I was nervous for this week as I waited for the seeds to sprout but the Sapphine OG (named Daphni) came up in two days. I had my 600W LED pretty close(@10") and that stunted her height.Moved it to 18" after a day or two.

Just trying to not mess anything up. Have kept the pH in balance between 6.1 and 6.6. The water temp is constant at 75 degrees. No signs of disease or nutrient burn.

This is week five of vegetative growth and the last week before I switch them to Flowering stage. So far the ABLE Grow Chamber is working as well as I could hope. I am growing three different types of Cannabis - Sapphire OG, GSC and one with unknown strain. The GSC was light burned early on and was very damaged but she pulled thru enough that I can make a clone or two from her. It wakes me happy knowing that the chamber can bring back a sick plant with minimal intervention from me. I have been training Daphni (name for the Sapphire OG) for a Sea of Green method and she is getting really good light penetration. For my Hydroponics I am using a Rain Forest 66 reservoir and it has worked well also. On 9-7-18 I made clones from Daphni in preparation for flowering in about 3 to 5 days.

I have ended the veg cycle and transitioned into flowering. I let them veg an extra week to get more growth around the inner nodes. Training is working as Daphni almost looks like a big Bonsei tree and most of the branches growing from the underside have curled up and are growing straight up. For the past weeks my pH levels have always gone down and my humidity stayed around 55% but over the past week of vegging the pH has started to rise over time and the Humidity has gone up 10% points to 66%. What caused that change in direction? will have to study. I have the interior radio playing the local rock station 95.7 FM. As for the roots, they are very long and new roots continue to grow. wondering what average root growth for a 1 gal container looks like. No major problems for now as Daphni prepares to enter the flowering stage.

Spent the past week transitioning to flower light cycle. Daphni is continuing to fill out and have some good growth around the nodes in the middle of the stalk. The humidity lingers @ 55% which is fine. I'm wondering at what week near the end should I turn the dehumidifier on. The radio is still on 95.7 (Classic and Heavy Metal Rock). Daphni's color has remained good this week and she had no major or minor leaf problems so hopefully that will stay the same. I started my Final Bloom Solution today when I changed out the reservoir. I added KoolBloom and some Cal-mag to the solution and my PPM went way up so I hope Daphni takes to it well. The ABLE Grow Chamber is still performing well but I have noticed some green growth along the grooves of the RainForest 66 reservoir. Will clean it with a tooth brush and towel.

This was the first week of flowering on the complete bloom solution. Daphni took it with no problem. I trimmed some small lower leaves off. Daphni has 6 branches growing straight up and making a good canopy. I added a black trash bag over the top of the reservoir because it's made of light colored plastic and I thought some light could be seeping into the reservoir. see pic on Sept 26. I had to read up on the relationship between Temperature and Humidity this week. I learned WHEN TEMP GOES DOWN HUMIDITY RISES. I had a spike in the Temp on the 24th. Temp was getting up to 88 degrees so I rearranged my ventilation system and got better air circulation from the intake fan and out the 4" inline fan. The heat went down to 24.4 C but the ventilation jumped up to 65%. I turned on the dehumidifier inside the chamber but that only reduces humidity by 3 percentage points. I need more exhaust power to remove the air faster than it comes in. I have ordered a 6" inline fan to get increased CFM. When changing out the reservoir I dropped the Temp/Humidity monitor in the water and it is ruined. I will also put a small bucket of Lump coal inside the chamber and see if that helps bring down the humidity. Finally, the radio station that Daphni listens to has a crappy morning talk show which she hates. I have made a mp3 playlist for her. This week will be Jane's Addiction and The Pixies. Overall a good grow week.

I had a busy week. I updated my 4" exhaust fan to a Cloudline 6" booster exhaust fan and a bigger carbon filter. I also added another mini-fan that can oscillate and I had to add a heater. Why you ask? Because I got a CO2 tank from a friend and it is recommended to have temps in between 85-95 degrees. Granted I could have used it three weeks ago but better late than never. I have a nice CO2 monitor inside the chamber and I use the internal video camera to watch the readings. I have also added some HydroGuard to help the roots. They are slightly brown and another grower recommended it. Daphni continues to grow well and has maintained her dark green color. She has also started to make pistils and they are starting to form into buds just three days after first pistil sighting. I can smell her now too. latest readings are Air Temp = 79F, Humidity = 42%, PPM = 1810, pH = 5.9. Concerning my roots, I put a black trash bag over the top of the reservoir to keep as much light out as possible. The reservoir is tan and white and I think light was getting thru.

I have been flowering for three weeks and small buds are forming. Can I defoliate a certain percentage of small leaves now or is it to late to worry about it? There are also very small amount of white powder on leaves.

Its not too late at all to defoliate. Some people will defoliate before the 12/12 flip to open up budsites and create less shaded spots, and then do an additional defoliation after the flip. If you chose to defoliate it probably will still help the budsites since youre only 3 weeks into flower, but it'll also help bring your humidity down...less canopy..less moisture being generated by the foliage. If you take a small % first 10-15% you can always take away more, so id start small..evaluate the difference then clip more if you feel needed. Happy Flowering and love the grow box ✌️

Organization was the word for the week. I organized the leaves on Daphni by cutting some old fan leaves and low level leaves. I organized my CO2 injection procedure. CO2 tank to REGULATOR thru SOLENOID connected to TIMER every two hours with lights on. I also organized the power strip in the back with cable ties and sleeves. Finally I had to organize my way out of a FUBAR situation when the oxigenating device in the RainForest 66 Reservoir stopped working. I will have some words to say to Katie in customer service for sure. I got a standard oxiginator and a disk shaped air stone and use that now to keep the water healthy. Daphni is staring to bud more on the lower nodes and the progress so far looks good. Knock on wood. Since i turn the exhaust fan off when CO2 is injected i dont really need the heater so I took it out. Have a great week.

Buds are looking pretty. Already nice frosting of trichomes and density for small size is surprising. Have been worried about my roots and have taken all need steps to try and fix it. So far Daphni shows no signs of stress or nutrient lose. Knock on wood. Will be playing Velvet Underground for her this week. Does it make sense to cut off bad roots?

This week was rather slow. No major changes to the ABLE Chamber and Daphne continues to look good. Her smell is very strong up close but the odor control of the chamber seems to be working well. Humidity has stayed down in the appropriate range @40%. Wondering when to stop giving her solution, she is about three weeks from when her flowering schedule should be done. Do I stop nutrient solution one week or two weeks before harvest?

Another uneventful week.Daphne continues to bud and no issues with the Chamber. pH is staying steady @ 6.5 for now. Humidity continues to stay in low 40's and she is starting to acquire a very nice scent. Hopefully another two weeks on nutrients then a third week of no nutrients then hopefully a completed harvest.

Have got the pH cycling between 5.8 to 6.8 every 3 to 4 days. Started lowering the nutrients in preparation for harvesting in @ two weeks. Getting excited to get to the finish line. I smelled her today for the first time when I walked into the Batcave but the Grow Chamber is doing very good at controlling any huge odor. The humidity is stable in the low 40's as is the air temp which stays between 70-75 degrees. Added some Fugazi to Daphne's playlist. - recently i have seen articles about keeping pH constant. I will try this on my next grow.

This is the last week before harvest. Using just water. Cut off all fan leaves (should have done that weeks ago). Keeping pH @ 6.0. Daphne is still doing well. Impressed with how I was able to slowly bring down humidity during the grow cycle - it's now below 40%. Maybe it was the charcoal. Excited about harvest. I am very happy with the first test of the A.B.L.E. (All-purpose Botanical Life-giving Environment) Grow Chamber. Any problem with the plant was due to me and I believe the chamber helped in every part of the grow cycle.

I had a great feeling of accomplishment as I harvested Daphne today. She was the first plant I have brought to life in many years and I was impressed with how the A.B.L.E. Grow Chamber worked. I will let her dry out for a week then I will update more.......It has been a week and I am more than happy with her smoke. VERY SMOOTH no harshness. Great after taste. Even though she was a small plant she still did extremely well in all other factors,: great color, no disease, good tie down technique made for 6 tops with one main one. I will use a single 5 gal bucket for my hydro next grow to see if I get better root growth than with the 6 plant reservoir I used for this operation. The grow chamber allowed me to control the humidity, air temp, pH and PPM with relative ease. I am very happy with my first grow operation with the ABLE Grow Chamber and hope my diary was informative and entertaining for everyone. Main thing i did wrong was my fuck up with keeping the LED too close when she was a seedling. I had it at 10". (it was my 1st time w LEDs.) Secondly, I never got good root growth but not sure why. my theory is that light was seeping through the white plastic cover on the Rainforest 66 reservoir. The best thing I did was controlling all the factors needed to grow with my A.B.L.E Grow Chamber Prototype. It made great use of limited space and saved electricity with its low power usage. Look forward to using it one more time before we make the first salable model. 0

If you want to save yourself a huge headache, go out and get some hydroguard asap and put it into your basin, it will turn around your browning roots. It will battle root rot with high temps. This is only my 2 cents, but I want to impart the knowledge of this product onto you before it's too late, as some other grower on here did for me. Good luck with your grow!

@CommanderCannabis, frequent change is considered once a week. Limit is once every two weeks. Some people will call that “pushing the limits”. Although your roots may look like that, but if your plants are doing fine, then I wouldn’t worry too much.

Hi @CommanderCannabis! If you're talking about the sugar leaves onto/close to bud-sites, I won't touch them until harvest, you may harm the buds and they're useful to the photosynthesis process. If you're talking about the old fan leaves on the main stem, then go ahead, especially if these are creating shades on lower bud-sites or if you think the airflow inside the plant is not sufficient. In order not to shock the plant, do it slightly, and only remove 3~4 leaves at a time, then see how it goes after a day or two. Now about your powdery mildew issue, it's too late to spray anything, but you can treat with the organic product of your choice (milk, neem oil, garlic, vinegar) using a sponge, apply delicately on the leaves and make sure you don't touch the bud-sites with the sponge. Hope this will help, keep us up-to-date and happy growing 👊
CommanderCannabis
CommanderCannabiscommented6 years ago
@Stick, Thanks for the advice. I removed most of the old fan leaves and that opened up more area for light to get to the lower buds. The spots on my leaves were actually small sawdust from when I drilled a hole for the CO2 hose. I covered the Daphni when I drilled but I guess some was floating around. All the leaves were wiped clean and look good.

@CRiSPrGrow, I started using HydroGuard two weeks ago and yesterday I started using Hygrozyme. Even though the roots look brown Daphni has so far showed no signs of a nutrient deficency or lack of growth. Knock on wood. Of course I change out my reservoir every week but for a time about four weeks ago her water temp was running high (low 80s) and that could have been the cause of my root problem in the first place. Thanks for asking.
the end.
