Hey yall! Thanks for tuning in this week. Had a great look under the microscope of my soil, I just ordered a camera for my scope so next week look forward to seeing and identifying some beneficial microbiology! Another round of compost tea, I added Kiwi 🥝 😋 Fermented Juice, to this round of tea. Also adding food for the bacteria (simple sugars) and for the fungi (complex carbs). I suggest using diverse food for increased biodiversity. The mycelium network is really established at this point. Which is why I highly recommend to keep reusing your soil, and the larger the pot size the better. I am in 10 gallons for now. Once I move into our house will be into living beds, 100 gallon + If you can't be in a bed, use 25 gallon. You will benefit in time. So at this point only using inputs I have made from organically grown plants, mostly grown in house. Anything else was wildcrafted, sustainably, so if I take something from nature I am replacing it with something else. Balance in all things. Added the fruit for pushing the flowers. Pistol hairs are growing. This strain is a sativa dominant, and thus my flowers are not as compact and "looser" than indica dominant strains I have always grown. Review on this sativa dominant cultivar is: harder to grow than most strains, longer flowering time is also a pain while increasing my costs with more days with the lights on. Getting COAs on the finished flowers and I will post on here, I am hoping for higher levels of THCv, let's get into the rare cannabinoids and higher terpenes!

What do yall think of my diary? All homemade inputs, I invest literally less than 20 bucks in my inputs in the entire grow. I want to prove to you all that you do not need to drop money on bottled nutes, remember bottles are for babies. Challenge me? Just look at my diary

Growing organically in living soil is the only way I grow. Props on your use of ferment teas. KNF and JADAM are great methods and should be checked out by a lot of other growers. The proof is in the pudding on that topic and there's a Lot of science based pudding on it out there and available. Keep it up!

12/17/2022 Edit: Watering Volume was at 250mL/day, was trying to achieve 70 to 80 percent of the soil's Field Capacity.. look up soil field capacity, good thing to know. I do like the Blumats but again saving money this run. Goals for next run to have the Blumats for the most accurate
TheFattyMcCoy
TheFattyMcCoycommented2 years ago
@PapaNugs, Hey! Yes there is great info on how the Blumats can dial in your game, allowing for increased yields. It definitely is another tool for the tool box. On Amazon they sell the Blumat kit for 100 bucks and that works for up to 12 plants, which is way more than I need so I do think it is affordable. It gives us another quantity to analyze, I think if used properly and you do the legwork to max them out, if can pay off. Maybe save up for it and get a small system, try a side by side and see if they work with your unique environment.

@TheFattyMcCoy, how do you like the Blumats? I've be thinking of getting an auto watering system

The only problem with reusing soil is bugs. Never had a bug issue until I started doing that

Thanks for the update. Two questions. The first is about your nutrients. Do you mix up a load and use it over a few days or only mix what you need that day? Second is Oriental Herbal Nutrient related. I’ve made enough OHN for a few years worth but I’ve no idea about how useful it will be and how to use with cannabis. Any thoughts on that would be much appreciated.

@Indicate, Love that raw seaweed! Just bring a 5 gallon bucket with lid, might even help to have the sugar with you, and mix right on the beach, the sugar should help with the smell and start the fermentation process. Throw in a little LAB if you have some will help immense with the smell and speed up the process. I think Dr. Cho recommends to add a little LAB to FPJ or FFJ. Yes and vinegar is your friend too, you can replace the Brown Rice Vinegar with your vinegar. And save up egg shells, rinse and bake them at like 220 for a couple hours until they are slightly brown. Then add a little of the browned egg shells to a glass jar, add vinegar to 3/4 full, cover with paper towel and rubber band. Then sit back and watch the show! You will literally see the egg shells start to bubble as the calcium is extracted and made water soluble. It is really fun to watch, I bet the kiddos would appreciate the project too! Have a safe trip, hope you can find some fish for a batch of FAA 😉 that one takes about 6 months to a year to finish. Will upload a picture of my fish bucket

@TheFattyMcCoy, Thanks very much for the info. I didn’t realise y FFJ turns to vinegar if not in the fridge. The garage has been at fridge temperature for the last three months anyway so might be ok. Heading to the coast this week so will stack up on seawater and seaweed. Small car and 6 hour drive….family are going to love me. Have a good one and thanks again.

@Indicate, There are a few mixtures you can keep shelfstable like Maintenance Solution, which is Fermented Plant Juice, Brown Rice Vinegar and OHN. That is a good daily for the plant, great for soaking the seed for germination too. Any ferments I make I strain the juice, label with date and keep in the fridge. Any FPJs I make and keep at room temperature will turn to a nice Vinegar if not refrigerated, which is great for getting water soluble calcium from egg shells. Yes that OHN just gets stronger each year, it is the medicine for everything from plants to us, I take some if I ever feel sick. The OHN really suppresses the bad bacteria and potential pathogens and only the strong can survive OHN so the best fungal and bacterial strains will make it through. That really applies when making Fermented Sea Water, and compost tea to help kill the bad guys when we create these environments for microbes to thrive it is easy for a bad guy to dominate, the OHN helps prevent that mostly. I say go very low in dosing it to your plants, 0.5mL, maybe just like a few drops even to start diluted per gallon. I mix it in when I am making my compost tea so it makes it on the leaves and the soil at least twice a week for me. Just dilute dilute, it's very homeopathic so a little goes a long way. I like to use OHN with a food like FPJ or (FFJ in flowering) and also the brown rice Vinegar for balance. I also never would use an FPJ by itself. I try to use up everything after mixing and diluting with water, I have a lot of other house plants I will use the excess on. Thank you for asking ❤️

Wicked diary m8. You have inspired me to start doing my own fertiliser soon! Can I ask do you ever use neem and karanja oil for soil soaking to help rid gnats and other bad bugs? Or would that kill the mycelium?
