.
Best looking plants in the tent (rooms)
Ginormous fan leaves. Very beautiful plants. I hope they stretch up nicely. I will allow me to gain a tiny bit of space so I can germinate seeds for my next grow. I am beginning a perpetual grow.
I know bunches of folks say don't defoliate during or right before flower. I don't know about this? Still experimenting. I did do some very light defoliation 3 days after flower cycle started. I will leaf pick throughout flower and in about 2 weeks then II will begin to isolate the bud sites I will try to flower and clean the plant up considerably. (If anyone gets this far and cares to comment I would like your thoughts on defoliation.)
These plants went into the Flower Cycle extremely healthy, Vegging like crazy.
One plant under DIY light and other under purchased light.
I am happy with the way these ladies are stretching. Growing with some length, I sort of like a stretchy plant.
I will begin backing off on Nitrogen and bumping up the Pot and Phos and trying to give a nice selection of micronutrients. Plants are loving the Lotus Nutrients. The one under the DIY light may be just a bit more gangly but at this point no real noticeable difference in the Plant under the PB4000 or the one under the DIY light. I feel like as I move further along in flower I will notice some differences.
Sort of cleaning up the plants one last time and then I will leaf pick until harvest in an attempt to stress the girls out as little as possible.
The lady under the DIY light still appears to be doing just a tad better than the one under the pro? ha light. Both look very nice and healthy, and the bud sites are beginning to turn on nicely.
I am feeding every 3rd day. Have no idea if the is standard but seems to work for me.
I have just about "leaf picked" all I need too until the very end of flower. These are considered "fast" seeds. We will, see? I still go by looks for harvest and use time as a guideline.
Some smell... not much and what I do get is just weed smell. Good but just weed smell.😁
These plants have been putting on some nice bud growth the last few days. I swear at times I think you can almost see them growing. Well... maybe that's just the last harvest talking. Anyhow, they are growing quite nicely.
Some fruity smell with a little fuel.
Started feeding at around 900 ppm will probably peak here and begin to decrease slowly until harvest. They are a beautiful deep green and appear to be thriving. I hope I can get them to harvest healthy.
Both plants are starting to shape up and allow for some effective grooming. I like the openness of this strain. It makes for less maintenance and LST. I did, however, very slightly pull some branches away from each other with some plant wire and metal folder clips, clipped to the top of the pot.
This plant along with a Ghost of NYC now have a new 6 x 6 home that will eventually be used as a flower room in a perpetual grow. Well almost "have" new home. I still have to get a light and ventilation. Thinking about EZ- 8 (Medic Grow) if you have read this far, do you have any thoughts?
These 2 chicks are smiling. Growin on schedule.
Beginning to show some deep purple 💜 in the leaves.
Good frost. Not a ton of smell.
Slowly backing off nutrients, especially nitrogen.
Seeing differences in DIY light vs factory. DIY is larger with longer node spacing. Factory light is making a shorter bushy plant wit more compact node spacing.
Buds are getting heavy.
Started new run today.
They are beginning to show purple. Especially on the undersides of the upper leaves. Great smells from the tent.
I think these girls are healthy and going to produce some nice smoke.
Some leaf picking. Just not doing much but trying to keep them healthy.
Noticeable size difference in the 2 lights being used.
Humbodlt seeds are rocking. DIY light and Factory light? I can see a difference in the two. Hard to give an edge to either. One (DIY) is my favorite but I love an Underdog! Not real scientific comparison but like I said there is a difference. My guess though is that if both make harvest that the final weight is about the same.😍
Nice colors, some purple hues and just an overall darkening of the leaves.😛
The smell is sort of dank fruit or berries. Not bright and fresh but sort of a heavy smell, if that makes any sense?
I will continue to decrease Nutrients until harvest which I hope is about 30 days from now. These might come off a little earlier. If I take more than 10 leaves off either plant between now and harvest or actually week before, I will be surprised. The Giant fan leaves will be the first to go. 😛
Fingers crossed.👍
Whoa... I'm getting excited. Wow, these ladies are getting close and looking very happy. I can't wait. These plants are filling up with trichomes. beginning to look like someone is sprinkling sugar all over the dark purple leaves.
Smells of overripe fruit. Some browning of larger fan leaves beginning. I think they are about 3 weeks out.
Slowing on water and Nutrients. Going to cut back all together as I get closer to the finish line. DIY plant is the better plant. Or should I say the one that I prefer so far. I'm not sure what this really means, other than you can grow a really nice plant under 9 regular 100w led bulbs. Who knew?
Nothing but Lotus Nutrients on both of theses plants. Just like recommended feeding schedule with the addition of small amounts of Epsom salts and cal-mag.
These 2 specimens just make me giggle like a little girl. I am very excited. Thank you, Humboldt. They are very beautiful plants. The DIY light is my favorite. Go figure.
Great berry sort of arm pit smell.
I kid you not... these girls look like someone poured raw sugar on a chalkboard. These trichomes just continue to stack up. The branches are pushing outward and starting to sag because of the bud growth. Still drinking a large amount of water. The girls are getting closer are closer to the finish line. On cruise control just water and backing off nutrients.
Temps are soaring here. In the mid 80's in the middle of February. I am going to try a small window a/c in the adjacent room. If I don't get a handle on my environment, warm weather grows will become very challenging.
The grow has been sort of non-descript this past week. Buds are gaining ever so slightly. I think both of these plans are done. I have checked trichomes and most are milky. I will give just water for the last couple of days of the upcoming week and then I plan on harvesting. I am very excited.
Very pretty hues of purple from deep, almost black, to a light violet and if you look from under to up it looks like an "old fashion" black light color.
Wow... always fun to reach the end. Finally made it with these girls. I am writing at the end of the week although my data reflects what happened last week. Harvest day was Day 134.
Zero nutrients for the last 4 days. Just ph'd water.
Some leaves had begun drying up. Pretty much stayed purple dominant not many other colors. Smell is not overpowering but sort or fruity, gas, sweet smell. These plants wound up being covered in trichomes top and bottom of leaves. Very sticky.
Not sure THC levels and will probably never really know. But I think they will be high and a pleasure to smoke. I can't wait.
As a side note... the cheap ass homemade light plant was bigger and prettier, but she may have just naturally been the better specimen. Again, this light was 9 100w Walmart leds with the diffusers snapped off. Don't think you have to spend tons to grow some nice weed. In a couple of weeks I will put some more seeds in the oven and get started on the next round. I have vegging plants at 7 weeks now.
Thanks to everyone who checked me out. I appreciate your interest. I'm just a beginner with Cannabis and I learn every week. I do and will always appreciate any comments or advice that you have. Thanks again. See you on the next one growmies! Peace!
I experimented with lights while I was in transition of purchasing another light. So, these 2 plants were grown and flowered under 2 different lights. Results were basically the same with the DIY light having a little longer node separation. Bunches of beautiful purple flower with heavy, sticky trikes. Grew easy, fun to watch. Not real smelly. Sort of a "dank berry" smell.
I will grow this again if I can snare some Humboldt Seeds. All said and done, I think this is a great Cultivar. (nice plant) I have put in jars, No Smokie Yet. 😎😏
