I didn't start this diary from day1 because I was confused about the seed strain. Hence the solo cup named "Spencer" who gifted me the seed. I was told afterward it is indeed Humbolt's Chocolate Mint OG. Since I am up all night with insomnia I decided to put in this diary because the plant is just beautiful, frosting and smells so sweet! Better late than never right.
She is sun batheing under a Rapidled 375w Vero COB system with supplemental bloom leds from Mars Hydro200w. In a tent with 3 other gals, all having a wonderful time taking up my spare bedroom.
I topped her just before bloom around week 5 from seed and the latest photos are week9 (day 28 bloom)
Day35 flowering
Plant is beginning to change colours to purple! Nipped off a couple of old fans that were toast to spread lighting.
Some pistals changing colours also. Looks like these nugs will be dense. Fruity scent and very sticky.
Looks beautiful so far :)
Added Terpinator and Overdrive for a push.
Day42 of flowering:Such a beautiful bud structure. Leaves are mostly changed to dark purple now and some fans are fading out. She will be finished shortly so it got a blast of overdrive. Sugar leaves are very resinous and feel thick. She smells very strong, of ripe berries when you stick your nose right on it.
She is doing very well.
Day45: Removed old fans blocking bud sites... She smells phenomenal! Sickly sweet scent of over ripe fruits with a hint of fuel. Super sticky.
Day 49 of flowering
I only noticed slight growth this week although we went through some good feedings.I feel she is done growing now and I will lay off the nutrients to give a long flush with Flawless finish. The plant is very oily and looks very nice with the multicolour. She has been a pleasure to grow and will still swell some over the next week. Even the underside of the sugar leaves is covered in trics :D:D:D
Day51: Flushed out my pots with plain water until the runoff was around 300ppm. I'll let it dry a few days before watering with Flawless Finish.
What can I say? I've told at least 4 other people to purchase these seeds from Humboldt. They are just such a pleasure to grow, easy and give excellent returns in bag appeal, scent and yield. The purple fade is crazy, going to gold colours and everything in between. There are trichomes everywhere, even under the sugar leaves is coated and this plant is OILY with very thick sugar leaves. It would make great trim sifted hash or bubble hash with the clippings....no need to trim this bud deep into the flowers because the leaves are super coated in goodness.
The girl has done flowering, no noticeable size difference from last week but I am not chopping her untill I feel satisfied that the nutes are flushed out...I want a nice , tasty burn.
She smells very similar to the other 2 genetics I am growing so I am starting to think it is my nutrients giving the terps that sweet smell of overripe melons although this Chocolate Mint OG has a slight diesel fuel scent in the very background which is in no way pronounced. Sweet, Nutty...hint of lavender
The buds grew very tight, they seem almost dry but arent. I just love the colours and can hardly wait to smoke this tiny nug I cut off!!!
7 more days for this baby at least.
My Chocolate Mint OG is down and drying. I'll post "Harvest" after a week. All went well and the buds are beautiful. The leaves were very thick unlike any other strain I've grown before.
This surprise seed from a friend turned out to be a real gift. It was easy to grow and did not stretch much in flower like I had expected it to. I pinched the main top and basicaly had all lateral branches become tops which were quite heavily burdened. This plant could have benefitted from a scrog trellis and not being topped early. I also pushed it pretty hard with nutrients which made it suffer some during mid flowering.
The dried bud is still oily and very dense. It did not shrink much even though it dropped a lot of water weight... It didnt shrivel up. The flower and leaf are thick, tough and doesnt crumble easily in hand or from being jostled around....Excellent bag appeal with colours and bling.
It smokes very slow but clean and creamy. It is like smoking hash and is earthy with a hint of pine and mango.
All in all, it is a pretty heavy hitter but delight to smoke. I recommended growing this strain and smoking it at home
