Greetings, growers. I have chosen again the Red Starwberry Banana AUTO variety from Sweet Seeds seed bank with which I have good experience. I soaked the seed in a glass of filtered water and the seed showed a sprout in under 2 days.
I put the seed in the ground on 1.6.2023. I chose soil from Canna Terra: Professional Plus and added perlite. I will use basic fertilizers from Plagron. I will still have to buy additives. I have covered the top of the soil with a cup for extra humidity. The soil had large chunks of white peat that I had ground up. Happy growing!🙏
Update: DAY 7 (7.6.2023) I bought a root activator from Terra Aquatica. It's a concentrated product so you put one or two drops per 1 litre of water. The plant is growing well so far.
Update: DAY 10 (10.6.2023): A small deformation appeared on the leaf. I don't know what it could be. Maybe some vermin ate a hole. I'll be using Plagron's basic organic fertilizer. I am curious about the new Power Buds🌸product, which is a biostimulant. Mycorrhizal fungi (Mykoriza Premium)from Organics Nutrients and trichoderma fungus from Terra Aquatica, which I will add every 3-4 weeks to colonize the root system.
#Red Strawberry Banana AUTO. This autoflowering strain emanates from a cross of an elite Strawberry Banana clone with specially selected plants from our Red Poison Auto®️ (SWS39) autoflowering strain known for its purple flowers.-Sweet Seeds web info
Red Strawberry Banana AUTO is cross between Strawberry Bubblegum(Strawberry X Bubble Gum) X Crocket's Banana Kush(OG Kush X Skunk Haze) X Red Poison AUTO
DAY 14 (14.6.2023) The plant doesn't look very healthy, but hopefully it will recover in time. I have 4 cannabis plants and I give them the same amount of water and root stimulator and only this one has leaf deformation. I'll see how it does in the future.
DAY 17 17.6.2023 I am not happy with the growth of the plant, because it has a mutation where one leaf grows out of the main stem, so the plant has cut itself and will soon grow two main stems. This has happened to me once before and it was with the same genetics from the same seed bank. Never mind the plant will be smaller and I'll keep an eye on it anyway.
Update: DAY 24 24.6.2023 I don't know if I should trim the main top leaf to encourage lateral stem growth. I won't cut it yet and see. I've added some plagron fertilizer for growth and mycorrhizal fungi.
Day 35 5.7.2023 The plant is finally showing its beauty and I am finally happy for it. Today I watered it properly with 2 liters of water with Alga grow fertilizer and I still put 2 drops of Pro roots booster. The plant looks quite healthy and has no visible pests. The weather here has been good and warm for a while, so maybe that's why it started growing faster.
Day 41 11.7.2023 I added Sugar Royal from Plagron nutrients. Its aminoacids, organic material.
Day 44 14.7.2023 The plant is gaining strength and beauty and I am happy with it. It has no visible pests as I inspect it every day. It has been very warm the last few weeks and she is thriving. So far I have to praise Plagron fertilizers. I'm hoping the grey mould doesn't eat my plant this year. Happy growing!🌱
DAY 50 20.7.2023 The Strawberry Banana has entered the flowering stage and small buds are beginning to form. I started using Bud Candy in the nutrient solution. We'll see how it affects the quality, but there is still plenty of time before harvest. I don't have any visible pests and try to check the leaves every day.
DAY 58 28.7.2023 The plant Strawberry Banana starts to smell like pepper skunk and like blueberries. Resinous trichomes start to form that look like sugar. The plant has no visible pests, which I'm surprised since I haven't used any pest control. The weather has been cool the last few days, so I sprayed the plant with a natural product, anti-fungal. Travis Scott's album Utopia came out today, so hopefully I'll like it. Happy growing!
DAY 66 5.8.2023 The plant has started to smell good and will hopefully survive the rainy weather without mildew. The buds are starting to expand and resin is starting to form. I had a little problem with small caterpillars which I removed. I took pictures of the petunias.
DAY 73 12.8.2023 The plant now has a strong scent of blueberries, earth and a bit of a skunk smell. The weather is cooperating. It rained heavily last week and so far no mildew.
DAY 78 17.8.2023 The plant Strawberry Banana is quite thriving since we have high summer temperatures, but the occasional thunderstorms annoy me. I keep an eye on the mildew and put the plant indoors so it doesn't get rained on and destroyed by the wind. I water every day now with a nutrient solution with fertilizer. Otherwise I'm happy with it, even though it's a small plant.
DAY 86 25.8.2023 I've been looking at the plant with a small pocket microscope, looking at the trichomes, and only a few are milky. More are clear. My guess is another 10-14 days and I'll be harvesting. No mold yet. I can't describe the smell. It smells like skunk blueberries with a little pepper, an earthy note I guess.
DAY 89 28.8.2023 I had to harvest early due to bad rainy weather with low temperatures. I won't risk mildew unnecessarily. The three-day flush was done using Canna Flush. I checked the trichomes with a small pocket microscope and there were plenty of milky ones, but no amber discoloration. I hung the whole plant in the dark. I'm counting 10 to 14 days of drying.
@Mrs_Larimar, So am I! I've grown Strawberry Banana Auto once before and ranked it #1 in terms of appearance, amount of resin and scent. A really beautiful variety and I recommend it to everyone.
I appreciate the smoke review comment. I have grown 6 of these baby's and every one has a different pheno SMH. Honestly I have trouble knowing when mine is ready. She spits out lots of purple trichomes which make it hard to gauge. Can't tell if the purple is a form of ambering or not.
Nice work! I understand the fear of frost. I've been keeping bud-rot at bay with a portable heater outdoors (obviously insulated from natures elements).
That purple is fire, great stuff!
@yan402, Yes, I will. I am happy that I grew the plant without the mould infestation that I encounter every year. But I do have one tip for resistant genetics and that is Runtz XL Auto from Sweet Seeds and it has never had mildew.
