Setup
------------------------------
I'll be growing in my trusted UndrCovrLab S tent. It's only 75x44x165 cm, but it can still produce a large harvest and is suitable for low-growing autos.
This grow will be the third round in my 25-liter pots with living soil, although I applied a heavy topdressing to re-amend the soil. I mixed kelp meal, neem meal, diatomaceous earth, lime, rock dust, epsom salt, biochar, and mycorrhiza into a 10-liter bag of fresh worm castings before applying half of it to each pot.
Germination
------------------------------
I started germination by lightly scuffing the seeds in a matchbox lined with sandpaper before dropping the seeds into a glass of water mixed with myco.
The myco product I use also contains kelp, and multiple studies have shown how kelp benefits germination and rooting.
I also use some of this myco water to soak the root riot plugs before planting. To increase stability, I turned them upside down, made a small hole, and planted the seeds after soaking them overnight.
The plugs now stand on a small propagation tray on a heating mat underneath a humidity dome with a small LED spotlight above it.
Now we wait...
...48 hours later, we have 100% germination!
@MrGrowthSpurt, Thank you! The plants might look healthy now, but there were struggles in the first few weeks due to the top dressing I applied. Lessons learned!
@StarLorr, I hope so. I don't have much experience in dealing with nutrient issues, so I'm feeling a bit lost, to be honest. Oh well, it will be a learning experience ;)
Plants are simply too happy in your tents, they don't want to stop growing.
I never knew it's enough to put the mites in a sachet and hang them on the plant 😳 how do they get out?
@kohlrabi, They are so happy that I'm considering playing death metal to them. That should mellow them out.
There's a small hole in each sachet, and the mites will venture out over a period of time.
