I'm very happy with the growth and with the yield of 57 grams. But I'm a bit disappointed by the quality. There is almost no smell and very little taste. The effect is nice, but not very strong. Good balance of head high and body high. Might be caused by the very high temperatures during growth and drying. Also I prefer the body effect, so harvest might have been too early. At least with the other two plants I will be able to compare this. Density of the buds is quite airy. So overall this is 7/10 for me.

Grow Questions

Judging from the general appearance, are they ready for harvest? Trichomes will not turn amber at all. NL is at day 98 now, the WW at day 100. Or are my eyes really that bad already? On the other hand I'm sure I correctly did spot amber trichomes on already harvested NL#1. Thanks

Hello ! At that point you can cut if you don't really want amber trichomes as they should have produce a lot of them already. But if you'r looking at the trichomes without a magnifier or a loupe then you will never now your true trichomes maturation ratio. Hope it will help you 😁👍

Week 16 is beginning and I'm still waiting for more trichomes to turn amber. The top buds of both plants feel hard as rocks meanwhile. But at the same time, they do no longer feel sticky or oily. Is this normal or did I mess up by waiting too long?

Are the trichomes all milky white? Or do you still see clear trichomes? If milky white, you are safe to harvest at will. It will be more of an energetic high, than a couch lock high - but I prefer that personally. You can continue to wait another week or two also if you prefer to wait for amber. Its really up to you. The pics are beautiful by the way, well done! 👍

Not really a grow question, but since here are the experts: What do you recommend for long term storage? Can I leave the buds in jars for months or even years or should I put them into the freezer?

Hello Buddha! Your biggest enemies for year preservation is the oxygen, the humidity and the heat. In other words you want to create an anhydrous oxygen free atmosphere for your weed. Here is how i would do it. Place your weed and a silica jel pack in a jar and also put in the jar a chunk of dry ice and close the lid loosely so a little bit of co2 from the dry ice can escape. When a decent amount of dry ice will sublime and you can see a fog in the jar that means that most of the air with oxygen and moister has pushed out of the jar but don't close the jar yet because you may create a bomb of compressed co2 😎. Wait until the chunk of dry ice has gotten small and you can still see some fog. Seal the jar and put it in the freezer ( by this way you also creating a little bit higher pressure which lowers the boiling point of terpenes and drops their evaporation rate ) . By this way you can create the best conditions for long preservation. After this point it all depends form how tight seal the jar has! Happy growing ! 👊

Buddha says: We do not want to use any nutrients or fertilizers; this is for experienced masters only. " I would say its the opposite.. everyone can open a fertilzer bottle . Only very Good Growers ( like you) can do such an amazing grow with only sun and water and some compost ... very well done congratulations. additional----- you gave her the most undersetaminate ingredient:::: LOVE:::: and she gave it grateful in a big yield back to you

@Mrs_Larimar, lol 😀 If being a good grower means doing nothing but let the plants simply grow, then yes. We did nothing but removing leaves (especially the Nothern Lights had millions of leaves; I started taking photos only in week 9 as I wanted to check the trichomes). But you are right regarding love. We will be using even more of it in the next grow. Thanks! 😍

Well in fact I do want amber trichomes :) I'm checking daily with some smartphone camera, which turned out to work fine in the past. Maybe I really need to get a loupe or microscope. Maybe it was just wishful thinking with the other NL as I think the plants are already overdue. Thanks a lot!

@CRiSPrGrow, Ah, that could be an explanation! However I noticed that when the first picture is purple, all the other ones from the same session also get this color. So maybe it depends on the "first impression" the camera gets. Anyway, at least now I know why all my experimenting (flash on, off and so on) did never lead to a consistent result 😏

@HighTV, Thanks a lot! We still have the five bagseed plants in the tent that we want to finish 😶 Also we harvested more than DOUBLE what we would have hoped for, so there is absolutely no need to hurry.

@CRiSPrGrow, thanks a lot! Literally everything in this first grow has exceeded my wildest expectations. Yesterday I tested some of the first harvest after about 4 weeks cure and it was simply great. Will come up with a more detailed report once everything is harvested and cured.

Buddhacommented6 years ago
@PharmaZ, Thanks! I'm also surprised it went so much better than I would have hoped. But to be honest: It is mostly the merit of my wife; I was only responsible for getting the equipment and the seeds. If I had have to do the watering or defoliation, the plants probably would not have survived a single week 😌
