PINEAPPLE CHUNK Hey!! I’m back with another lovely strain. Had a break over the holiday season, and I’m sooooo happy to be back 💚 After seeing the babies stretch a little in the propagator, I got them directly under the light by taking the lid off, then set my humidifier up and also turned my oscillating fan on (lowest setting) to toughen the stems up a bit before their leaves start weighing them down!! Haven’t needed to add much moisture to the pots, hopefully it hasn’t been too wet in there. Going to transplant them straight from here into my 15 gallon living soil pots! 🥦🌱👍 the cover crop came through amazingly. So thick and green! After it grew to about 6 inches in length, I chopped and dropped it onto the mulch, and will get the babies in there soon! This “germination week” has been more like 2 weeks, so there’s a lot to cram in here! Hope to be more active from now on 🌿More info on what I’ve done below SAT 7TH JAN: DAY 0 - 16:30 - SEEDS WET - 20:30 - INTO PAPER TOWELS & INTRODUCED TO MICROBES (JIFFYS SOAKING IN BIOSYS) SUN 8TH JAN: DAY 1 - 22:00 - INTO JIFFYS MON 9TH: DAY 2 - 10:00 - SEED HEADS OFF (3/3) FRI 13TH: DAY 6 - 19:00 - PROPAGATOR LID OFF SAT 14TH: DAY 7 - 15:30 - FILLED 56L POTS WITH LIVING SOIL, WORMS, DUSTED A FEW HANDFULS OF MALTED BARLEY POWDER, AND HEMP MULCH. VEG WEEK 1: THURS 26TH - THURS 2ND SUN 29TH - DAY 22: Girls were drooping in their little pots after a couple days without a visit, so I watered them with the intention of transplanting the next day. MON 30TH - DAY 23: All 3 saw some serious improvements since getting a drink, so I chose 2 to transplant, and watered them in with ~1.5L biosys microbial tea per plant. TUES 31ST - DAY 24: Settling into their new homes really well, I dusted a small amount of Charge into each pot before watering it in with ~1L water mixed with yucca powder per pot WED 1ST - DAY 25 Watered with regular dechlorinated water + yucca powder Good week overall! They are settling into their forever homes nicely, and it seems like the life in my soil is thriving!! Mycelium is everywhere 🤩🌿🍄 Seen a few bugs too, so I’m going to get on with some IPM research! Seeing my babies droop at the start of the week definitely kicked my butt into gear, just want to give them a happy life! The Blumat tensiometer seems to be working just fine too. Don’t worry about the 3rd plant who didn’t make the cut, she went to a good home! See you next week everybody ✌️💚

PINEAPPLE CHUNK 🍍 Hi again! The plants have made great progress since last week, this living soil doesn’t mess about that’s for sure. I have found some spider mites, however, which is a bit of a kick in the teeth. Not sure where they came from, but I’m currently trying to use what’s available to me (neem oil + Dr. Bronner’s soap sprayed everywhere once a week pretty much). Will post a question on here and see what people recommend. Other than that, the plants really do look happy! Topped them on Wednesday, leaving 4 growth tips on each this time, instead of my usual 2 per plant. The blumat still seems to be doing it’s job, staying at around 50-100 millibar, so as long as it’s telling me the truth everything is good! Watering slowly with the pressure sprayer is nice and therapeutic, it’s great. Will get the soft ties on in the next few days. Time for LST my friends! ☄️💚🍀

WEEK 3: THURS 9TH - THURS 16TH (day 33-40) Hey everyone! It’s been a stressful week here. Been having to take care of some spider mites I’ve been finding in my pre-mixed soil. Nothing on the plants yet luckily. At first, I thought my mix of soap, neem oil and peppermint oil would be enough. However, after deciding it’s a whole infestation, I brought out the big guns. A bottle of Plant Vitality Plus, which is supposed to be incredibly potent. I was hesitant to use it but it’s a ‘final solution’ situation. 25ml per litre, sprayed everywhere. After 24 hours, mite sightings are much less frequent, so I’ll give everything another spray in a few days. Other than this, the girls are looking super healthy! Recovered with gusto from their toppings, and have a really nice colour on them. Tied them down a little, and tucked a couple leaves to expose some lower bud sites to the light. Still just using water & yucca powder, and biosys tea once a week! See you next week 🍀🍍😁🌿

WEEK 4: THURS 16TH - THURS 23RD (day 40-47) PINEAPPLE CHUNK 🍍🍀 is back for another week! The girls are making good progress. I had to install a trellis net, as the soft ties I normally use for LST won’t create a strong enough pull with these fabric pots. Also, I accidentally snapped a stem whilst training!! You can see how she’s recovering in the very last pic this week. Unfortunately can’t tie her down for a few days but she still looks very healthy. At the start of the week, I went to a DIY store and got some plastic 50cm2 grids that fit really nicely under the pots. Gives them and the soil some extra airflow, as my heater is also on the tent floor so it probably gets quite sweaty down there. Update on bugs: even after a lot of research, I keep changing my mind about whether they are spider mites or not. They’re only in the top couple centimetres of soil, don’t seem to have any interest in the plant, and don’t have a bright red or two spotted body. They’re beige/orange, and have two long antennae. Will keep spraying with neem oil and soap just in case!!! Overall, a stressful week, but that’s what it’s all about! Overcoming problems is an important part of learning. So hopefully this teaches me some stuff. Have a great week everyone!! 🥦🌿💚

Final week of veg, guys and girls! The plants are starting to show their characteristics and differences, which is lovely to witness! It will soon be time to set up a 2nd layer of netting for support! They’ll be getting tall soon. Timer has been officially set to 12/12, very exciting times!! Just need to set up the dehumidifier now. Altogether an exciting and fun week. 💚 Done some top dressings this week. Worm castings and Living Soil’s ‘REAPER’ bloom amendment. At some point I realised I used twice as much diatomaceous earth as I meant to last week, so I hope that doesn’t fuck me over!! They’re gonna start drinking lots soon. Currently they’re having 2.5L each every 2/3 days, which works for me because of my 5L sprayer. If I need to start filling it twice then so be it!! Mushrooms keep appearing and I love it! My mulch layer is matted with mycelium I can barely break through it. Incredible. See you next week guys, hopefully with some pistils coming through!!! 💚🍍

This is it people!!! 🍍🌺 The first week of flower. Not much action this week, other than some pistils slowly coming through and some modest growth. Really stoked to see their flowers, as these girls are my first in living soil! New growth is a slightly lighter green, hopefully this is just because they’re growing so quickly! Held back with the end-of-veg defoliation, which I don’t usually do, but I’ve got good airflow and anything I change my mind about I can always remove on day F21. The girls are getting more thirsty by the week! Had to start giving them each a full 5L sprayer every 2 days. Plugged the dehumidifier in too. I’m keeping my light on 75%, 16” above the canopy. I think I’ll keep it like this unless I see slow growth or praying. I think that’s everything! I’m unbelievably excited for these ones. The amazing feeling of growing hasn’t diminished even a little bit and I’ve been doing this over 18 months. Knowing what I’m like, that makes me so happy! See you next week guys 💚🌿

Week F2! 🍍🌺 these girls are looking really happy. I’m definitely making the most of my beginner’s luck with living soil! I genuinely thought I’d run into more issues but they are doing great and aren’t stretching too fast which is a real blessing, as my tent has height limitations. Pistils are coming through strong, not extra long but there’s a lot of them and the tip of each cola is getting nice and dense. I’ve given into my urges and have been defoliating before the end of week F3/stretch. I see it as an experiment though! I ended up removing more than I thought, and I forgot how fun defoliating can be with big plants 🤣 they were simply getting too bushy and leafy for some of the flowers to have a proper chance, so I did my best to ensure each ‘bud’ has some space. One of the plant’s pistils are showing a lovely purple tint, so I’m super excited to monitor how they develop. The other plant has these lovely thick colas, so each is shining bright in their own way. At the end of this week, I top dressed with some of my REAPER amendment, and will do again at the end of week F4. That’s all, I think! Growing makes me so happy, and I’m so glad I get to share my experience with you all. Friends are highly underrated! 💚

Sup growmies! This post marks the end of week F3 🍃 and I think the girls have just about finished stretching. Luckily they stayed relatively short so there won’t need to be any supercropping or light dimming this run. Just letting my babies sunbathe until they’re nice and ripe 🤩 leaves on one plant are praying a little but she seems happy so I think I’ll leave her be for a few days before raising the light ever so slightly. Flowers are maturing wonderfully!! Pistils on each plant are vigorous and plentiful, and the trichomes around them are multiplying like crazy! 🌨️ comparing them with my past grows, it seems these girls are on track to being done slightly earlier, or they’ll be done after 8 weeks just as normal but with some HUGE flowers. Can’t wait to see which it is! I’ve grown to appreciate my soil mites. Annoying as they are, they want to be my friend. I tried to calm their numbers down, but it seems that their population is strong. Zero problems on the plants yet so hopefully they can continue working hard for me! As much as I’d absolutely love an unlimited space to grow; being limited has forced me to learn some really efficient training and growing techniques out of necessity. Growing enough medication for myself is super important, as just like a lot of you on here, I would be spending a LOT on herb every month just to get by if I didn’t have this. Thanks for listening, guys, love you all and I’ll see you next week! Peace out ✌️🥦

Hey everyone! 🥦 So we’re into the depths of flower now. They’ve done all their stretching, and now the full focus is on developing those amazing buds. I can see the potential in these girls, I just need to make sure I keep the environment dialled in and stay consistent with waterings. I don’t have many other responsibilities in all honesty so hopefully I can keep them happy! Leaves, stems and buds are all showing signs of healthy growth 🍃

I’m a happy dude right now. The girls are honestly doing great! While both are super dense, the one on the right side of the tent is producing bigger buds, and the one on the left has got absolutely loads of smaller buds, and they are seriously stinky. Like, crazy sweet and pineappley. It’s so pleasantly unique. Seeing some fading on the bigger fan leaves, a little earlier than I’m used to but honestly I’m so excited to see their autumn colours. Will give them their final top-dressing of my REAPER bloom amendment on Thursday, which makes me think about how much money I’ve saved on nutes this cycle. Yes, there were costs to start my organic living soil journey, but the running costs are so low I can’t be mad. And, I’m using less water! AND, I only have to water my girls every other day instead of the 3 times/day I was doing in Coco, which means I can have a life! Will have to start thinking about getting some more seeds on soon! I have a 2x2 tent I’m not using, but I only have one closet and limited control on my environment so I must figure out where I’ll put my new babies for their first few weeks without compromising the ripening/drying conditions of these Pineapple Chunk plants. I’m sure I’ll think of something! I’m so grateful for this platform, and for everyone on it. With my memory and organisational skills, GrowDiaries saves my ass by doing so much of the work for me. All I need to focus on is growing and taking pics 🤣✌️ love you all! Have a great week 💚🍃

I love this time of the week, when I sit down and think about what to write here. It reminds me of how simple this organic living soil method is. There’s really not much to say!! The girls are doing great, the leaves have a slightly yellow hue, but the plants will get their final top dress today (day 103, F43) and should be done 2-3 weeks from now. So excited!!! My little population of hypoaspis mites seems to get out of hand. I’ll admit, it scares me and I can get quite hostile with them. I’ve made my peace with them for now though! I’m sorry little guys 💔 The smells are so intense. Reminds me of those pineapple cheese sticks at parties. Absolute stank city, I can’t wait to smell them post-cure 😎 See you next week growmies! These buds are already fat, God knows what they’ll be like when I chop 😍😍🍃🍍

F7: THURS 20TH APR - 27TH (DAY 103-110) F43-50 Getting close now!!! Pretty confident that the harvest window will be between the end of weeks 8 and 9. The buds are bulky and dense, so I need to keep an eye on humidity in the tent. Luckily, my AC Infinity controller is a useful companion for when I can’t be here. So proud of these plants. My first ones in living soil, and I definitely won’t be changing back. I really love feeling closer to the Earth, and the plants seem to prefer the organic way of life. The smells are incredible too ;) Growing is such a thrill! Not much to update on, other than the fact that the trichomes are mostly cloudy, and that the girls seem to be enjoying their final days ripening! Oh, and I turned my light down to 75% to ease off the accelerator a bit. Thanks for reading! See you next week peeps, peace! 💚🍃🌺

Hello again! The final days are upon us, and the girls are finishing up slowly but surely. The plant on the right seems to be foxtailing slightly, and I did find a single nanner on the left plant. Not ideal, but my last plant had some micro-seeds and still smoked absolutely wonderfully despite a few crackles and pops. To combat these signs, I raised my light a few inches and turned it down to 75%. This also helped lower my temps, but raised the humidity ever so slightly. Tent never goes over 55% or 77f though. Will chop them before the end of week 9, and dry them in the 2x4 before dry trimming for the first time. Me and the mrs are so excited to smoke these girls, the Blueberry OG ran out too long ago haha. See you next week people!!! (Well actually tomorrow seeing as I’m almost a week late posting this - oops!!)

Sup Growmies 😎 this will be the final non-harvest week I post. I’m gonna chop tomorrow or Saturday, and take the pots out to re-amend. I’m so proud of myself for taking the leap to living soil! This has been a really fun run, but the work isn’t over yet! However, it’s time to start thinking about my next plants! I have some bio-bizz light mix on its way, it should come tomorrow, so I’ll get my seeds out of the fridge tonight. They are Barney’s Runtz x Layer Cake, and look like they could be the best genetics I’ve run yet. Let’s hope I can channel their potential! Back to the Pineapple Chunk; I’m so happy with their bud structures. One is smaller but finishing almost perfectly, and the other has much chunkier buds that have seemed to slightly foxtail, but nothing crazy. Looks like they’ll be a pleasure to trim, so seems like the best time to try dry trimming. This should help extend my drying time too for the benefit of the taste. Can’t frickin wait!! See you in 1-2 weeks guys ✌️💚

Final post for this grow!!! I somehow managed to reach yet another harvest. I’m so proud of myself. This run had been such a cool one, exploring living soil has been an absolute pleasure and I love everything about this bud. Smiles all round, dry trimming was sooo fast and wonderful with a silicone brush and the smell after even a day in the grove bags is incredible! The taste is great too, exactly what the strain should be. Like pineapple and cheese on a skewer. Chopped a few days early I feel, as the effect is a little energising, but that could just be the strain! Gets me suuuuper stoned and as I medicate for my mental health, the lack of couch lock is appreciated. Anyway, let’s wrap this one up!!! - Cut down on 15th May at 8:15pm - Environment 18-20°C and 60% RH - Put into tubs 23rd May - Trimmed & bagged on 26th & 27th

What a week, dude! That silver shimmer is positively celestial, really gorgeous and so fat. Picture perfect bud structure. These last few weeks are so satisfying, revelling in the aesthetics before moving onto the smoke you already know is gonna be bomb.

@UnorthadoxDude, buy from good quality worm farms who sell them specifically for this purpose! Honestly I’m sure there are so many biological things happening here that I’m oblivious to, but as long as I have good IPM I hope to be okay. We’ll see though I guess!

@kizdog, interesting. Have you any concerns over pathogens or pests they might bring with them? What is the impact of having worms in the substrate?

Holy pasta water how did I even miss this? I've been so twisted around lately but ugh that yield, siiiiick dude. I see you're rocking the grove bags there, I believe I'm gonna be giving those a go myself coming up. And silicon brush, you say...?? Intriguing... I'm eager for all tips! Still new to this and against machine trimming for my own buds but, I've got old eyes and a lot of snippety snip time coming up. Looking into that!

@DotMinatrix, they suppress all the smell! Sorry it took me a while to get back to you, but yeah they absolutely STINK when you open them but have a really nice seal (you can also heat seal). I don’t know how they manage to make the bag breathable with no smell but I’m obsessed with the idea of not having to burp a bunch of jars every day haha

@kizdog, so they're not odor- tight? I'd been told they were and this is quite an important issue to me. How much smell do they suppress?

@DotMinatrix, you’re too kind!! Honestly had such a fun time with this strain, the buds are ROCK hard and it’s curing wonderfully, such a gassy cheesy stank from the grove bags. Also, regarding the brushing method, I’d recommend getting a trim tray or something to catch the trichomes. Dry trimming creates less scissor hash than wet but way more dry sift. It takes 1/4 of the time it takes to wet trim and the product is top-shelf! Give it a try friend your arms and back will thank you 👍

Hey dude, how's it going with your grow? Got that lovely hung up yet or still riding out the last lingering week like me? Been looking awesome, I'd personally love to see how it turned out.

@DotMinatrix, you’re too kind! Honestly you are a big boost to my daily morale, my first real grower friend! I’m glad our flowers synced up. Thanks for being so cool 🍃 as for the next ones, I have some seeds in the fridge from my last order (Barney’s Runtz x Layer Cake) so I’ll be giving them a go! Only have 3 and I need 2 so wish me luck!

@kizdog, there's our bro! Flower twinsies to the end, think I'm chopping tomorrow myself (grand day 100). Yours looks so clean and perfect, dude, it's like what they'd put on the cover of a cannabis textbook. Any hints on your next project?

I have to imagine that you set your wake up alarm early every day just to have extra time to gaze upon your garden in satisfaction. Wow, dude. Like, wow. You've mentioned before that you grow for your own medicine. So do I. Mad self-agency respect. Happy growing, fam.

@DotMinatrix, you’re awesome dude! I wish that was the case. The room my tent is in used to be my bedroom so I could literally open my closet to check on them. But I moved elsewhere, so I have to commute every other day just to see my babies!! It’s helped me stop the helicopter parenting though haha

Flower buddies! Going into the same week with my crazy girl. Yours looks so perfect and pristine it's got me yearning for photo life again. I don't think it's beginners luck with that soil, bro, it's very obvious you're quite in tune with your garden. It's a pleasure to watch you grow.

Duuuude that structure is pristine, bro. Your grow is *glowing*, I bet it smells divine! Got your next line up all planned out yet? I just upgraded my setup and am starting my first multi plant grow, I am beyond thrilled and am not above asking your opinion on it. Been awesome watching you work as always! (Oh and hey, if you're on reddit my u/ is there on my forgotten strawberries tag.)

Damn check that stacking, she's gonna be lovely dense. And such sparkles! Hope you're gonna make good use of that frosted flakes trim you'll get, every bit of them looks fantastic.

Looks awesome, dude! Just starting to play around with some living soil ideas and companion plants myself. Can't ID the bug but as far as ipm goes I really like purecrop1. Works on any sap sucker, fungicide, organic, pet friendly, yadda yadda. Have had zero complaints using through early flower. Good luck, dude!
