Sun Dec 25 - Out of the 7 remaining seedlings, just 3 had roots that are protruding out of the plug.
- I may plant 2 of the seedlings into their grow bags tomorrow as they are getting tall enough to plant.
- I may have to plant the seedlings in stages
- One of my observations from this grow using the H2O2 method is that the seedling roots and cotyledons seem to be
very weak and easy to pull apart. And their development in the plug is slower than other methods once in their plugs.
This is despite how fast they pop out a taproot. I feel that the H2O2 does have a negative effect on the roots. I think next
germination, I will only let the seed soak in 1% H2O2 for 1 day, then switch to the paper towel method. I just want the H2O2
to have the positive effect on opening the seed, but then not let the taproot be popped out sitting in the 1% H2O2
Or I could let the 2nd day of soaking in just water.
Tue Dec 27 - Planted 5 of the seedlings into their grow bags. 2 seedlings I'm going to keep in the propagator to see if their roots grow
bigger (these are the ones that shed their seed while still sitting in the H2O2 solution. One seedling was destroyed by me
by accident. It looks like it's trying to re-grow, but I have serious doubts.
- I watered the plants with PH'd water and RapidStart. I used a full liter per plant instead of half a liter.
Wed Dec 28 - I watered the 3 seedlings that are still in the plugs. I have decided not to water them tomorrow so as to get the roots to
go searching for water. I'm seeing if letting them a bit thirsty will aid in their development.
- I've accepted the fact that I've got 5 planted in grow bags and I may have to just let those seedlings go… but I might as well
experiment with them while there in the propagator.
