We had only 1 Northern Lights #10 to try that sadly failed to germ, but will acquire more for the future. A second 100k is germinating, I'll most likely only top it once as it's recommended for multi top, this should help it catch up but we will see how it goes. The soil is Fox Farms Ocean Forest, but the starter cups and the center of the soil is actually Happy Frog. Inside this tent is an auto finishing flowering from my first grow, and 3 autoflowers germinating for my next closet grow as the other two autos finish in the coming weeks. The three photos will have this tent to themselves come flowering time.
Seedlings are doing good, with the loss of the herbies NL #10 our 2nd 100k from Exotic Genetix has popped. She will be behind the others when flip comes and i've come to call her the midget lol, but she'll fill the corner nicely
Growing fast, I should of started LST at this point but I had space restrictions waiting on my previous grow to finish up (took longer than expected) but they did good in the end anyways. Grandaddy growing the fastest. Now taking 1.5 liters of water every other day. B-52 gas been started at half doses. I split all my nutes in half as I feed 2 times a week, every other watering. But I also cut them in half again at the beginning weeks, as fox farms ocean forest is very hot. No 3 part formula yet or I may burn them, I plan to switch soils next grow as I have had Ph issues both grows as well. That comes up in flower I'll elaborate when I'm able to post that week. Transplanting to final pot sizes also occured this week with GD Purple and 100k in 7 gallons and 100k midget in a 5
This is where picture taking and records keeping got away from me, newbie mistake of starting the second grow too soon I had my hands a bit full. I should of had space for the autos sooner, and the scrog net in a week sooner. Grandaddy Purple could of been topped sooner but she really just took off. They were topped early in this week so they would have at least a weeks recovery before switching to bloom. I also begin light defoliation of the underneath canopy. leaves and shoots that would be under the first scrog net. I take a few from each every couple of days to avoid over stressing them. My first topping so I only topped them once, they recovered well and were tied down with light LST shortly after to spread them out a bit. My flowering journals will have better details then this period.
The new light has arrived for flowering our photos in the tent. It's set up on 03-02 and the photos are flipped to 12-12 to begin flower. The Autoflowers are finally moved to the closet (ill post auto grow later) so the tent can be sealed up. 3 Part base nutes are now added to the feed at quarter the usual dose. This is because I started at half dose for the weekly recommended amount, but I feed twice a feed so I cut my weekly amount in half. Half the feed one watering. Then no feed next watering, followed by the final Half. Defoliation continues beneath the canopy, extra shoots are being trimmed. I'm new to this and accidentally broke one of Grandaddy's smaller branches. I'll focus further LST to direct extra shoots to any gaps in the net as I flip to 12-12
The lights have been flipped to a 12/12 schedule, and a 4inch intake fan with carbon filter to bring in fresh air and keep it sealed from light. I began feeding bud ignitor, full weekly strength. All base nutes and additives are at full strength except for terpinator I will increase slowly over time. All nutes are cut in half though, as I feed every other water. twice a week which hits the full weekly required amount but spreads it out a bit. I had nute burn with some autos feeding the weekly amount all at once and I wanted to be on the safe side especially using Ocean Forest soil.
By the end of the week preflower pistils have shown and the girls are just beginning their stretch. I wish I had gone with a 6 inch intake fan to match the 6inch I use as an exhaust, the tent sucks in more than I like and will keep this in mind in the future.
Preflowers have grown nicely and the the girls are stretching and putting out bud sites. I have turned the Spider-Farmer G4500 to full power, I started them at 75%. I still defoliate here and there but I give at least 3 days in between and try not to take too many leaves to avoid stressing them. The focus of my defoliation began in the early weeks underneath the netting and canopy. Removing extra leaves and small shoots that would of developed popcorn buds. With those being clear and taking fewer leaves now that they are in flower (5-10 at the most, they are pretty bushy) I am for the leaves that would cover bud sites only or restrict airflower around the colas as they fatten later. Big bud joins the regimen of nutrients this day as it is now Week 2 of flower. I am following their nutrient calculator carefully to avoid nute burn. They are taking 5 liters of water every other day in their 7 gallon pots (liters for the midget in a 5 gal), feedings every other watering still (twice a week). Terpinator is being given every watering, and increased to 10 ml.
A great week, Grandaddy took off in stretch first and is the tallest girl by a couple inches (tried to level out better with LST but she's a fast grower and definitely got away from me). 100K is looking beautiful in the middle and is hitting her stretch. The mini is slightly behind but not by much, mostly just smaller. B-52 and Nirvana have been added to the feeding schedule this week, Terpinator upped to 15 ml a gallon. This was the last week I had to do any minor tie downs to fill in Grandaddy's bald center from an early break and she's looking good. Some minor defolation every feed days (around 5ish leaves) that are covering bud sites. Temperatures are a little high with the tent closed but do not raise above 84. I keep my tent open most of the day (11ish hours) and the temps sit at 79 right now and I'd prefer lower, and AC unit arrives soon and will help regulate the temps in my small room. Part of the temp issues I believe is the lower powered intake fan (4 inches vs the 6 inch exhaust) which is also causing the tent to suck in more than i'd prefer. Doing good though with those things considered and keeping the tent open during lights on (closed a half hour before lights off).
A great week all around, the AC unit is in the window and the temps are down to 77 during the day with the tent open, if I close it I hit 82 but I leave it open as the fan gets caught from the tent sucking in too much. I turn off the oscillating switch at night before closing up the tent, and aim the fan at the tent wall so not to burn the plants. It makes a nice cross breeze I've seen other growers do this instead of using rotating fans. Bud Ignitor was dropped after the third week of flower (supposed to stop 2nd week, but I gave 1 more half dose). A few leaves clipped here and there over bud sites but that I will stop as they are hitting mid flower. The respond well to the nutrients and are growing beautifully. 100k is already packing on the trichomes, even the mini! and Purp, while getting a nice frost started herself is already showing some purple hues. The smell is gretting stronger now and is noticeable when watering the flowers or doing any work. Sensizyme arrived this week and has been added to the feedings
Up to date finally! And plants are looking good and still no signs of stress. The buds have been forming nicely and putting weight on, even the mini. The frost continues to build especially on 100K the white truffles parentage shining through. Nutes are staying the same for now but Overdrive will be introduced very soon
Entering week 6 AN Overdrive has been added, Big Bud is supposed to be removed but I'll be keeping it an extra week as Grandaddy still has weight to put on, a little more for 100K as well. Terpinator increased to 20ml a gallon. Bottle dosage is 10-30 ml a gallon but i'm thinking this may be excessive and will be reducing it to a maximum of 10ml a gallon in future grows. A few more fan leaves were snipped above flowering sites but has stopped this week
Week 7 of flowering and the girls have been fattening up nicely, I don't think 100K will get much fatter but her buds are as dense as rocks and she's fully coated in milky white trichomes. No amber trichomes on the girls yet will be keeping an eye on them throughout next week and will most likely begin flushing them all next week for 1 week or as long as they take to finish ripening. Grandaddy Purple's new growth has been uniform across the top except one little spot on one cola so I don't suspect foxtailing I think she's just finishing filling out. Big Bud, Piranha and Voodoo Juice have been cut from the feeds as per Advanced Nutrients calculator schedule. Final feed will take place end of this week or beginning of next.
Girls are ripening nicely and all have white cloudy trichomes, Grandaddy's new growth as well, new growth along her side colas has filled her in nicely. The fades have set in the leaves as well, hues of purple for GDP and scarlet red for 100k along with darkening greens to almost black in color. Flush will begin on the final day of this week and all nutes will be pulled. EDIT: No amber trichomes yet so will continue feeding for now until next week. Girls are smelling strong now,
Flush began towards the end of this week, with one last feeding at the beginning of it. All trichomes are cloudy with a few amber here and there. We want a bit of couch lock so we are aiming for at least 30% so we will spend the next week watching their trichomes with a jewelers loupe, and a follow up second flush. First flush was 05-06. The girls are smelling strong, with Grandaddy Purp having hints of berry candy and 100K's white truffle heritage is definitely showing as she has the somewhat nutty, earthy smell that I remember from my last bag of white truffles. The colas are dripping with resin practically and leave our hands sticky when we go to adjust them from time to time (little adjustments as they get heavy but the second net has taken care of most of that). Next week will be their final week, possibly half week. All nutes are fully stopped except for Terpinator once flush begins
Flush week is here! Or was here lol. I was behind on my journal's and I've actually already chopped the girls (pics included) and will update soon with a harvest week as soon as they are finished hang drying. The trichomes were cloudy white with roughly 20-30% amber trichomes and some wonderful terp aromas from each. 100K has a smell and taste (we sampled a bud dried in a paper bag, was fantastic) has a similarity to Slapz from the same release and it is honestly a great flavor and aroma to have. She also has hints of nutty earthiness underneath from her White Truffles and they blend well together. Grandaddy's terps vary going down her branches so far. At the top her grapey berry aroma is dominant where as the lower buds are more heavily of flowers (violets, i agree with leafly on that aroma description for GDP) with hints of the berries. A sample from a paper bag was mostly of violet flowers and smoke smooth with a deep relaxing high. Better info to come with the harvest week update! Plants were left in 48 hours of darkness with attention to airflower kept to prevent mold
Our drying set up: The tent light is off, with oscillating fan removed. Only an intake was left on the bottom (removed oscillating fan after 1st day was too much) with a small monkey fan pointed across to keep it moving along the floor, with the exhaust running up top to keep even airflow around the buds. I'm trying to avoid any direct airflow on the buds. The trellis net is lifted to the top of the tent, to hang the branches from easily with plant wire.
Our drying conditions: The branches are hung individually after snipping off larger fan / water leaves, we try to leave some of the smaller leaves to help protect the buds and their terpenes. Our environment we try to keep in the mid to low 60s, but never higher than 68 (I prefer 66 degrees farenheit) and the humidity we keep around 60 to 60% but no higher, and preferably never lower. This is to protect the terpenes and cannabinoids from evaporating due to heat or dry conditions. I changed to this method after some research and owe the idea on temps and humidity to Matt from Mr Canucks Grow on Youtube, it's a more recent video of his from within the past year and was very informative.
100K Is a beautiful plant from Exotic Genetix. She grew strong and fed happily on the nutes without sign of nute burn. Her buds were a little small but they were hard as rocks! Dense and packed with trichomes. It gives them a beautiful appearance constrasting the dark color of her buds. The smoke is smooth yet dank, with a similar flavor from Slapz in the same series (tried from local dispensary) but with an earthy nutty smoothness underneath. Will definitely keep growing this one I highly recommend her!
My first harvest report and I couldn't find the dry weight part so I put 5.5 ounces in the wet bud section but that is the dry weight as I do not weight them wet yet.
This is my first strain from Dr. Blaze but I definitely recommend his seeds. Other products include other classics and strains from the hey days. This is legit Grandaddy Purple and she smells of berry fruit snacks, and violets. Her buds a beautiful purple, at times green (lower down the branch) and have a nice coating of trichomes. Her smoke after drying was smooth but she hits with a good body high. Taste is also of berry fruit snacks but some of her lower buds were more heavily of violets and we enjoy those too! Great plant, sturdy genetics I accidentally broke a branch off her early in LST and managed to fill it in during stretch, she still put out great even missing an arm....still feel bad about that
