The beginning of a new grow is always filled with excitement - but along that excitement comes the responsibility to prepare properly to give your seed the best possible chance.
Day 0 - Today I dropped a Green Gelato Seed into a glass of water where she will stay for 24 hours.
I prepared my Coco Coir by rehydrating the dried Coco and rinsing off any of the Coco Pete that will cause the Coco to retain too much moisture.
The rinsing process is time consuming but if done right you'll have a substrate that drains perfectly without holding onto any extra moisture.
Finally, I buffered my the Coco with a 150% strength CalMag buffer. This would be 150ml/L in my case.
In total I will do two 8 hour buffers. Refreshing the CalMag mixture after the first 8 hours.
Day 6 - She's popped her head out today! So excited for the next 3 months!
Day 7 - I've prepared the tent today she'll be moving into her controlled environment tonight.
Day 8 - She's moved into her tent and happy as she can be. I have a little plastic cup over her to increase humidity. Seed cap detached perfectly and the first real leaves are starting to show signs.
Day 10 - She's slowly but surely starting to get her first set of leaves. From previous grows I know to trust this process as she's working on the root growth first.
Day 13 - It's transplant day! Would you take a look at that root growth?? She looks amazing and will be loving the new home and food. I also started to give Advance Nutrients today.
Day 15 - Today is 48 hours after the transplant. The color difference is noticeably a darker green as she frees her roots and gets access to the nutrients. Leaf size is also noticeable on a day to day basis now.
Day 21 - Let the Veg begin! I've upped the nutrients ever so slightly to 0.75ml/L. Cold weather in my area makes for a chill night time at the moment but everything is looking very good this far into the process.
Day 24 - Wow the growth is now really noticeable overnight! She's looking very very happy in her final home and taking well to the nutrients.
Day 26 - The growth during this stage always surprises me! She's booooming!
Day 27 - I decided to do some (Light Stress Training) LST today. I used 2 pieces of green garden wire. One piece to support the base of the plant and the other to bend over the top of the plant. I'm happy with the outcome as LST at this age is always nerve-wracking.
Day 28 - It always amazes me how these plants respond to LST. Only 24 hours after tying her down she's recovered and looks amazing! I nade sure to maintain a nice stem bend angle today with the garden wires.
Day 29 - Fan leaves are huge! Might be the largest I've seen at this age. The LST is working well as she's growing at an angle now.
Day 33 - She's a thick bush and only 5 weeks old! That's nuts! This is by far the fastest grower I've had. LST is happening next week and it's gonna be one hell of a job! She's thick!
Day 35 - Today I applied LST to the side branches and also readjusted the main branch. Overall looking very good I might start increasing water amount next week.
Day 42 - The bounce back from the snap has been incredible! The canopy height is starting to fill out evenly. Really great how she's recovered from the stem snap accident.
Day 49 - I showed her to a friend today and he was blown away! He couldn't even tell that I broke the plant in half on week 5. The pre flower stretch has begun it seems! Excited for the next few weeks to see how she sets out.
Once again - I can't believe how well she recovered. Don't give up on a snapped plant!
Day 51 - I've increased the nutrients this week to 2ml per L. We've started to move into flower stage. This will be the last week of Veg/ Flower, technically it's a flowering week.
Day 54 - The flower stretch is in full form! I've moved the lights up a bit today as the stretching is noticeable day to day now. Bud sites are starting to form beautifully.
Day 56 - The end of the week! The stretching is gaining an inch in height daily! Incredible to see. Tomorrow we start a new week.
Day 58 - I removed a hand full of bottom fan leaves today to allow for some more light penetration. I focused on inward growing leaves and towards the outer edges of the bottom third of the plant. I also nipped off the small satellite buds. Hoping that flower stretch stops soon!
Day 59 - Defoliated a bit more today around the top side. I also tied down a branch that was getting a bit higher than the rest of the canopy. You can see that in the day 59 photos above.
Today was the first day I noticed a shine on and around the flowers! Let the frost begin!
Day 61 - Moved the lights to 30cm fron 22cm today. The even canopy is really helpful for moving lights at a consistent height for this grow. I also updated all the grow stats on the diary today.
Day 62 - Bud sites are getting fluffy! I love to see it!
Day 67 - All kolas are noe starting to fill out. Humidity in my area is a bit high lately keeping the tent in the low 60%. My fan and carbon extraction filter in running 24/7. If the humidity doesn't settle I'll be adding the dehumidifier this week. Other than that she looks very happy!
Day 70 - Removed some more leaves this week to allow for better airflow as she starts to fatten out. Incredible bud growth progress this week, going from bud sites with empty stems to almost no empty stems. 10 weeks into the journey! Bring on the final stretch!
Day 71 - Defoliated today as she's starting to swell out. Took off around 30-40 fan leaves around the edges but also those growing towards the inside on the plant.
Day 73 - I woke up this morning to the smell of sweet sweet Mary Jane! I left the tent slightly peeled open for the night to help with humidity and this morning my house smells of weed! Time to get out those odor control gels! By the way it smells amazing.
Day 75 - I added a video flyover of my tent. Defoliated some more light blocking leaves this morning. In doing so I brushed by some flowers and man they are getting sticky!
Day 90 - She's entering the final stages now! Buds have all fattened up to a nice size to begin the swelling! Overall I did a bunch of Defoliation on this plant, more than even before.
Day 94 - The smell is definitely there now, no escaping it anymore. The Defoliated sites have grown taken on buds like crazy the last 4 days.
Day 100 - We have made it - today I stopped giving her nutes. We'll see how she finishes out from here on.
Day 103 - Day 3 of only water and still all looks well. The smell is definitely now on the stronger side. Maybe a 7/10. I continued picking off some of the larger fan leaves this week as well.
Day 108 - Hopefully this is her final week. She's still been swelling this week and very little ambers if any on the actual flowers. We'll aee how she's colors up this week and decide on the Chop this weekend.
Day 110 - Final lights day. I'll be unplugging my lights tonight before bed time. Friday will be chop day!
Day 112 - So after 48 hours in the dark, I decided to chop her this morning. This is the first time I'm doing 48h of darkness, as it was my 3rs time growing I thought why not? We shall see the results. I'm expecting a 7-10 day drying period, depending on what my weather does.
Day 113 - Because of the denser branch structure and thicker bud sites - i decided to seperate that plant into 7 pieces today to increase airflow.
Day 120 - Chopped up and ready for the cure!
