So two of the auto flowers, one GMO from Atlas seeds, one lemon grass from Humboldt, have stunted growth. I believe it is from the cold April, and the fact that these are auto flowers and are finicky. I have never grown auto flower before but now that I have, I think that they can be tricky, perhaps outdoor for auto flower is not the best

I've grown off and on as an amateur for about 20 years. This is my first time posting anything about anything. I used to be cheap and not buy femized seeds but last year I grew a TON of male plants so I was like, fuck this! My first year running with seeds I actually purchased. GMO and Froot by the Foot by Atlas Seeds and Lemongrass Auto are my starting autoflowers. Around May I plan on germinating regular femized Humbolt Seeds Pistachio and Solfire Gardens Block Monster. All outdoor grown in the Bay Area, CA. We'll see how it goes. I'm most curious about my Solfire which I've read can be like leather and tabacco (LOL!)...anyways, we'll see.

Just watered them to get the soil ready before I even plant the feminized seeds

How many hours of direct sun are they getting? I'm debating whether I should give outdoor a try but the spot I prefer only gets around 5 hours of direct sun.

@TangoNCash, Thanks for the answer. I live in the south so the sun is already hitting hard. Good luck!

@Saucynuggets, to answer your question a little bit better, I put the plants on the south facing side of my house. This being April I think they are getting about 6 to 7 hours of direct sunlight I did this last year as well it worked.

@Saucynuggets, right now, it being April in the bay area not too much sun. But they are alive and well. What I am curious about is the whole 70 days from start to finish. I wonder if that is true or if it is more based on light. In any event, I am hopeful for a harvest in June and I will quickly replant another auto flower session with the hope of harvesting in late September.

Agreed, outdoor growing is so gratifying and nothing beats the sun. The plants seem so much happier outside as long as conditions are ok. Bugs and critters and mold etc can be tricky but each has its solution. 🙏 happy smoking puff puff!!😎
