2 Amnesia Haze seeds from ILGM. Adeona & Abeona. Wet paper towel. Put inside a zip-lock bag. Two seeds placed on top of the wet paper towel. Put into a drawer and covered with a newspaper. When germinated they are placed in a solo cup full of wetted Happy Frog. Conditions during sunlight (18 hours) times are 80-81 degrees F and 78% humidity. Conditions during night time (6 hours) times are 71-73 degrees F and 62% humidity. No fertilizers are used for first week after cotyledons appeared (cotyledons appeared on 8/5). Seedling lights: 6 x 22w (6500K) LED tubes I strung together on a backer board. Cheap, cooler, close option for starting. Seedling Week 8/5 - 8/12
8/13-8/19:
Using the FC-E3000 now. 18 hour on / 6 hour off. 50%-60% intensity. 18" above. VPD during daytime has been around 0.7 kPa. Air temp 80F. Air Humidity 78%. Leaf Temp 79F. Half pint (8oz) mixture of nutrients. PH-6. TDS 367. EC 618. Fed twice a week.
8/16 - I've gone and lowered the intensity of my light (40-50%). I found some useful PAR numbers for my light from an independent source. Doing this, I think, reduced some of the stress of too much light and an unnecessary amount of heat. Air Temp. is down to 77-78F and I've reduced the avg humidity to around 68-70%. I was watering about every other day (small appropriate amounts if needed) but I think I'm close to them needing it every day. Lets see what the light and humidity change do to the plant and grow medium.
8/19 - 8/26:
8/19 Am I worried about internodal spacing? Maybe. Not enough stretching? Light is at 40%ish and 18". Too much light for stretching?
8/20 They seem to be doing great. Thinking about transplanting into an intermediate pot. I was going to go from these 16oz cups to 7 Gallon bags but I think I need one in between. Maybe not. I also raised my lights another 6" (total of 24") to see if they will stretch a bit more.
8/23 They still seem to be doing fantastic. The short stature and short internodes tell me that the plants are very happy. Adeona is growing much more vigorously than Abeona. Adeona has about 7 nodes and Abeona has 4 but both are the same height. I love the different phenotypes! It may be hard to train the scrog with them being so different. I may top Adeona, wait a bit and then transplant both before I top Abeona. I have read that topping before transplanting may have better results.
8/24 Topped both plants. Abeona was clipped after 5th node. Adeona was clipped after 7th node. I will feed and then wait a day or two before transplanting.
8/26 two days later and the plants are still perky and thriving. They have outgrown their 16oz. homes. I will be replanting today and then feeding them tomorrow a light meal so they can settle in their new homes. The addition of Ocean Forest to their soil mix now should give them a huge boost!
8/26 (Later) Transplant went great! They were def ready to move on! Good roots! Tomorrow I will give them a little food.
8/27 - 9/3:
8/28 These two ladies didn't bat an eye after the topping or the transplant! They immediately started growing new axilliary buds! Amazing! I fed them yesterday the same light ferts I had been feeding them as to not stress them out during the transition. I may do that again to finish this week and next week start on a more comprehensive ferts. I might trim a bit on Adeona. Its really compact and its shading a lot of itself.
8/31 Still not sure about trimming. Plants are doing amazing! One tiny shriveled up fan leaf had me a little confused but I think it was at the edge and the fan was hitting it nonstop. I think it just got dried out. I'm now back to a regular feeding plan and the plants instantaneously responded. I also got some gnat/fly stickies. I have only seen one stuck to them. That's a good thing and I will keep a watch on them. Man, these things love water!
9/2 Yup. That shriveled leaf uncurled. Yesterday I lowered the light back down 6". The plants seem to love it and the temps are fine. Two more gnats were caught but I still think its fine.
9/4 - 9/11:
9/4 I think I may have over watered them. Oops. Both plants are drooping a bit. First time it's happened. Maybe I over estimated their intake a bit. I will leave them alone for a day or two. I may leave the humidifier off for a bit and see if they transpire a bit faster. I'm not worried. They still look great!
9/9 So it's been a minute since I've been here. Nothing big has happened in the time since. I have noticed that the very tiny tips of the big fan leaves are maybe showing nute burn? Its almost unnoticeable unless you really looking. It hasn't increased nor have the plants shown any signs of malnutrition so... I did a big trimming today. I know I should have started this 2-3 weeks ago so the plant didn't spend so many resources growing shit I'm gonna chop. Next time. I took the plants out and put them on a table to trim. The floor looked like a cannabis horror show. I didn't trim everything I wanted but I also didn't want to over trim and stress the plant even more than trimming typically does. I also turned up the humidity a bit and turned down the light intensity a hair just until they perk back up.
9/12 - 9/19:
9/12 - Lots of new stuff. For the past two days I have installed my auto watering system. Just water, never nutes. I also plumbed a system for the humidifier water level because I want to have very little disturbance in the tent if possible. I would like to open it twice in a normal week to feed and possibly trim or tie down to the scrog lines. I also started stringing up the scrog lines. Lots of ingenuity on a few fronts! I like to hand build systems rather than buy expensive off the shelf stuff. To me that's part of the fun!
9/15 - Finished the ScrOG screen. Only one stalk is maybe worthy of a tie down right now. I also did some more underneath trimming of sucker limbs and buried fan leaves. I'm glad I have two completely different growing phenotypes (one bushy and one leggy/stretchy) because it gives me the experience of dealing with each type. The bushy one is tougher to deal with in terms of trimming but I feel like its gonna yield more because of its hardy stature.
9/18 - Trimmed more underneath fan leaves a couple days ago. Feeding and the watering system is going great. I did start training some of the stems under the ScrOG lines on Abeona because she is so leggy. I guess I'm just gonna have to go to flower when Abeona is ready because I can't wait for Adeona or else Abeona will take over everything by that point. I see root ends coming out of the holes of the bottom of the bag now.
9/20 - 9/27:
9/20 - Still trimming and ScrOGing. I don't feel, at this moment, that the light needs to be higher than 50-60% right now. I had a night where the humidity got around 40% with the light on and some of the leaves started to taco a little. No harm done.
9/21 - Tried to move a branch out on Adeona and I heard a small snap. Right at the node junction. It did not come apart. It leaned a bit but I 'crutched' it and I hope the legendary resilience of cannabis will come into play here. I'm hoping it heals well. Shit.
9/22 - That branch on Adeona hasn't shown a single sign of damage in the least so... that's good! More bending under ScrOG lines and some more trimming. The fucking insane amount of nodes and the small spacing between them on Adeona is brutal. I don't know what it's called but Adeona doesn't just sprout two opposing branches at nodes. It sprouts four! It's dense AF! Woof.
9/24 - I did a little pulling on that branch and it seems to be completely healed. I need it to bend over a smidge in the ScrOG. I noticed a tiny amount of light poison in some of the older fan leaves (some tiny brown spots and a tiny bit of yellow tips). No big deal. Moved light up a bit and trimmed a few more leaves. Will keep an eye on that.
9/25 - I've made up my mind and I will start flowering this coming weekend. Last veg feeding will be on 9/26. I will flush the day before the switch 9/29. 9/30 will be the first new feeding and the light change. Tying and training, training and tying. Defoliate the lower stragglers.
9/26 - I flushed and fed the girls for the last time before they switch over to flowering. They are ready and I'm worried they are gonna take over the tent! I also bought a smaller tent and light to use as a starter for the big tent.
9/28 - 10/5
9/28 - Flipped to 12/12
9/30 - Whoa have these guys taken off! They all bolted to the sky! Feeding is still going well. Auto watering is doing it's job. Moved light into a fixed position at the ceiling. I figure at this point all i need to do is adjust intensity and the height will allow the light to shine the biggest pattern.
10/2 - Did more defoliating. I read some articles about early flowering defoliating. As the plants are doing their massive stretch I'm trying to keep up with the overlapping fan leaves and detrimental shading. Seems to be doing well for air flow and light penetration. It's exploding in growth right now! I upped the light a tiny tiny bit based on some par numbers from independent review numbers. Upped the water a bit as well and I will be faithfully flushing every two weeks til harvest!
10/5 - I'm kinda just letting them go a bit. I did tie back a few limbs that were growing faster than the others but not too many or much at all. Plenty of water, nutes and fan action!
10/6 - 10/13
10/6 - Gonna be a big test of my system coming up. I hope everything works out well! I'm sure it will but I'm still nervous. Big flush this evening.
10/7 - Big prep today. Still nervous.
10/13-14 - Came back. Everything worked perfect! Pics coming for next week!
10/14 - 10/20
10/14 - WOW! Did these plants mature in the 7 days I did not see them! I had to hack a bunch of fan leaves and my hands were a sticky mess! LOL! It smells wonderful in there now! If I do a ScrOG again, I will def veg them for a shorter time and do some better LST tie-downs. Feeding has been wonderful.
10/16 - Did some more fan leaf removal. Added another fan for air circulation. That's a total of 6 small fans now. I'm also running RO water now so the water will now be consistent. I gotta pick my next strain so I can start it in the small tent!
10/18 - Just watering, feeding and de-leafing
10/21 - 10/28
10/21 - Entering the home stretch. Finding that my flush run off is slightly more acidic. I'm hoping to correct that so that I don't have problems towards the end.
10/23 - I realize I'm getting Calcium deficiency. The product of low pH. I have flushed and have watered with higher pH corrected water with Cal-Mag and some of my well water mixed with pure water.
10/27 - Yikes. I'm getting some Cal-Mag deficiency spots and browning on the top sugar leaves. I hope I can stop this and ride it out to the end. Buds are getting bigger and it's showing no other signs of nutrient deficiencies or stress. This would be very bad for it to go south right at this time! Damn it! Flushing again tomorrow. I will see what the run off will tell me.
10/28 - 11/4:
10/28 - Day early for the week but I'm feeding them today so...
10/31 - Cal-Mag deficiency has really gotten to the girls. It happened so fast! I hope they will make it. I think I've stopped it but I hope I can get them to the end without too much harm. It's kinda bad and I'm not sure if I should use one of my questions. I'll take some pictures. I've flushed with my really good tap water and nothing else. Tap water here is well water. pH is just below 7 and it's ppm hardness is always below 100. Sometimes its 75-90 ppm. I haven't fed them again either. Just some straight water with nothing in it. Temps may have fluctuated a bit for a day or two considering it went from 55F to 37F over two days. I don't think my grow room swing was more than 15 degrees but I have fixed the temps to be more stable. Yikes. I didn't see this coming.
I've got some FastBud Northern Lights coming soon and I'm gonna do a living soil this time. Just trying new things!
11/1 - I fed them a 1/2 strength solution. I think they are coming back to life a bit. We shall see. I'm still really nervous. I wish I saw that coming better. Live and learn. TEST YOUR RUNOFF MORE OFTEN!!!
11/4 - I've just been staying the course and I haven't seen anything getting worse so I may have stopped the problem.
11/5 - 11/12:
11/5 - Removed a bunch of the withered leaves. Still removing the damage but this plant is friggin huge and the buds are getting more dense and heavy regardless of the small hiccup. Some lighter food and some careful waterings have been the answer. Abeona looks like she is maturing faster or sooner than Adeona. Maybe a week or two difference in maturity. I wonder what kind of problem that will be at harvest.
11/7 - Still looks pretty good. Nothing is getting worse and the girls still look to be getting fatter and heavier. I will still cull the deficiency leaves as they shrivel. I'm glad it stopped! She smells like a lemon dream!
11/9 - Flushed both plants.
11/11 - Plant is getting heavy. Its almost impossible to keep uprighting all of the limbs. Few more weeks on one at least. I hope!
11/13 - 11/19:
11/13 - More culling of dead leaves. It's really apparent that these two plants are going to mature weeks apart from each other. Not good if I'm trying to time the end of these so I can start a new cycle to take over this tent.
11/14 - I really think that Abeona is going to be ready in 2-3 weeks. I have a feeling that Adeona will take 2 weeks longer than that so 4-5 weeks. Different phenotypes are a bitch!
11/18 - Feeding, watering, preening and waiting. Trichomes are still clear on Abeona. Adeona is just starting to turn her pistles brown.
11/20 - 11/27:
11/20 - Another week closer. Still patiently waiting and watching trichomes on Abeona. Like I said, Adeona is gonna take, at least two weeks longer than her sister will. Patience grasshopper.
11/26 - Its been very uneventful but I believe that Abeona (the leggy one) has matured enough. Unfortunatley the Cal-Mag def from many weeks ago have ravaged the leaves on the plants to almost nothing but the flower does look good. I will be giving the plant one more week or less of nothing but water. Adeona on the other hand may need another two weeks at a minimum with probably just water.
11/28 - 12/4:
11/28 - I've just been watering Abeona and I'm pretty sure I will chop her this coming weekend. She will be on her 9th week of flower. Adeona on the other hand is still growing a few white pistils on the top of some of her flowers so I will give her another two weeks I think. I will feed Adeona one more time and then just water.
12/2 - I was going to part Abeona out and chop what I think is done early but I'm just gonna suck it up and wait. I fed Abeona for the last time. They now just get water till the end!
12/4 - The waiting is the hardest part. I keep checking trichomes.
12/5 - 12/11:
12/5 - I'm just watering and waiting. I keep check trichomes. One major difference between the two that's also apparent is Adeona (shorter, bushier one) has matured with that cool purple leaf, fall color thing. It looks awesome but since it's not on Abeona and she matured WAY faster, it's disappointing that the first two Amnesia Haze plants I've grown are different in every way possible.
12/11 - Still watering and waiting. This is taking a long time. It has def gotten A LOT more lemony smelling! Almost like Lemon Pledge and Lemon Candy! WOW!
12/12 - 12/18:
12/12 - I feel like this is taking forever. I know that Sativas can take a long time to finish flowering but damn. I have some trichomes turning milky but very few. I really hope the long flower means great bud!
12/17 - Just waiting for the final week. Trichomes are frosty. Some are turning brown here and there. I'm gonna wait a bit longer. Next week should be the definitive chop! I can't wait to get these girls hung up!
12/19 - 12/25:
12/19 - This week end will be a chop down party. What a way to bring in xmas and the new year! With new plants coming in its time for the old to make way for the new!
12/25 - Both of the girls were chopped in the past 3 days. 23rd and 24th. Mrs. Lemme Adam helped me a bunch! I wished I had taken more pictures of the chop process but it was the last thing I was thinking of when chopping down 3.5+ pounds of wet bud! In my next weeks post I will divulge all of the things I learned and all of my mistakes that I will not repeat again. I'm looking forward to my next two Northern Light Auto girls and then the next set to be grown soon!
Amnesia Haze from ILGM is very easy to grow. It vigorously grows during veg and has a pretty good flowering stretch. I had some pH and Cal-Mag issues around the start of the flowering stage. She will eat a fair amount of water and nutrients. Flowering really took ALL of the 12-13 weeks. It's a pretty heavy yielder as well. I did manage to grow two different phenotypes. One was very compact and the other was very leggy. They both ended up smelling very much like lemon furniture polish but in a good way. I'm just waiting for the drying to finish and then I will be jar curing afterwords.
