They've been in solo cups for just over 1 week now and a couple have shed their seed shell but some are still clinging to theirs. Should all be free of their seed shell within a few days now. Got a little stretchy while preparing all of the big containers over the course of a few days being in less than ideal lighting but shouldn't be an issue now they are in a more ideal environment. Otherwise looking real green and healthy.
Originally was going to do one plant per container but just placed an order for some Big Body Gelati by Covert Genetics which I want to save 1 or 2 of the containers for so going to do the two Bubba Kush in one container, two White Widow in another, 1 White widow in 1 and then the Covert in the remaining. Might do two containers of Covert but still deciding while these last few shed their seed shell.
Going with four 30 gallon Grassroots Living Soil fabric containers all filled with Build A Soil 3.0 Mix (just under 4 cu. ft. per container) and most of the Build A Soil line of amendments/nutrients. All additions are Build A Soil brand unless stated otherwise.
Topped each with 1/4 cup of Craft Blend, 1/8 cup of Kashi Blend, a few handfuls of the Build A Flower Topdress, sprinkled with the 12 seed cover crop, and then covered it all with a couple inches of barley straw mulch.
All seedlings watered with dechlorinated tap water with 2-3 mL of Therm X70 wetting agent, 1 tsp of Rootwise Mycrobe Complete, 1 tsp Dry Aminos, 1/4 tsp Big 6 Micros + Humic Acid, and 1/4 tsp of horticultural Aloe Vera. (All measurements are per 1 gallon of water).
Should get the rest planted into the 30s from the cups in the next couple of days. Have an Eco Witt moisture meter in each container to monitor moisture pretty accurately. Trying to stay around 35% moisture, will water when it dips into the 25-30% range.
Got the humidifier running and am in the process of increasing the temperature. Target is around 75F-85F and 75%-85% humidity so VPD between .5 and 1. Should make it real easy on the young seedlings if can get into that target range. Sitting around .9-1 right now so looking good.
Thanks for following along!! All comments, questions, and follows/likes are greatly appreciated!!
@BudBoutique, Same! Wasn't able to train them as much as I'd like due to being unexpectedly out of town quite a bit during this run so curious how theyll turn out as they are almost too tall at this point lol.
You clearly know what you're doing, but I've never seen black or grey mycelium. You sure that mass of "good mycelium" isn't dead, a fruiting body, or a mold? Myc doesn't really lift above the substrate until its trying to fruit, and we wouldn't call the fruiting body myc.
Any chance at ID?
Also, damn, we really are in sync. I grew NLA last, WW now. Happily Minnesota organic grow!
@JazzBerries, I haven't seen it like that either and it didn't even occur that it could have been something besides mycelium and possibly be a mold but you could be right. I was out of town for a week right after this last update and that little ball in the photo has disappeared and there is no sign of it anymore. Plants are thriving still and no signs of mold or anything bad spreading so that is relieving. It definitely was more in the mulch layer versus being in the soil when it was visible though. Going to keep monitoring but it has disappeared at least for now. If it returns or I start seeing the plant getting "sick" I will update more.
Wow that is quite the coincidence lol! Thanks for the comment, and pointing out the mycelium/mold in the photo. Also happy growing to you as well! Will definitely follow along and wish you nothing but positive results to a fellow MN grower!
@Herbie101, Thanks man!! I really enjoy the cover crop too. Not only does it provide a nice visual aesthetic, it helps out in a number of other areas as well. Thanks again for following along!
