Branches are taking off out of this central area looks just like a tree.
Not sure if my F.I.M. took and I think I just topped her but her node spacing is tight so it worked out regardless - her leaves are bigger than my hands.
12" tall and about 18" across. She could probably be trimmed so leaves and branches aren't trying to grow into the plant and obstruct other leaves and branches.
once these branches get a little clear of each-other I will top them. The plant would benefit from LST but im just going to let her do what she wants and just defoliate problem areas.
raked away the mulch and introduced some Dr. Earth flowergirl into a topdress feeding. evened out the mulch and applied more to cover the soil better. I will also drench the soil in a tea of the remaining supply when she shows signs as well as worm castings, humic acid, Dr. Timz tree secret.
Heat is getting us good but we're pushing through. trying to water the plants in the a.m. water the surrounding area so that it cools the wind pushing through. watering the compost around the raised beds to keep from sapping. I would introduce shade but o7 life is hard girls. She is holding onto her big leaves like nobodys buisiness and frankly I think they've been keeping this girl soaring with her head above the clouds. I don't want to pluck on her too much more. I've mostly got all the leaves away from eachother so they aren't growing into eachother and i've topped her branches to bring out my final touch of training. this girl should in theory grow out similar to an Acacia.
This week is the week of summer solstice - may she stretch to at least fill the diameter of her planter with several flowering nodes
@NegotiatedBubble, I'm not sure what the 'on paper' true lineage is regarding the filial line of the strain. I've been doing some unconventional shaping and training which might have attributed to its unique shape. She really wants to put on big branches towards the afternoon sun as well. She gets to grow next to a pretty symmetrically shaped Blackberry Kush plant so she is certainly my ugly duck. This specific seed was on the smaller side as well so it might just be a little goofy too lol - I wish I knew more about Filial lines and traits. Thanks for coming and sharing about this lovely lady and taking an interest in the grow.
I grew the Twenty20 Afghani this year & had the same general observations. It’s got the old world qualities I like and is pretty darn bomb proof. I harvested a bit on the early side due to back to back storms but probably could have left them in a bit longer without damage.
You definitely did a great job of stewardship with your plants congratulations 🎈
