Thu Mar 2 - I harvested the first 2 plants as they were ready. - This time I decided to trim them wet instead of hang them to dry. - Most videos of people using the bowl trimmer, they were doing it with fresh buds, not dried buds. - Also, the last harvest, I rolled some dried buds on the bowl trimmer and I lost twice the amount of weight due to the buds being dry and crumbly - I worked out perfectly! I did start off with the blades on the furthest setting away from the grill, and worked my way closer to the grill by removing spacers until I was at the closest setting. Then I found that the buds were trimmer perfectly. It literally took less than a minute each time I rolled the buds on it. It saved me hours and hours of time - I was always on the fence about buy it as they are a little pricey, but after the last harvest with 19 plants, it took me two night at 8 hours per night…so after that, I decided it would be worth the price if it worked and it totally does work! - After the buds were trimmed, I put them in the hanging baskets and put them into the curing tent as it is set to the perfect settings for drying weed which is the same settings as curing. 62° humidity and 21°C - I did separate the buds by plant as I want to do a study on the weight loss of the dried buds and I want to ensure that I know which plant is which. - I know that some day I won't be able to separate the buds when drying because I may have too much, but if I can get some statistics, I can apply those numbers to future grows to ensure that I'm getting the most out of my harvests Sat Mar 18 - I harvest the last 2 plants. They were a little bit behind the other 2 plants. But one thing that was surprising was the weight difference. Both of these 2 plants were between 50% to 60% heavier than the 1st two. - Part of me now wonders if I did those two too soon?!? Or it could be that just the extra two weeks of KoolBloom Dry and Ripen could have helped the plants really bulk up - The harvesting went well. I think I need to clean the bud bowl trimmer. I never did it after the harvest a couple of weeks ago. I felt that the blades were not cutting quite that good. But not because they were dull, but because they were too sticky and covered in resin to cut well. - I'm going to soak the pieces of the trimmer in super hot water with dish soap and see how that goes. I want to make the experience of cleaning the bud bowl trimmer as part of my notes. Mon Mar 20 - I soaked the bud trimmer in the laundry tub with dish soap and hot water for a few hours - I worked pretty good. I was able to wipe the blades clean. The grill was a bit harder to wipe clean but it did come off but I definitely ruined the sponge I used as the resin doesn't just desolve in the hot water and soap…it just softens up so that it can be wiped off. - sadly, the the screws and weld-spots on the grill were literally forming rust white under water or at least it looks like rust, it could be a bit of resin, but it wouldn't surprise me. - When I put it all back together afterwards so I could harvest another crop , the bud trimmer did an excellent job. I think I will probably just do the blades each time and I'll do the grill every few times…Because the blades getting covered in resin made them not cut as well. I did notice that when I was coming to the end of trimming the harverst, the blades weren't cutting as well.
