I won these seeds in the Diary of the month contest and wanted to give them a try. I heard many good stories about this strain and the uplifting effect it has, so this could be a nice all day smoke.
Germination was a breeze, as in all 42FastBuds strains I grew this season 🙌 . After germination I placed the seeds in a Rootit seedplug directly in the 11L pot. I mixed biotabs Mycotrex and Bactrex in the soil, and also some grinded lavastone and worm castings. Both release nutrients to the soil slowly and support the plant during the entire grow cycle and create a really healthy soil.
Both seeds had their helmet on and I needed to carefully remove the seed cap. This is always a painstaking process and feels like the first small victory of the grow when I manage to peel it off. Thankfully the cap came off without damaging the seedling.
Both seedlings stretched quite a lot the last few days. Looks like they want to compete with the Gorilla Cookies 😊 I moved them higher up the rack to make sure they get enough sunlight. If they keep stretching I will bury them a bit deeper in the soil, but for the time being they look strong enough.
The plants stretched quite a bit the last week, almost to the point that I needed to burry it deeper into the soil. But at the end of the first week the stretch stopped and now the leafs are growing much faster. The fan provides a constant breeze so the stem is strong. Since the seedplugs are planted directly in the final 11L pot I have to be careful not to water them too much, but it's looking really well so far.
At the end of this first week the Anmesia Zkittles are picking up speed and growing nice and fast. The color of the leafs is bright green and healthy 😀 ☘️
Week 2 and the Amnesia Zkittles are looking healthy and happy. To prevent over watering I only give them a few drops. It's a bit colder outside so the plants don't drink that much. More pics later this week!
Two weeks down and the Anmesia Zkittles are doing really well. The leafs are beautifully green and shiny, and with short internodes which is great. I still don't water them too much with the low temperatures to prevent issues with water logging and mildew. As I have two plant of the same strain growing side by side it's nice to see how little variation there is between them. A sign of decent and stable genetics for sure.
Since the CBD Auto has been harvested I decided to take away the fan for a while. The plants seem strong enough, and the open doors of the greenhouse provide enough airflow for this stage of the grow. Stay tuned for more pics and updates!
The Anmesia Zkittles are growing really well. Even though there wasn't that much sunshine the last few weeks they haven't stretched as much as I feared. So all is well! More updates and pics later this week. Stay tuned ✌️
At the end of this week I noticed the early signs of bloom! Looks like the ladies are right on schedule 😍
Around the start of week 5 the ladies began blooming right on schedule! They look lush and healthy and started stretching a little bit. I will put them on a lower step of the stand when they get bigger, but for now it's full steam ahead! Because of the blooming I added some Bio Tabs Orgatrex and Bio PK to the watering mix. Not daily but every other day for now.
In the second week of blooming the two plants start to show some minor differences. The first plant is stretching more and the side branches are thin compared to the second one. The second plant had thicker branches and stays more compact. But apart from that that plants both look really healthy. I cut down on watering due to the lower temperatures and I think I have found the right balance. I give water and nutrients every other day so the top soil has time to dry. Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for a dry and sunny september 🤞
The Amnesia Zkittles are doing well in the greenhouse. The buds are getting bigger every day and the smallest of the two already has a nice sour/gassy Haze aroma. I'm still taking it easy with the watering as the temperatures are not that hot. I'll post more pics and updates later this week ✌️
The Amnesia Zkittles are ramping up for another week of blooming 🔥 Both of them are doing really well! Iin this case it's very nice to see a difference in phenotype here. One of the plants has a really compact, dense bud Indica appearance, while the other looks more Sativa with long internodes, and stretched buds. Both of them already smell amazing, and the leafs are developing more trichromes each day.
This week started out with mold in the main cola 😱 I was afraid this woud happen since the top buds of the smaller Amnesia Zkittles was really dense. And with the lower temperatures and fall around the corner that's not a healthy combination. The other bigger Amnesia seems more equipped for the task with it's lighter, less dense buds. It's a real shame having to decapitate the little lady, but now I have placed the fan in the greenhouse to improve the air circulation. Let's hope this prevent more mold from growing in the buds. We still have some weeks to go before harvest so let's see if we can let these babies reach the finish line in (mostly) one piece.
🌿🌿🌿 Update:
The smaller Amnesia Zkittles with the dense buds could not be saved. Many buds had budrot and I had to cut her down. I managed to salvage two branches where the buds had not been affected. It's a real shame, but hey, growing in the late summer is always a risk. On a positive note, the bigger Amnesia with the less compact buds ony had a small mark of mold along the branch of themain cola. The rest of the plant seemed fine, so I just removed the one bud and let's see how she does in the next couple of days.
After a dissapointing week where I had to cut down one of my beautifull Amnesia ladies, this week is starting with a positive note. The larger Amnesia Zkittles is doing really well 🤘 After a bit of reading I discovered that tomato plants can also carry the mold that's responsible for budrot. And I had a tomato plant in the greenhouse as well (bad practice I know), which I removed last week. The large Amnesia has no signs of budrot and is producing a nice layer of trichromes on the buds and sugar leafs.
I'm a little disappointed about having to harvest these beautiful plant before reaching their full potential. That said, I could have brought the grow to a good finish if the weather was better. That's also the beauty of growing outside, it can either lead to amazing weed, but sometimes the weather is working against you. All in all I'm happy to have harvested the second Amnesia Zkittles as late as I did. It will probably product some decent oil.
