I put the seeds in warm tap water for 24 hours on the 8/22 then into a paper towel setup for another 24 hours and already had huge 1/2-3/4in taproots on all seeds. I like to keep my seeds in a paper towel, in a ziplock loosely sealed, and on my xbox cause it kicks off the slightest amount of heat nearly 24/7. I planted them in quart containers in coast of maine soil mix amended with perlite and some peat moss. They sprouted within 2 days and after i gently pushed the shells off I had 100% success from germ to sprout.
Experiencing some minor curling in the leaves so ive left them to dry up a bit extra to avoid overwatering. I ordered 2 new kingbrite LEDs and should help up my wattage, just waiting on delivery. Overall plants are doing well hoping to transplant sometime this week possibly and start looking into adding some amendments for whatever im missing.
I transplanted into 3gal fabric pots this week and they are settling in nicely. We lost power friday and saturday so I had to bring them outside briefly to get them some light and took the opportunity to transplant. My dog Zarrah got jealous that I was spending so much time with the plants and if you look close you can see where she has eaten some leaves off of two of them, damn chow chow hahah pic of her included as well.
Key Points:
Transplanted to 3gal fabric
Dog ate my homework
Lost power and had to improvise
Installed 2 new Kingbrite 240W lamps this week and mounted the controller to my vent system. Im happy with the progress these are showing and im hoping to top at the start of this next week. I may supercrop the tallest ones and see how that works out. I hope to train them to 1x2 size so they can fit nicely in the tent. I staked them with little skewers as well to stabilize them some more. Also included a goofy pic of my canna bandit Zarrah for your enjoyment.
This week Ive dealt with some frustration. Mainly in that a few of the plants developed these brown spots on some old vegetation that ive identified as a calcium and magnesium deficiency via "Grow Weed Easy" identifier. The first night I panicked and after some reddit advice, did a foliar with 1tbs epsom salts and 1tsp gypsum in a gallon of water. I watered my usual amount with this solution and foliar sprayed them as well. The new vegetation seems to be blemish free and im hoping it remains that way.
At this moment here are the potential causes of the issue:
Watered with rainwater i collected earlier in the week ( Ph was at 5.4, considered that it could just have unfavorable elements in it that i cant test for right now)
Lights burned the leaves and caused the spots, isnt a calcium or mag deficiency. ( Just installed new Kingbrite LEDs and still working out the kinks, Ive since raised them and lowered intensity.
Nute lockout caused by high levels of nutrients present. ( I learned recently that the perlite I used out of desperation was MircacleGro and as you may have guessed it has food in it for whatever reason that I didnt realize until it was too late. Im theorizing theyre overfed and thats why we see clawing in one of the pictures, I flushed the one plant and its still recovering)
Fungus Gnats messing with the roots/vegetation ( as you can see there are sticky traps down, im gonna let them dry out thoroughly before adding anything else)
Moving forward Ive topped 5/7 plants, left one alone, and done some super cropping to the one that was extra tall. In a few days I will lollipop them and stake them according to my 2x1ft per plant system in anticipation of the stretch. That will give them a week of recovery from my pruning before I flip the light schedule.
Happy growing folks :)
The new growth is more toward a lime green and I suspect the nutrients are out of whack because of the miracle grow perlite that has plant food in it (I didnt realize until it was too late). I flushed and did a hydrogen peroxide drench to kill off some fungus gnats and try to get some of those nutrient levels down.
Another slow week keeping an eye on runoff ph and trying to dial in the indoor grow. I need to up my airflow and rethink my venting situation, the AC infinity blower alone is not keeping the humidity down and so Im thinking thats causing a stuffy tent and stifling growth. Buds are developing and Im hoping to see a stretch this week, I feel these girls have more to offer and Im hoping to fill out the canopy a bit more. Ive started to supplement with some extra red light by adding my old Advanced LED 300w in just the bloom mode hoping this will encourage some proper flowering naturally.
Reshaped the girls this week. The problems I was having have subsided for now and im hoping to even out the canopy. Continuing to supplement with red light for 4-6 hours a day
Plants were lacking vigor so I added some miracle grow plant food at 1tsp per 1.5gal and they have responded well. Their color is better and the discoloration I was having has cleared up. I also fed fox farms beastie blooms at the end of the week to up the phosphorus available.
Buds continue to stack nicely. Gave the girls a healthy feeding cause im not seeing any signs of stress and im seeing how much I can pack into theses. Excited to see the canopy take shape.
Buds are getting nice and dense, pretty good size for the overall look of the plant. The LST has helped make a nice even canopy and the bud sites are for the most part open to the full power of the two kingbrites. so far I like these lights alot. No fuss and no BS involved, just output. Overall good week, no complaints
Jelly Mochi is fattening up nicely. Trichomes are probably 75% milky now and just starting to see an odd amber one or two. Hoping to chop around 9 weeks and get a nice 25% amber 75% milky mix. The fruits have a garlicky sweet flavor and are almost gassy.
