probably should not be grown indoors but I did anyway. It is fantastic that the breeder makes these available. didn't have any issues at all with intersex or otherwise, only challenge is containing the beast inside an indoor tent.
This seemed to work well, I'm trying it for another grow. cheap and easier than dealing with mixing nutrients. Not sure I gave the plant the correct amount of nutrients/water but I got a ton of flowers so....
chopped on day 122 of 10/14 flower after seeing more nanners than I would like. they had a good run !
Smoke review
First time growing a landrace sativa, it was awesome.
Some benefits, leaves are so thin that light gets thru to more of the plant. Need really not much veg so you can save on electricity. After drying most of the razor thin leaves just fall off, trim part isn't the problem. The high is great, very clean, highly motivating, long lasting.
Downsides: Harvesting was too much work, I'd go for smaller/less plants next time. Literally a part time job with my setup. Also if I could do it over I would setup more trellis in advance. And use smaller pots but transplant in like week 7 flower. That stretch is crazy. Another downside is the fluffier foxtailing buds are pretty, but they take up so much volume. Had to keep making return trips to the jar store. I spent a whole night jarring the buds up only for them to not be ready yet, had to then spend entire morning putting them in paper grocery bags to dry out a little more, then do the whole thing again two days later.
After getting buds back in jars and stable at 60RH, last thing I wanted to do was weigh it all, but I did, yeah it's a lot, this mangobiche can definitely yield, so much that it's like overwhelming/annoying for a hobby grower. Not sure what I'm gonna do with all this or even where to find space in my house to store all the jars. I guess now I'm ready for the apocalypse.
Overall, exceeded my expectations. Was fully prepared for spindly herms or some other failed grow. Will be growing more plants like these again for sure, just will go about it a bit smarter.
Yo, tip burn might be because of so-called "Guttation" ((c) ChatGPT ) and not the nutrient burn, I learned this about two days ago after watching "We the growers" podcast, ep 12
Here's what robot says about it
"Guttation is a phenomenon in which water droplets form at the tips of leaves as a result of the plant's root pressure. This usually happens during the night when transpiration rates are low (transpiration is the process through which water is lost from the plant to the atmosphere). This pressure forces some water up and out of the plant, resulting in droplets forming on the leaf tips.
In the context of indoor cannabis cultivation, if these droplets collect and remain on the leaf tips as the lights come back on, they can act like small magnifying glasses, focusing the light onto a very small, localized spot. This can cause "burn" marks or discoloration at the leaf tips, which can sometimes be mistaken for nutrient burn.
In some cases, this process can also bring out some of the nutrients from the xylem vessels, which can accumulate as a residue on the leaf surface, potentially causing some additional burn or toxicity symptoms."
Awesome job so far! Keep on going :)
@bobtheblob thanks for the hint! I am keeping an eye on it, since these have many many more weeks to go. First time trying to grow such a long-flowering strain.
