1/14 It’s getting colder at night and last night I noticed my temps in the middle of the night dropped to about 62. Fortunately I have a space heater and plugged that in until morning when the lights came back on, but I’m going to start slowly transitioning to a 24 hour light schedule to combat that. For now I have upped it to 21/3 which gives a new DLI of 30.2. I had some leftover silica water from another grow so each got a small shot, maybe ¼ gallon each. I also did more LST and defoliation.
1/15 Pretty sure I’m still seeing signs of light stress. Pretty wild, considering I’ve been lowering the light intensity far below what I thought would be ideal. I adjusted the light again now to 380 PAR / 28.7 DLI. At this point I’m convinced that my PAR meter is just wildly wrong. I’ll still use it to ballpark what’s going on, but I have to assume what numbers I’m getting are much lower than they really are.
1/16 The stretch has finally kicked in for the Wedding. SS is still stretching too, and it still looks like there’s some signs of light stress going on. I lowered the dimmer on the light by a smidge hoping that this finally keeps things ok. Very odd to be continuously lowering the light intensity in flower instead of increasing it. Both got a good amount of recharge water today.
1/17 Amazingly the SS was already almost dry and needed more water. The wedding was drying up as well but not as bad. Decided to do a small top dressing of 2 Tbsp seabird guano and about 2 tsp of bat guano. Figured that’d act as sort of a bloom booster. SS got around a gallon of water and about ¾ gallon for Wedding. Readjusted my light to a 20/4 light schedule and 415 PAR / 29.88 DLI. I’ll need to have the space heater on at night regardless so no point doing anything crazy with the schedule.
1/18 Big defoliation day. Both are now much airier and have less larf sites. The Sour Stomper just keeps stretching. With my light up as far as I can get it it’s still only about 16 inches away from canopy height. Both have a decent amount of water in them so I’ll probably look to water again tomorrow.
1/20 Watered both today with silica water, pH about 6.8. Also top dressed in 4 Tbsp of just Gaia Green Power Bloom. That should take them until chop down day. Still getting faint signs of light burn which at this point is just mind blowing. The SF2000 is as high up as I can get it without doing some mods and is at about 65% on the dimmer. I lowered it down to 60% and I assume that’s where it will stay. Clearly my PAR meter is junk or there’s some other reason why I can’t increase the light intensity to where it should be.
Do you have a PAR map from the manufacturer that you can compare to the readings you are getting? Would help you know if meter is bad before spending cash on a new one.
They're looking pretty darn good!
@Grow_for_Happiness, Thanks for that! That's a really good idea that I hadn't thought of, but looking at the website it only gives numbers at 100% power in a 4x2 tent. I don't think that will help me a bunch right now in a 3x2 at some mid range power level. But something in the chain is definitely wrong. Either the Sour Stomper is SUPER sensitive light (which I didn't think was the case), my PAR meter is giving me inaccurate information, or the DLI chart that pops right up after a google search and plenty of people have recommended to me is off (at least for my particular situation). Either way I'll keep light levels a lot lower than what I was going to be using and see how things go.
