This week I transplanted the plants from the red plastic cups they were planted in, directly to their 5 gallon container home. Waiting until they settle in a little bit before topping. Catch up since this is my first post. Both plants are from feminized seeds, same strain grown side by side. The 2nd seed I planted didn't sprout (bad soil) so I planted a 3rd about a week later. So, left plant is a week older than right plant, but I'll even them out with topping/LST. Soil I initially planted in was a bit dried out and hydrophobic, so I had some unusual early growth (wavy/crumpled leaves, and some nitrogen deficiency) which I fixed by treating the soil and transplanting.

Topped, trimmed up the lower nodes leaving only the top two nodes on each plant, and started to LST. Both plants are the same strain, but I can start to see the difference in phenotype in the last two pictures. The fan leaves look a bit different. Can't really see it in the pictures but the right plant which has rounder leaves with softer ridges also had significantly shorter internode spacing on the main stem before topping.

Just switched plants into the flower tent with the new LED light (HTG 3.0 360W COB LED). I've used a 400W HPS light before, but this is the first time using this light so it will be a learning experience. Light schedule is now 12/12, but I just flipped it yesterday so they haven't shown any signs of flower yet. I start counting flowering at the first signs of flower so I'm still counting this week as "veg". Stems are getting pretty beefy, especially on the right plant. This is my first time using 5 gallon containers and silicon nutrients, so a combination of those is really increasing stem thickness. Looking forward to next week when it starts to really flower.

Starting to show first signs of flower. Used feminized seeds but it's always nice to confirm female. Bit of a learning experience using LED lights for the first time to get the lamp to plant distance, noticed a bit of light stress on the tallest Bane stem at around 16", seems like 18" is about as close as it should get.

Defoliated a bit this week since the canopy was getting crowded. You can see last week there was some crowding so I tried to get rid of the fan leaves covering bud sites. Right plant went a little hermie and grew a few pollen balls. None of them opened and I pinched them all off. I think it was just a little stress from defoliating. Tent is getting pretty full, the height of my light is almost maxed out but the plants are hopefully about done stretching so it should be about perfect 👌.

Starting to see the bud sites bulk, and some resin production. No issues or problems, so far everything is looking 👌.

Still just cruising along. No problems, bud sites are fattening and more resin production this week. Starting to smell a bit, but I wont start adding terp boosters for another week or 2. I can tell from the structure now that the yield will be pretty high thanks to the vigorous growth, but that also means a lot of work when it comes to trimming.

Plants are starting to deviate from each other unfortunately. I like to keep them on the same watering schedule, but with the right plant stretching much more than the left plant it made an uneven canopy and it's changing their overall size and transpiration rates. So, right plant is drinking faster than left plant and their watering schedules are now different. In addition, right plant is showing some calcium deficiency from the increased transpiration rate whereas left plant is completely fine and got identical treatment. So, I gave both plants a light soil flush with Foxfarm sledgehammer and supplemented the right plant with extra cal/mag nutrient. Problem seems to have stopped, but the affected fan leaves will probably die in the next few weeks. Totally not an issue as it could use some natural defoliation and extra fan leaves are a great way to catch a problem early before it affects anything. The early red hairs on top of the right plant is something I haven't experienced before with my HPS light, I'm not sure if it's due to the LED lights intensity or spectrum.

Starting to taper off the Grow Big (aka the Nitrogen fert). Started adding Fox Farm Bembe which is the terp booster. The smells are starting to get a lot stronger. Right plant that was having the nutrient problem I originally thought was calcium deficiency due to being larger and transpiring faster than left plant. However, after adding a cal/mag supplement the problem persisted. I think now it was excess potassium locking out calcium. First time using Pro-TeKt and I think that's where my excess potassium was coming from. Gave it a more thorough flush last water and should be fine now. Only a few more weeks to go!

Looks like about 2 weeks left so no more nitrogen ferts. Adding PK booster (Cha Ching) and terp booster (Bembe). Having to add some extra support to the bulky right plant as it starts to fall over from the weight. The smells are really kicking up a notch.

Looking about done, seeing some amber trichomes. Even though the right/bulky plant still has some white pistils on top, it's done too. Giving it 1 more week, and doing a sledgehammer flush/plain water before chop. Using sledgehammer before I've had good results with just a 1 week flush. Pretty surprised I haven't had any issues with the overcrowding. Combination of the ProTeKt and low humidity has prevented disaster. Tried my best with the macro shots but most ended up blurry. Next week is chop time. By the way right on time, breeder lists strain as having a 56 day flowering time, exactly 1 week from today will be the 56th day in flower.

fuck dude im currently on week 6 of the same genetics! hoping for 70% of your yield!

@70207k, one of my plants had a weird phenotype and got about twice as much bulk. 70% is actually a really good estimate of what should be more normal.

I’m really impressed, excellent looking results! I’m sure it smells delicious, but is the odor a problem? This is your unk btw🙂
TheToaster
TheToastercommented6 years ago
@Itsame, The odor isn't a problem for me, it's indoor and only smells inside a little bit. I like the smell though, it's like a fresh plant inside. Thanks for checking out the grow, harvest post is up and will be updated as it drys. New grow will be starting soon 👍.

@MovingOn, Good beans, I'd totally recommend. Good breeder too, quality of the seeds is good (all fem, no bad hermie genetics, all germinated) and I definitely want to try some of their other strains.

Wow, two different phenotypes. Very cool to see that.
TheToaster
TheToastercommented6 years ago
@MovingOn, For sure. I got a 5 pack of seeds and the other 2 plants that I grew were much more like left plant. Not quite as bulky, but very frosty. The stretchy, bulky right plant seems to be the oddball of the bunch.

@ChefDan420, For sure, OGK is probably my favorite right now. I love how you name your plants, OLGA got a nice thicc canopy going. Looking forward to see how that big girl bud's up.

look for light leaks...........................
TheToaster
TheToastercommented6 years ago
@@grzesiek, there's none. It's a tent in a closet with the door shut in front. It's got two layers of light protection, but the tent doesn't leak on it own either. Bad luck genetics or defoliation stress I feel is most likely. However, given the onset timing/duration (1-2 days) and limited amount of pollen balls (like 4-5 on the entire plant, mostly located on the defoliated branches) I'd say it makes a pretty strong case for defoliation stress. I'll see how it progresses but my hunch is that it's done making pollen balls and is resuming business as usual.👍
grzesiek
grzesiekcommentedweek 86 years ago
im no expert but intersex is a price u pay for light leaks or reverse photo period..................spend 15 - 20 minutes inside while the room is dark .....................you might be amazed what u gonna be able to see
TheToaster
TheToastercommented6 years ago
@@grzesiek, I appreciate the concern, but light leaks is just one of many different causes of hermaphrodite plants. In this case, it's not the culprit. Good news is that the problem was isolated to a day or so of very few pollen balls that never opened and it's now been days without any new ones popping up. Looks like everything is going to be 👌
