This week our plants made it to the RDWC system, of course there were a couple of leaks that appear after the Hydroperoxide and scrub treatment the RDWC setup got. I fixed it with a heavy amount of PVC glue XD There is a problem with closing leaks with PVC glue...last growop we had a leak on my water pump, so after failed attempt to stop it I used a little amount of this glue and in this grow the main plastic nut of the pump just disintegrated on me, had to improvise MacGyver style XD So if you like your electric appliances, don't use PVC glue on them ;) After a good old fight with the leaks, we eventually achieved tightness. The plants got a weak dose of nutrients, for starters, to research what their appetites are. The first two days in the RDWC everything seems to run smooth but plants started to show ether Cal-mag deficiencies or thrips infestation, the thing is just one day earlier i brought to the grow room three of my paprika plants that normally reside around the house. The idea was to shower them a wee with light because the sun is becoming less. So the first day i was almost certain it was the thrips...on day two added 40ml cal-mag and on day five I was sure it was a cal-mag deficiency and maybe a lil to many lumen so I throw in even more nutriants. As mentioned last week a deficiency or something started, at first my thoughts where >it's a thrips infestation... but after last week cal-mag drop the girls started little to recover, so this week we add another 130ml. cal-mag in to our 140 litre solution. The plants don't look great right now but judging by the still growing roots, I think were on a right way out of this crisis :) Big sorry for the delays in my diary updates and late responses, luckily the reason for my absence from GD is not health related or anything personal as my whole fammilly is doing great. What kept me away from my diaries is the current crisis in the Holly Land...it keeps me up for whole nights at times. We updated our canned food shelf in case of the worst. My thinking right now is that in my over 40y old life, we were never so close to WW III and i'm an avid political observer for over 20 years. I want to apologise for not updating my grow journals to everybody who was following the progress and my sponsors. On 7 of october while racing up stairs with my kids unfortunately my smartphone fell out of my pocket and completly broke the touchscreen, preventing me from unblocing it. Also i could not download the pictures from the two weeks prior to the accident because I bugged the phone because a month earlier the phone was at a USB port repair....so I bugged it so nobody can downlode my pictures and then i forgot to unbug it XD The phone was an old model and a cheap repair was out of the way. Normally I would utilize it, but yeah the precious week 8, 9 flowering photos :) So i ordered a fresh screen from PRC just to plug it in and unblock the device for download. I'm glad to inform you it worked :) Now to the important things. The progress this week was very nice. So I think to introduce flower period next week. Last update we did not add any nutrients to the reservoir. So this week we add twice :S First at week start and end. Included some photographs of the girls roots, probably the last we will see them till chop time. Using the 36h of dark time to adjust the light time for my plants to the actual night because of the cold nights, we hope the SE 7000 will keep them warm and cosy during the cold winter nights. Every plant drinks 2 liters of solution per day, I will slowly phase in to flower nutrients now. Performed some LSD and weed defoliation, girls are taking up pace with grownig em very satisfied. Plants are looking splendid, seems that the girls em running now (the two cultivars) both refer a lighter feed solution, that made it possible to feed them based nutrients every second week, except CalMag this still gors in the solution every week. Moby is eating a wee bit more than the Dos Si Dos still with this light feed I was able not to change the solution in reservoir from the beginning of this grow, and we transplanted the plants on 4 week of flower that makes it 7 week's without water change and the girls still eat with apetite...this will change after i add nutriant now, my EC will jump to 3,1 and thats obviusly to high. Usualy the plants stop eating after i cross 2,8-2,9. I use this as an opportunity to set my personal record for the longest nutrient solution haul...let's just admit, I'm too lazy and busy to swap it right now ;) Performed some LSD and weed defoliation. ScrOG that we introduced Is slowly filling with foliage. Super happy about how thing are going right now...happiness from my grow room deficits my bad luck in personal life...just yesterday i broke, like literally destroyed a third smartphone in just two months. Reached my goal of 8 week old solution without change...girls still drunk it, at end of last week my EC was at 3.1, this week after replenishing the reservoir everyday with well water (that's how i do it ;) EC fell to 2.9. Neded to add some Calmag and PK, that brought my EC beck to 3.1 end after this add of nuteriants plants did absorb about 50% less solution so next week first water change in this grow. If you see dirt on the photographs under the plants I will clean it up soon! (trademark ;). To keep mycelium away spraying the foliage every week from the begin with Cannacure, till now no sign of anything bad. I do not recommend to hold it so long to anybody. As to my experience with DWC (around six successful DWC grows behind my belt), I recommend to change it when you pass the 2.8 EC threshold. Defoliation was preformed. At week's end We swap the solution again, normally I would prefer to wait another week but as we will be away for holidays the reservoir swap was performed now. Basement did dry fast thanks to dehumidifier device, and my heroic deeds that will be remembered for long years to come. I apologise for the late updates, what you see on the photograph is what i found growing after my 5 day Christmas absence. i actually took the photographs on the day of my 41 birthday. During this time the four plants drank a lot of water that nobody was refilling, normally it was ok, this time though when i came beck the ph was at 5.6 after i replenished the missing water it jumpted to only 5.8. It happened first time to me so i thought "give it a couple of days girls will drink and the replenished fresh water with PH of 7.4 will up my reservoir", Unfortunately it was a bad choice, plants started to drink less and less every passing day, so at this week end started adding PH+ (first time since a long time, my PH+ bottle was bought in 2015 ;) During the week only added PH+ and PK 13-14. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The SE 7000 is hanged at 28 cm. over the canopy and runs at 550W. After my hangover after the New year's Eve ended I rolled my sleeves and decided to finish my nutrient solution impas...plants show some deficiencies but my EC fell only to 2,5, still had no motivation to change the water for fresh in the cold weather, so i try to add nutrients to the old solution...it jumps to 3,0 EC...I bite my lip and flush the solution ;) Let them plants rise up like the Fenix :)) As i pure in fresh water from my well with the EC of 0,6 to 0,7 (dependant on the day) for the first time ever I mix it with my run of water from the dehumidifier, that's why my final EC is a we lower than usualy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The SE 7000 is hanged at 28 cm. over the canopy and runs at 550W. This week was very relaxing, i add only PH+ (again ;), Calmag and PowerZyme. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now cannabis smell is overpowering in my grow room I can finally write something about Spider Farmers 6-Inch Inline Fan with Smart Controller and Carbon Filter :) As my grow room gets really stinky at times i always invest in a top shelf carbon filter almost twice the size of the one provided by Spider Farmer, to my shock Spider Farmer carbon filter absorbs the smells wonderfully well. No smell leaks and that just when the fan is running at 5 out of 10 levels of output. The smart controller is something completely new to me, and had a lot of fun experimenting with it during the veg and early flower, when the smell began i needed it to run full time at level 4 or 5 to rid the fragnance. All in all the whole combo is a great deal. If you are not as keen on technology the set without the controller is awesome on it's own. But to have some extra options open, the controller at the device throws at you a ton of settings you can use to optemiase you grow enviornment. This week i need to change the reservoir again, the plants drink solution just as I add fresh water the EC stays at 2.7 and i need to add PK and Calmag so that's why. The weather outside is very cold this whole week around -18 degree Celsius at night...this made my reservoir water go under 15 degree Celsius. A big hello to all the cannabis growing gardeners...and all the other visitors that came across my grow journal. Just on harvest day I was summoned on a long quest...around 700 km. will be away for three days. I will update this diary as fast as i"m back. For now just the photos as no time for anything. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now cannabis smell is overpowering in my grow room I can finally write something about Spider Farmers 6-Inch Inline Fan with Smart Controller and Carbon Filter :) As my grow room gets really stinky at times i always invest in a top shelf carbon filter almost twice the size of the one provided by Spider Farmer, to my shock Spider Farmer carbon filter absorbs the smells wonderfully well. No smell leaks and that just when the fan is running at 5 out of 10 levels of output. The smart controller is something completely new to me, and had a lot of fun experimenting with it during the veg and early flower, when the smell began i needed it to run full time at level 4 or 5 to rid the fragnance. All in all the whole combo is a great deal. If you are not as keen on technology the set without the controller is awesome on it's own. But to have some extra options open, the controller at the device throws at you a ton of settings you can use to optemiase you grow enviornment.
