Well we are now officially into flowering. I changed the light to 100% veg & 100% bloom. The taller plant has grown another 4 inches or so. I'm going to raise smaller plant so it gets more light. I sprayed down both plants a few days ago with neem oil, and soaked the top layer of soil with it. The girls did not like it, but seem to have recovered. I added some yellow sticky traps to top of soil. All Watering has been added in my diary notes below, but they are drinking about .6-.4 gallons every 4 days which I'm sure will increase to 3 days or so very soon. Both girls appear pretty healthy. Kindsoil doing great so far. The tips of the taller plant (on the tops) are curling downward and I'm wondering if she is just too close to the light/heat? Anyhow, thanks for checking out my diary!

Has anyone used Kindsoil, from kindsoil.com, and what were your results? I would love to see a grow that someone used it.

Hello @BeefWellingtons ! Kind soil is a kind of super soil. Its organic and it has a variety of organic amendments. After they mix all the amendments they let it "cook" (composting process) for 1-2 months. It makes growing very easy and gives very very taste buds!!! I have never tried kind soil because its not available to Europe but i have worked many times with super soils. Although be careful. These soils are very heavy for the first weeks of plants life and can burn the plant. Usually you have to fill the half bottom of your pot with this soil and the other half with a lighter one. Happy growing ! 👊

Two questions really; 1. I caught a couple of small flys on a fly strip. One was tiny and white. How worried should I be? Should I try to treat her with something? 2. The taller plant is like 2 ft tall and I am worried she will outgrow the space, is supercrop the only solution???

Hi @BeefWellingtons! 1/ Yes you should treat as soon as possible, once you enter flowering you won't be able to spray anything onto your leaves, so act quickly. As you may already know, neem oil is one of the most efficient organic pesticide, in this situation I would use neem-oil as a foliar spray + a few drops into the feeding solution, just to make sure that no eggs are going to come out of your medium in the next weeks. For the foliar spray, use 12~15 drops of pure neem-oil mixed with water and a teaspoon of soap (for the oil to glue onto the leaves). 2/ Now about your height issue, supercropping is not the only solution, you could top/fim your plant now (before she starts to flower), multiplying the main stems will help to control the stretch. You can also try the "cold morning" method, by giving your plant a cold temperature for the 3 first hours of the day (colder than the night temp) you should be able to slow down the stretch and force the plant to produce short inter-nodes. I've been using this method recently with a pure sativa strain, I was impressed by the results (StrawberryAmnesia diary). Hope this will help, keep us up-to-date and happy growing 👊

Hey, bud, I don't think you have nutrient burn. Your lights are super close and your night temps are much warmer than normal. Your burns look like deficiencies compounded by heat. If your KindSoil is cooked too much, the beneficial microbes will die out. You need these microbes to eat the soil and poop out the nutrients, and that is how you get the nutrients from the soil. If your microbe colonies are dead, you can't get the nutes. If they are dying anyway, I'd try to add some Recharge and/or Mammoth P to your water. It will replenish the microbes and they will start pooping out nutes again. I'm using KindSoil for both of my current and previous grows (prev are not on Growdiaries) and I add Recharge when my growth slows down. It helps.

@BeefWellingtons, live and learn. You'll get it eventually. I'm still just learning myself as well, and even if I'm an expert someday, I still want to be learning. :)

@MovingOn, well I think it's a little late for my girl here. I still want to try again and will use crystals and recharge next grow. I will also dive deeper into understanding what is going on here as I really do want to understand what it is. Thank you for your suggestions. I will look at her more closely and compare to the cannabis deficiency charts. I was dead set on Nitrogen abundance that I probably didn't even see other possibilities. My bad.

@BeefWellingtons, oh yeah, I forgot to mention too that how I got my temps down was by cutting a hole in my wall and tubing my exhaust air out of the room my grow tent is in. Haha

@BeefWellingtons, try coco with ph stable nutes, you will be very happy.

@Vault22, my growbox came with the hydro (I picked it over soil), so I really like growing in hydro, but it's very fussy and needy. That said, it reminds me of my ex, so maybe I just like fussy and needy? Lol.

Beef... Cover the top of your pot with a bunch of hydrotons I mean like fill it up. It’s going to prevent them from entering and getting out of soil. The soil must have been infested before... The plants look beautiful. I would start lst’ing the tall plant or like you said, supercrop now

@MaryJaneUSA, shit, that's a great idea, doing it right now! Btw, we have some fungus gnats in another part of the house that I'm battling, they just came to the closet from there.

They are looking healthy even though the one is kind of special. Don't worry about that one off feeding. I can't tell you how many times I've forgotten to ph before watering and never had a problem. Looks like that first girl is going to be a lengthy one 👍

I think that even if the yield is hurt a little from the damage, being an organic grow those buds should still taste good if you cure them well. Hopefully they will harvest well for you. :)

Really like @stick solution in slowing growth and tightening up the internodes. This is brilliant and I’ve never heard of this! Looking good dude despite the challenges! Still creepn and lookn forward to the finish 👍

Put the small plant into paper bag, will probably trim up and jar the larger plant tomorrow and the small one this weekend to give a weight and smoke report.
BeefWellingtons
BeefWellingtonsweek 10
I pulled the bigger one out of paper bag, hung it for 36 more hours and then back into paper bag as she got to the sweet spot. Now only the small plant is hanging for dry.

BeefWellingtonsweek 10
I tried twice to do a smoke report on the hydro grow (same genetics), as I had knocked a small bud off it 1 week ago and so I smoked it, twice...however I got so wasted I don't remember what happened and I woke up the next day. This happened twice. She is a pretty powerful plant.

Watered today with 6.6, flushed big girl out a bit.
BeefWellingtons
BeefWellingtonsweek 5
Watered .5 gallons at ph 6.6. Top leaf tips are turning downward, I think its wind burn as it seems to only affect the side of the plant that is getting the fan, so I will rotate her every day. The flowers are blooming big and have doubled in size in 48 hours.

Both girls are showing pre-flower and I suspect next update on Friday will be flowering.

@MovingOn, ok, gotcha, the earth juice, I have heard of it. I will add it on amazon, thanks.

@BeefWellingtons, you're welcome. This is the pH down & up I use. I try to go super light on the first pinches because that first pinch will swing the pH a lot more than the subsequent pinches: Hydro Organics Earth Juice Natural Down: http://a.co/d/i1ykDGi Hydro Organics Earth Juice Natural Up: http://a.co/d/dvI1CYP

@MovingOn, thank you! Also thanks again for all the help you offered. I will use it on my next kindsoil grow for sure! Citric acid crystals, mammoth p, recharge, etc. I got it! Thanks bud!! ;)
SimmiAutomatic
SimmiAutomaticweek 8
okay! - Did you use nutes with the kindsoil? - Mine started showing signs of wilting at the tips and some discoloration spots- maybe this is because I used recharge as well. I started a cycle of just distilled water with a nice pH until signs get better.
BeefWellingtons
BeefWellingtons
@SimmiAutomatic, I wouldn't worry about the recharge. I've been told by other kindsoil growers that its good. What are you using for ph down? I've been told you are supposed to use citric acid crystals (I was using vinegar). My ph was way off due to my ph pen was out of calibration. Your ph is good, you can pick 6.75 over the 6.5 though. @DrPhilGood posted this piece of advice: I'd try to add some Recharge and/or Mammoth P to your water. It will replenish the microbes and they will start pooping out nutes again.
SimmiAutomatic
SimmiAutomatic
@BeefWellingtons, Im in about week 4 - starting to flower slightly but I am getting the same curling claw on my leaves as the pictures above. What was the Ph you were using and what did you switch it to? Perhaps my pH is too high? I keep it around 6.5-6.75
BeefWellingtons
BeefWellingtons
@SimmiAutomatic, no nutes at all. However I did find out my ph was way off so I probably locked out nutes around week 6 or so. That's when it looked like it started going downhill. I've been told recharge is good for kindsoil, it haven't used it yet either. Has to be a ph issue.
JemGreen
JemGreenweek 7
We're also not having the greatest results from our super soil - definitely sticking with liquid nutrients going forward.
BeefWellingtons
BeefWellingtons
@JemGreen, too much kindsoil, wrong type of ph down, too much heat (had light on 24/7 for weeks), and did not use anything to recharge the soil (someone using kindsoil has been giving me tips).
JemGreen
JemGreen
@BeefWellingtons, what mistake do you think you made?
BeefWellingtons
BeefWellingtons
@JemGreen, sorry to hear that. I have to try one more time as my colas blew up the first 2 weeks and I think I know what I did wrong.
TheBudWhisperer
TheBudWhispererweek 7
Hey dude, just a thought but might be light sched. And lamp distance ie. heat burn. If ur running a 450 247 that’s gonna put a lot of stress on the plant at only 14”. Best I got for ya anyway. Good luck - wanna see this one pop off huge!
BeefWellingtons
BeefWellingtons
@TheBudWhisperer, the whole plant is dying now, but buds will produce til no more leaves, lol. My thoughts are 1 less lb of kindsoil would have been just right. I'm going to run another after this because the bud site production on this was insane. If I could just make 2-3 more weeks it would have been perfect.
TheBudWhisperer
TheBudWhisperer
@BeefWellingtons, mmmm. Makes perfect sense too. See how flush goes and hope for the best I guess dude. Brutes but stay positive👍🤞
BeefWellingtons
BeefWellingtons
@TheBudWhisperer, I'm going to adjust the lighting down to 20/4, to try this out, but I am pretty sure is excess Nitrogen in the hotsoil. No leaf tacoing on top at all.
