All good. Taproots appeared on all seeds after 48hrs and most seeds were above ground two days after sowing (day 4 from seed). All but 1 seed emerged. Assuming I damaged taproot on one when sowing.
I am using Gaia Green soil amendments, HP pro mix, Happy Frog, and Microbial Mass to build a basic living soil. I created a starter culture with the above amendments and allowed this to incubate for over a month. The started culture was mixed in with more Gaia Green amended HP Pro Mix and Happy Frog to create the growing medium. Each 5 gallon bucket was filled 3/4 with this amended soil. The last 1/4 was topped with HP Pro Mix with no amendments, which will give the seedlings a low nutrient environment to start off in and to reach the amended soils after a short period of growth.
The lower 3/4 was watered with 4l of Microbial Mass and NPK cane molasses to initiate the living soil activity and to settle the soil before the germinated seeds were added.
About 7 days above soil and doing great. Some discolouration after removing humidity domes so I turned up lights to about 25% and they are at least 30inches above seedlings so this should still be good for this stage. I am keeping lights on for 24hrs a day for now and just started an extremely weak foliar spray of the organic Gaia Green tea that has been brewing for a few days.
Check out @B4niTa FBT2313 grow. We are running a grow together project
Had one issue with humidifier running for 8hrs, but no other real problems. Lights are at 25% max output, 100w ceramic light is on most of the time. Temperature is mostly between 21-26C but can reach 30C on warmer days. Fans are running and starting to add the Gaia Green bloom tea that has been brewing for a few weeks. Lights are on 24hrs a day for the remainder of this week and then we will increase the dark period to 4hrs and light period to 20hrs for remainder of the grow.
Pictures are day 21 above soil. Pistils present on all 4 plants. Switched lights to a 20:4 L:D cycle. Still no general hydro feeding. Just what's amended into the soil and a little Gaia Green tea I made on week 1.
2312 is a beast
2313 are doing well
2311 is a little behind the rest in size.
I amended too much organic sources of N or used too much Blackstrap molasses. This is resulting in very dark green leaves and clawing. I am removing all sources of N from new inputs and focusing on trying to balance P and K. Problematic as the plants have access to soil amended nutrients and I have little control over this now. Otherwise. Plants are doing OK. Let's see how this goes
I also snapped the main cola on both 2313 plants. Too much calcium may have caused brittle stems. Again, from the excessive blsckstrap use. Live and learn.
All good
Too much amended organic nitrogen in soil resulting in overly dark green leaves. Only supplementing flora bloom P and K supplements for now to hopefully provide the right balance for early flower
Super happy so far
2312 is massive and flowered earlier this grow
2313 are larger than last grow
2311 is similar in size to the previous grow
So the lights were between 50-60% max for week 6. Watering every second day at 1-2 litre. Plants are looking great. 2312 is doing amazing this grow.
It's much harder managing nutrients when doing the hybrid organic and inorganic approach. Not knowing what organic amended sources have or have not been utilized in soil and then trying to compensate what is missing. I have been only focusing on bloom nutes for the last few weeks and it seems to be working well.
I fed weak bloom nutes at 2ml per gallon at two different times this week. I am going to increase for week 7 and add a few more supplements to try and maximize stacking and swelling as we finish off flowering over the next 4-5 weeks.
Pictures are day 44 above soil.
I added 2ml per gallon of bloom, with npk kelp/cane, and 1ml per gallon of florilious plus at the start of week 7. I added microbial mass in week 6 and 7
I noticed some leaf discolouration. Based on slow release amended Gaia Green, I am less inclined to say cal/mag issue. I think it was either P or K deficiency, which I corrected by providing a weak 2ml/gallon feeding of bloom over this week and a pulse of 4ml/per gallon on day 1 of this week. I noticed some yellowing of lower leaves on largest plant, suggesting soil amended N is decreasing and now the plant 2312 is stripping leaves. I intend to give a feed of 1ml of micro in weeks 8 and 9 to provide a little N as we finish this grow off.
Flowers are developing nicely and I seem to be sufficiently managing heat and feeding to keep the plants happy.
Lights were operating at 75% max output for week 7. Operating at 500 watts when all lights, fans, and exhaust running
Start of week 8.
1ml bloom, .5ml micro, .5 ml floralicious plus, cane molasses and kelp. 2ml bloom and 1ml micro.
2311 and 2312 fattened up a lot this week. The yellowing of 2312 leaves seems to have slowed in response to the slight increase in N for weeks 7 and 8, plus shifting the xs2000 away from 2312. The fan leaves of the two 2313 have lightened up a little but very little yellow showing so far. I am not supplementing any N for 2313 going forward over the next 3 weeks and only supplementing PK during weeks 9 and 10 at 2ml/gallon every second watering.
Temps have varied between 24-26C and occasionally hitting 28 and 29 right before the lights go off. The exhaust pumps out this hot temps during the dark period and brings the temps back down to ambient outdoor temps fairly fast.
This is a no dehumidifier grow. Risking that 60-70% will be okay as long as I maintain good airflow and exchange. Dehumidifier will be set to 55% for drying.
Lights are now at 75-80% max power. I shifted the xs2000 away from 2312 as it was showing signs of nute deficiency and possibly light burn in upper leaves. Still bulking so I'm happy.
I only fed once this week with bloom and a cane molasses feed right before the week ended. Lots of bulking happening with 2313 and still some with 11 and 12. I may or may not give one last shot of bloom in week 10, but perhaps just clean water going forward.
They seem to be responding well to just cane molasses so perhaps there is enough organic and inorganic sources of P and K in the soil to finish this grow off. Will make decision tomorrow based on how the plants responded to clean water feed yesterday.
I fed twice this week with 2ml/gallon of bloom. I provided about 3l of this solution to each plant at the beginning and middle of the week. I provided 1 litre of clean water Thursday and another litre Friday. Week 11 will be all clean water.
Some signs of spider mites webs or possibly baby spider webs. I may need to harvest now instead of waiting for the end of week 11. Will reassess tomorrow and determine how I will approach this.
