Last week was pretty stable. The buds are steadily fattening up, just how we like it. They all got burned leave tips, I think it has to do with too little runoff, because I’m using GHE’s flora hydro schedule on exactly half strength. Its not getting worse over the last days so its probably not a big deal.
Like I said last week, I have a dehumidifier now. I got it hooked up to one of the air holes on the bottom. My sonoff temperature and humidity sensor checks when it goes over 65% rh, and fires on the dehumidifier whenever needed to blow difrectly in the tent. I do wonder if I could save on electricity to get a stronger exhaust fan. Because the humidity outside the tent is low enough, so more air circulation could fix the humidity issue without actively dehumidifying I think.
I’ve been eyeing on the Apogee SQ-102 PAR meter. Its not perfect for led light but it does give a pretty good idea about the amount of light hitting the plants. I’d like to get a better idea of the optimal distance between plants and light. Especially since i ran into loads of light burn issues in this grow and past grows.
Hey @Tonino, the growdiaries android app is so buggy.. it completely mixed up the values I entered. I gave 5ml/gal micro, 5ml/gal grow, 2.5ml/gal bloom over the last 2 weeks. Makes a lot more sense huh? :D (I think you had the same bug a couple weeks ago where the values mixed up, strange)
What's the night time temperature? What's the EC value of your run-off? What's the EC value of your feeding water? Where does the fresh air come from? Where does your air exhaust goes to? Do you have fans inside to move the air around and also strengthen your ladies?
- light temp around 18 degrees celcius at night last days- will check ec of runoff tomorrow again- ppm of feeding water is around 800 total- exhaust goes out on top through exhaust fan. no windows open these days, its too cold for that- i have a small fan inside as well to keep plants moving a bit and circulate air even more
@Tonino, I can imagine! The fans I can find are all temperature controlled, and not humidity controlled. Temperature is not an issue so I will need to look into this.
Looks like in the past few weeks they were showing a Nitrogen deficiency. Then it also looked like you pounded them with way too much nutrients, and the wrong nutrients. Then you flushed and now they are showing over watering symptoms. I think this week is probably the only week you gave them close to correct nutrients, however usually you don't want to give nutrients as part of or directly after a flush. Either way, the amounts posted are good imo. I would get a heater in that room with them, 18c is ok for cannabis, but its really on the cold end. You should try to get it to low of 20c, and bring up the high to 25c, if you can. Wait it out and see how it goes, good luck with your grow!
@GeorgeMaas, you could be right. I look up 'cannabis deficiency chart' and then look at images. Could be a lot of things. Usually is a main NPK as most nutrient regimes include the other lesser nutes, but sometimes not.
Also, try using the website for your updates, I found it easier than the app, http://growdiaries.com.
Hi @BeefWellingtons! thanks a lot for thinking with me! The growdiaries android app is so buggy.. it completely mixed up the values I entered. I gave 5ml/gal micro, 5ml/gal grow, 2.5ml/gal bloom over the last 2 weeks. I flushed right before the pictures and they indeed were impacted by it, but only for 12 hours max fortunately.
You think it is/was a Nitrogen deficiency? I also thought of Potassium. I think the root of all the issues is that I was overdosing my tiny cuttings with cal mag supplement. I should've flushed them earlier, thats a learning for sure :)
wow there doing great couple of questions for you first how old was the mother plant wen you did your cutting ? what rooting gel or hormones did you use on the cutting ?
@GeorgeMaas,thanks a lot for all the great info ,and I know what you mean about PH problems got tired of bad meters and got my self a Christmas present early the BLUE LAB METERS ph and EC so I am set now 😊
@Tonino, to start with your last question; I used Pokon root powder before I placed them in eazy plugs. These plugs have a ph of 5.8 and are fertilized. Eazyplug even claims that rooting gel or powder is not needed when using their plugs. 10/10 rooted so they do something right :) I also used a cheap heating mat, especially for at night to keep around 23/24 degrees Celcius (73/75 F)
The clones were taken from a motherplant who was around 4,5 months old. I had 8 Dinamed seeds and 8 white widow. All white widow seeds died withing 1,5 week. The Dinamed survided but had an awful time. Turned out my PH meter was totally off and I prolly fed them ph 5 in soil... they were extremely weak the whole time and I got spidermites, Battled another month. Just didn't want to give up another 80 euros of seeds hehe.
At the end I cut 10 clones and cut down all plants and completely cleaned the growspace. Lesson learned haha.
its in the newer ones, so thought maybe potassium deficiency or something, but you think its mag/ I'm also seeing some new tiny leaves that look morphed, will add a photo now.
@CBD_Sweden, haha nice! Thanks! I looked through your diaries, whats your favorite cbd strain to grow so far?
Also, water curing?? Haha wow that sounds crazy :)
(RE: Week 12) My friend, you don't need a $350 PAR meter to grow some plants. It's more dollars than you are using watts! I've thought about getting one because it would be nice to "dial in", and it is a nice tool for testing future lights. But you just don't need it to succeed. I'd hate to see you waste that money.
You mentioned light burn but you kept your 180W led lamp 60 cm away. I honestly don't see it happening at that distance.
If your canopy was really light burned, why is there such healhy leaves in week 12? If they were light burned there would be all sorts of messed up things going on. Like the tops would be bleacher or the rate of photosynthesis is too high causing nutrient problems, leaves taco-ing. I light burned my current grow and you can clearly see the effect of the lamp's hotspot.
You started with clones for the first time. I've read journals from master growers who are entertained when people mock their yellow and unhealthy clones, because they know they'll end up great (and they do). I don't clone this plant, so my experience is limited to others,,, they can look weird or deficient after cloning because they just were amputated and are only focused on rooting. Maybe 5.5-5.8 PH is on the low side for magnesium and calcium uptake, I'm not sure... I think most soil growers aim for 6.0-6.6
Anyway all I see in week 12 is great healthy plant on high nitrogen with some tip burn ... just wanted to chime in and try and save you the money

That is my light burn.. notice the difference between the burned part and the non burned part of the canopy
Nice job on the topping mate but we need to get the plants looking more healthy.
To me it looks like they are underfed and hungry. I think it is time to increase feed available to the ladies 👊
Good luck buddy. So far looking good 👌
All the best
Mark..
