Finally back!
Wow! The garden has absolutely exploded with growth these past 2 weeks. Everything is looking really healthy still and growing rapidly all over. They all got the Build A Soil Bloom Transition Stretch phase on their feeding schedule. With water Therm X70, Rootwise Bio-Phos, Big 6 Micros + Humic Acid, Dry Aminos, and Freeze Dried Coconut Water Powder. The following were applied as a top dressed around the base of each plant: Craft Blend (1/8 cup), Kashi Blend (2 TBSP), and Build A Flower Top Dress (1/2 Cup). Changed the light the final time so they are officially on 12/12 flowering cycle.
The BK #2 in the back is only about 6 or 7 inches from the light now so raised the light as high as it could go. It shouldn't have to much more vertical growth so this should suffice for the remainder of the grow. This girl is the fastest grower and biggest in every facet. The leaves are some of the biggest fan leaves I have ever seen, the stalk at the base is probably 1.5 inches in diameter, and it seems to grow a few inches every day or two. Did a massive defoliation and cleaned up all the lowest fan leaves as well as any inferior or smaller branches that wouldn't produce much in terms of good quality flower and were mostly just taking energy the plant can devote to the large higher up colas. Basically lollipopped them and then super cropped some of the highest cola areas to get a more even canopy. Can really see her "legs" now after the defoliation which will be good for airflow once she starts stacking flowers.
The BK #1 that was originally going to be given away has now found a home in the final 30 gallon container. Was able to sex the 2 Big Body Gelati plants from Covert Genetics and had one female and one male. The Female was transplanted into the other 30 gallon and this last Bubba got the other 30 gallon that was going to be for the Big Body Gelati had they both turned out female. This girl was definitely getting close to outgrowing her smaller container and should be really happy and show a lot more growth now that she is in her final home in the 30 gallon. Very healthy looking although not as large as the BK #2 was at this stage. Super cropped the very top cola area to promote the growth of the slightly lower colas. Cleaned up the very low branches and fan leaves as well.
Both of the White Widows are doing great sharing the 30 gallon. Like the rest of the plants, did a really good defoliation and cleaned them up nicely to avoid any major dead air spots and bunching up of leaves. Super cropped some of the highest colas so the canopy is more even. Had to tie some of the side branches that were drooping a bit trying to reach for more light as they were in much more indirect light versus the top colas. Kept a few of these side colas as they looked cool and just ordered another HLG light to put up which will give everything maximum coverage.
After watering and feeding, mixed up 1 gallon of water with some EM5 and gave everything a good soaking just before the light shut off. Tried to get all the leaves top and bottom, stalks, and a good soaking on the topsoil of each container. Noticed a significant decrease in fungus gnats since before leaving town for 2 weeks. Before there was quite a lot of them all over but now there are very few if any flying around the room. Could be combo of the EM5 regiment as well as while gone the topsoil of the containers definitely got drier than normal which could have also aided in them depleting.
In some of the photos there are a couple plants that look less than ideal healthwise, they were supposed to be autoflowers from the last run but turned out to be photos and have just been chilling waiting for a flower cycle to switch and try to flower them. I'm afraid its been too long in the 5 gallon bucket and the little amount of food available in the Roots Organic soil it is in has been depleted too much to really get a good flower but we are going to try! If they don't make it, it is not a big deal, They are just getting water and some of the leftover feed/water from the above plants in the larger containers.
@BudBoutique, Same! Wasn't able to train them as much as I'd like due to being unexpectedly out of town quite a bit during this run so curious how theyll turn out as they are almost too tall at this point lol.
You clearly know what you're doing, but I've never seen black or grey mycelium. You sure that mass of "good mycelium" isn't dead, a fruiting body, or a mold? Myc doesn't really lift above the substrate until its trying to fruit, and we wouldn't call the fruiting body myc.
Any chance at ID?
Also, damn, we really are in sync. I grew NLA last, WW now. Happily Minnesota organic grow!
@JazzBerries, I haven't seen it like that either and it didn't even occur that it could have been something besides mycelium and possibly be a mold but you could be right. I was out of town for a week right after this last update and that little ball in the photo has disappeared and there is no sign of it anymore. Plants are thriving still and no signs of mold or anything bad spreading so that is relieving. It definitely was more in the mulch layer versus being in the soil when it was visible though. Going to keep monitoring but it has disappeared at least for now. If it returns or I start seeing the plant getting "sick" I will update more.
Wow that is quite the coincidence lol! Thanks for the comment, and pointing out the mycelium/mold in the photo. Also happy growing to you as well! Will definitely follow along and wish you nothing but positive results to a fellow MN grower!
@Herbie101, Thanks man!! I really enjoy the cover crop too. Not only does it provide a nice visual aesthetic, it helps out in a number of other areas as well. Thanks again for following along!
@CannabisFarmerGuyDude, I love the idea and philosophy begind the living soil thing! I just need to learn my basics first, but its perfect to follow people along who work with it to learn. 😊 I hope all will go well! Best of luck buddy!🌱🍀
@Herbie101, Thanks man!! Appreciate the love and you following along! First time going full "Living Soil" and using Build A Soil products so really excited to see how things turn out and share with you all.
